Will TwiSpike/Spilight ever become canon?

Um... Twilight is an adult and Spike is a baby remember? 

He's only a baby BY DRAGON STANDARDS. Since dragons can live for hundreds if not thousands of years, then yeah, Spike is considered a baby. But to us, he's more like a child or a teenager.

I'm gonna be blunt here, fanfiction will never become canon, ever. If such an idea was brought up Hasbro would turn it down immediately, and if under some chance Hasbro execs were on drugs or something the idea would never get past censors. And if it somehow got leaked out to the public there would be massive uproar. So no don't expect anything like that to happen, and if you wanna bring up Rarity I'd like to point out that the feelings are clearly not mutual, Spike takes it seriously, Rarity just thinks it's cute.

Actually, it would be interesting to see dragons of Eastern Asia in the show and see how they compare to the European dragons we've already seen.

Nope, it would create a controversy so explosive that it could get the entire show canceled. Parents would flip out if they saw a "baby" dragon getting together with a full grown mare, especially if said full grown mare had a sort of sister/mother like relationship with him. This is one of those things that will never see the light of day outside of fanfics.

Let's face it. The relationship between Twilight and Spike and what it actually is never really explained. I mean, the whole #1 assistant title is getting kind of vague at this point. I think they made it so the fans can come to their own conclusions to how they care for each other. 

 

Me personally, they always came off as brother/sister if anything.

Spike is rather mature for his age (I place him around 13-16 years old while the Mane 6 are on average ten years older than him)

 

Still, Twilight's more like his mother or sister, so...

 

Nothing wrong with Incest, but the show doesn't really do romance well 

Most of the target demographic (kids and tweens) are probably disgusted by icky cooties, so showing the mane characters develop relationships would probably turn them away from the show

Spike is a child and Twilight is an adult, so no. That's really the only argument you need. Whether Spike is a literal baby dragon or meant to be older than that is irrelevant, because just by looking at the lives of these two characters you can tell that one is meant to be a child (dependent on someone else for care, no paying job, etc) while the other is meant to be an adult (living as an independent, away from childhood home, etc). 

 

However, I want to address one of your points, particularly this one -

 

Well, if you listen to Spike's voice, he's clearly not a baby. He was a baby in the Cutie Mark Chronicles episode when Twilight hatched him, but by now, he's about 13 or 14 years old, and Twilight is about 18 or 19. That is only about a 4 or 5 year difference, not that bad. And in Equestria, age probably doesn't matter.

I honestly think that Spike is about 13, and Twilight is about 18. It's only a 5 year difference, which isn't that bad.

 

A relationship between someone who is 13 and someone who is 18 would be completely inappropriate, and at least in this world illegal. "Age doesn't matter" is a nice sentiment in some cases, but the reality of it is that an age gap of that nature creates an extremely unhealthy power dynamic in which the older partner is capable of manipulating and controlling the younger partner. Even though it's not especially relevant to the discussion because these two aren't necessarily these ages, I want to make it clear for all of the younger users on here. If someone five years older than you tries to approach you like that, please, for the love of Celestia run away.

The reason I ask this is because I personally think that Sparity/RariSpike or TwiFlash/Flashlight doesn't work, mainly because Spike only likes Rarity for her mane, according to that episode where Twilight got Rarity's mane, and Twilight only likes Flash for his looks. That is why I think TwiSpike makes more sense, and also because Twilight and Spike have had the most history together, and Spike has known Twilight longer than any other pony. Heck, she hatched him for crying out loud! Spike has always been there for Twilight when she truly needed it. Some people may think that Twilight is Spike's "mother", but I think it can be much more than that, and Twilight and Spike could actually work as a couple! And it would definitely come as a huge plot twist to the series finale that nobody would be expecting. So, I ask of all of you, do you think that TwiSpike/Spilight will become canon in the end of the series, and if it does, how will it happen? I would love to hear what you all think! I am a new user here.
