Things that used to scare you as a kid.

We all had our own personal childhood fears and some seem kind of silly if we look back at them.

So what where you scared of as a kid? Can be anything, ranging from an everyday life object, to something you have seen in the movie.

idk if you know what i'm talking about here but during parades there used to be these tall paper mache manequins and they had long arms and massive heads and they used to literally terrify me as a child to the point where i would run if i saw one coming at a parade

My biggest childhood fear was the inside of doll heads. I remember actually screaming if I saw inside one. My brother got in HUGE trouble once for beheading a Barbie and showing me. For whatever the reason, once the head was back on I was perfectly fine with her and went on playing like nothing had happened. The feelings lingered into adulthood. Once, when visiting the Statue of Liberty, I came extremely close to passing out (It was also a very hot day) while looking at her face from the inside.

Sleeping, being alone, being in the open during a storm, the three-centimeter gap between my bed and the wall, pictures of the sterio-typical alien, and a lot of other things. Thankfully, the older I got, the more these fears faded, which is normal I suppose.

Darkness, which, unfortunately, I still have a fear of, clowns, and the most prevalent being the death of my parents. Every time I drove in the car with them or walked down the street, I would imagine up random scenarios of them getting stabbed, ran over, and all other sorts of terrible things. I remember getting up every hour or so to check and recheck the locks to make sure no one could break in and kill them. Thankfully, that fear has long since passed.

The 1950's version of The Blob had me scared to look under my bed.  My dad took me and my brother to see Piranha when I was a kid and that scared the hell out of me.  I remember my mom calling my dad on the phone one night and yelling at him about it.  Still an enjoyable B 70's movie by the way.  For me, the ones that always gave me nightmares and still do to this day are zombie movies.   I can't get enough of them.  Something about the dynamic of how people show their true colors when faced with a severe crisis.  Still, nightmares or not, it's my favorite genre.  Can't wait for The Walking Dead to start up again for the next (nightmare) season.

This might seem weird, but going next to the toilet scared me.

I could go in front of the toilet to do my business, but never to the side because I would see myself miss and would never want to go next to where the pee went.

I used to be afraid of the dark. Even though I'm not afraid of the dark anymore, I fear what lurks there. To specify, I'm talking about the uncertainty of what's there.

The opening to The Goofy Movie.  Actually, a lot of the scenes in The Goofy Movie.  Goofy always sort of creeped me out and there are a bunch of scenes with emotional turmoil and interpersonal conflict.  I'm not afraid of it anymore, but I find watching it deeply uncomfortable.

It's weird because I saw Disney movies that straight up present murder and they didn't scare me a bit(made me sad though). But a dog with a distant son and I'm all freaked out.

I was scared of cinemas, for whatever reason the giant blank screen frightened me .

I remember that once my parents had to insist with me to go to the cinema .

Hospitals. Going to any hospital always freaked me out and nowadays that has led to me getting really stressed out about going to any medical place. :( I think it also stems from my fear of surgery which always haunted me when I was younger. I have a shunt and I always knew there was a potential that I would need surgery because of it, had to go to a special hospital every few years for a check up on it which that also always terrified me. Luckily now we don't go to the check ups much because they told us not to if there are no issues. Hopefully there will not be anytime soon.

This is humorous...

When I was a little toddler, probably around 2 or 3, I was both very frightened, but indefinitely intrigued (despite the fear) by a certain song in the 1995 film "Muppets On Wheels."  The song was called the "Jackhammer Rap."  I found the tune super catchy, but the sounds of the actual jackhammers in the background frightened me a lot.

To be honest. I've always had that fear. Even now. At least.. until I get seated. But walking into cinema's are scary for me.

"The Hawdawt!" Which is the leprechaun, but somehow my 2 year old self pronounced it like that. It was suppose to be a monster that gets me if I don't go to bed.
