Hey guys. I'm studying cyber intelligence and security at university right now. I visit the Deep Web for research purposes.

Is there bad stuff down there? Yes. But it kind of irks me when people say "Oh the Deep Web is everything wrong with the Internet it's so dark and evil" because that isn't what it necessarily is at all. It's simply the 90% of the Internet that isn't indexed by major search engines like Google and Yahoo. Yes, that means there's some not-good stuff down there, but it also means the majority of those sites are random crap, filler sites, gibberish, etc.

So yeah, bad stuff down there. But also know that you CAN go in the Deep Web and the FBI isn't gonna be knocking on your door. Much like the normal Internet, as long as you know where you are going and what sites you are visiting, you can have a grand time there.

 

EDIT: Also, feel free to ask questions. Deep Web visiting is part of some people's regular curriculum at this school.

If the Deep Web can be worse than 4chan, then I'm never going there. I know someone that's been on it a few times before. He described it as walking down a dark alley at midnight in a big city full of drug addicts and murderers kept away from you only by barred windows. It's not necessarily directly dangerous, but it's scary as hell.

 

Since it uses the Deep Web, is anybody familiar with a group (for lack of a better word) called Cicada 3301? They put out a few challenging puzzles on the Deep Web to recruit 'highly intelligent individuals.' I dunno what they recruit for. I've heard speculations about MI6/NSA/CIA, a cyber mercenary group, and even an alternate reality game.

I went on it a handful of times about a year ago, but since reading some of the experiences people have had with it, I've decided to stay as far away as possible from it and I have no qualms about doing so. If I'm not mistaken, your IP address can be put on a government watchlist just by looking at some of the shit on there if you're not careful.

The Deep Web really isn't anything you should be wanting to visit unless you're 'very curious'. If you ever do decide to visit the Deep Web then I suggest to advance with caution. If you're unaware by now, the Deep Web is a very dangerous and scary place if not careful. There is a reason the content found on there is banned from the general public.

 

My experiences in the Deep Web were hardly pleasant. I mostly came across a lot of pedophilia and racism.

(All that is below contains what I know and have experience with in regards to the deep web, this is in no way endorsing the contents as a guide of any sorts. And no, I won't give any links, not even to find a way to access the deep web.)

 

 

A lot of what you hear is totally true, there is: Assasination contracts, mercenaries, child porn ( recently all the links have taken off the hidden wiki, YAY! ), Wikileaks, anything relating to crypto currencies (Bitcoin, Litecoin...ect), access to any range of guns, drugs (all kinds)

 

There are more traditional topics and sites too such as: Blogs, deep web twitter, ebooks, anon email services, normal porn, music...ect

 

Lastly it is true that FBI/CIA troll the deep web. Now, if you're there for curiosity, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. As soon as you start doing illegal stuff, you risk getting V&. Also, almost all sites and services only use crypto currencies for payment transactions.

I do visit the Deep Web and heard stories about it but I do not use TOR. I just vist and lurk around infinitychan and 4chan (I do consider "ImageBoards" to be a part of it)

Since the normally visible web is like only 4% and the deep web is actually 96%, hence the name deep web, it isn't so dark like most you read seems to suggest. There is a lot illegal stuff but you can also browse the deep web without going there if you are a bit cautious. If you simply google about the deep web and read some of the more reliable and objective sources, you might get a better picture of the deep web in general.

Maybe i would only go there, to report all of those bad sites to the police or something, to get those bad people banned.

But then im afraid someone of those sites would send a murder to me, to kill me so that i cant report those sites anymore 

I just stay away from it...im scared to go there. Maybe the deeb web isnt so bad as some people and rumors say or maybe just doesnt exist at all, but no thanks.

It shouldn't exist, but "for the time being" while it does, unfortunately it's a necessity it be traversed bc it's often time our only place to find clues for a crime we wouldn't know was happening or had happened if it wasn't for the misplaced overconfidence of some psychopathic creep that thinks his life is without repercussions, no someone has to live the horror of investigation, clues, anything that is relevant to destroying this psychos life and, even hearing the tone of someone's cough or seeing familiar looking curtains are clues, unfortunately... We can live in a world and pretend without this online hub of injustice it wouldn't be happening, but it would, it's just a sick place to live and perpetuate gross psychopathic power fantasies, sexual, abusive, it's a gross hub where you can find the injustices some people like to pretend aren't happening simply by "not going there", investigating, authoritative spying, these things aren't about pleasure or fantasy, they are about justice.
