Mad Doctor 8 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 as a joke of course^ he said kappa so it can't be taken seriously I don't refer to myself as either. Though I don't care which one people choose to call me, I do vastly prefer 'pegasister'. Not for the sound of it, mind you, I think both labels sound silly. Regardless of my preference, I will fucking skin you alive if you say I can't be called a brony because of my gender. Thank you. Finally someone that understands the word "kappa"

Black Sabbath 2,488 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 I'm a male, but I'll answer this, too. I LOATHE the term "pegasister." Unlike "brony," "pegasister" is conceived to be for female FIM fans only and is based on the misogynist lie that "brony" is male-centric. I can see how some people think that brony is male-centric. It does have the word "bro" (a term mostly used to refer to guys) in it. Also, how is that a "misogynist lie"?
SCS 7,537 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 Hi! I'm a girl, and I prefer "brony" over the term "pegasister". What do you think? Can girls be bronies too? And girls, do you prefer the term "pegasister" or "brony"? - Eva Definitely! I think that people should go by whatever label (if any) they feel most comfortable with.
Dark Qiviut 22,638 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 It does have the word "bro" (a term mostly used to refer to guys) in it. Depending on your location, "bro" doesn't have the male-exclusivity. You have places in society where males, females, and so on refer to each other as "bros" to signify their close friendship with one another. Also, how is that a "misogynist lie"? Because it was revived on the idea that bronies are simply male fans and that females need a title, too. There was an editorial about that a few years ago. Then you have many people (including this very forum) claim that because "brony" has a "masculine" twinge, it makes no sense for a woman to refer to herself as a brony. I said this before, "masculinity" and "femininity" are social constructs. There's nothing inherent about what makes something masculine or feminine, neither is tying up gender with either of them. Thirdly, what does sticking to the backwards social construct of tying masculinity and femininity with males and females, respectively, say to people of minority gender/sex? 2 "Talent is a pursued interest." — Bob Ross Pro-Brony articles: 1/2/3/
Mistral 36 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 (edited) Yes, anyone can be a brony/bronies (Man, Woman, Transgender...ect.) I love and adore horses, I have since I was a little foal..... but almost everything <<<<key words<<<< you find is that girls love horses and guys love cars. It is so gender specific.... horses are a unisex hobby/love/passion, and so are cars.... and anything else out there. A girl/woman can enjoy/love guy stuff and vice-versa. AmberDust 1,118 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 I'd call myself a "pegasister' if the word itself didn't sound so uni-corny. ... see what I did there? But seriously, the word sounds dumb. I wouldn't call myself a "Brony" though...sure, a girl can call herself a brony, but i think term term 'brony" has evolved beyond its original meaning and doesn't necessarily describe every single fan. 4 Need help with your OC? Eloquence 2,076 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 As someone who's often told she can't identify in such-and-such a way for such-and-such a reason, I feel I have the authority to say that you can call yourself whatever you would like. No one should tell you otherwise, regardless of their feelings on a term as long as it isn't inherently hurtful you should be allowed to use whatever identifier(s) you would like to. You are describing you after all, therefore you should do so in the way that is most true to yourself! 2 My Equestrian Empire Characters Fluttershy - Eloquence - Chamomile - Ginseng - Lovestruck Ask Me Questions! LHfunk 422 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 (edited) Brony is a unisex term that refers to a fan of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. That's what I'd expect the dictionary definition to be at least. Pegasister is just a word that some bronies use to refer to girls bronies as. Or if a boy brony calls himself one. Or that dolphin that I know is secretly pretending to be a human. She's tricked everyone. Clever girl. Kiri 7,297 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 I actually know of more girls who refer to themselves as "bronies" than those who go by "pegasisters". I for one don't really go by a specific label, though I believe it doesn't matter what you call yourself.

gamecubeguy214 2,516 September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 I call fans of MLP bronies regardless of gender. First of all, ''pegasister'' is a bit harder to say, has more syllables, and it's one of those words that I can't say if I'm too lazy to say it, but I might be able to say some other words just fine. Second of all, I see that some female MLP fans don't like to call themselves ''pegasisters'', so I want to respect them and say say ''bronies''. Third of all, the word ''brony'' homehow sounds more right to me than ''pegasister''. 1 Pennutoh has a gun

Admiral Regulus 2,769 September 26, 2015 Share September 26, 2015 My two cents: 1. A brony could be either a male or a female fan of MLP. 2. I prefer the term pegasister for female fans, just because it sounds funny. Tumblr

Nightfall Gloam 18,295 September 26, 2015 Share September 26, 2015 (edited) Of course girls can be Bronies if they want to be. Isn't it the whole point of the Brony fandom: no matter who you are (in terms of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, etc...) you're welcome to the fandom????? Odyssey 5,719 September 28, 2015 Share September 28, 2015 Definitely. I like to call myself a brony as it's universally known and easier to say. There's nothing wrong with girls calling themselves bronies, really.
superdogz1999 551 September 28, 2015 Share September 28, 2015 Well yes, Girls can be Bronies and they are entitled to everything in the whole fandom as we are mostly Gender Neutral. Even though as OP said that they are mostly referred to as Pegasisters. They can pick what their favourite pony can be and stuff like that like the rest of us.

Guest September 28, 2015 Share September 28, 2015 I still fail to see how being a fan of a cartoon needs a label, but you can be what you want to be. I am proudly living label free. You can try and put labels on me, but they ain't sticking. The label doesn't even make sense anymore anyways. First people tell me that I am a brony simply because I like the show despite me saying I am not a brony. Then they say I am not a true brony because I criticize the show and aspects of the fandom. Which is it? I never really got the logic of "everyone is a brony" because the same people will shun people for criticizing the fandom and say they aren't true bronies. As I said though: I am not a brony. Other people can try and say I am, but that's only in their heads not mine.
