Learning a New Language

Have you tried picking up a new language in your own leisure time and not because some class at school forced you to?

I tried Japanese only for the selfish reason that I could watch raw anime episodes (w/o English translation) and I entertained the thought of visiting Japan in the near future.

As for forced learning through school, had about 5 years of Spanish, 7th-11th grade. I didn't take it for 12th grade because the AP Exam scared me off with the recorded speaking session lol.

If you are interested in learning a new language, I came across this article that appears pretty helpful and maybe it could help you out

While I learned French in school I have surprisingly retained some of that knowledge and I can survive a few days in Quebec City.

On the other hand, I have been self-teaching myself my family's German. For my German side was "Westernized" and ceased teaching the language.

I've got a good chunk of things accomplished, though I'm at the point where it is hard to move forwards on my own.

Bought a Japanese learning course for 100$ and I have yet to move on from disk 1, though to be fair I picked up hiragana quite easily.

I took two years of Spanish; the only things I retained were present tense verb conjugation and pronunciation, woohoo.

More recently, I started to pick up Norwegian; since I have a few friends from over the interwebs who speak it as a native language, and such. It's been quite easy to pick up basic phrases and sentence structure - I think I might actually follow through with this one~

Only Fren ch from school. Je deteste l'espagnol parce que il est stupide a mon avis. Et mon grandpere a un ville en Paris.

Took one year of Spanish.

Then I realized I needed 4 years of a language to graduate from my high school, so I took the easiest language, Chinese.

The only new language i would ever want to learn would be japanese so I can watch all my favorite anime's without sub titles.

Really though i dropped second language first chance i got in school. Meh, i don't really want to learn a language i will never really use.

Oh, and I have a slightly firm grip on understanding romantic languages.

I'm fairly sure this guy said that Spanish is dumb and his grandfolks live in Paris. *Spins index fingers around; celebrating this elementary achievement.*

I hate Spanish because it is dumb and my grandpa has a villa in Paris. Good try, though!

I want to learn german, which I have picked a couple of times and left, I'm a very disorganized person. However, I'm designing a plan which involves FIM german dubbed episodes =D (I saw The Best Night Ever a couple hours ago, and found it factible)

Of course, English is my second language (Spanish is mother) and I like to think I'm adequately proficient in spoken Japanese (I am, also, a weaboo)
