Dream Theater - The Astonishing

How would you rate it from 1 to 10?

6 or 7, I guess.

What did you think of it?

It's good and all, but its not up to the same level as a lot of their older stuff. It especially isn't as good as Metropolis Part II, their other concept album.

Your favorite song from it?

Not really sure, actually. I've only listened to the album all the way through once, and a lot of it kinda blends together, as often happens with prog metal concept albums.

Which track you liked the least/hated the most?

Again, not sure.

Was it from an artist which you were familiar with?

Dream Theater has been one of my favorite bands for about 9 years.

Are you looking forward into listening more music from that particular artist?

Yes, but this is... I think the third album in a row that has been merely good instead of great, so I'm not expecting a whole lot out of them in the near future.

Also, going to see the Astonishing Tour in May, it'll be the first time I see them live so that'll be cool.

Aw I'm so happy to see so many reviews, I'm currently writing down a lot of those albums to give them a listen someday :3

now here's the latest album I gave a listen to :D

Last album I listened to - Rihanna's "ANTi"

How would you rate it from 1 to 10? - 5
What did you think of it? - I gave this one three listens I think, and at first I was extremely extremely confused about this record, I didn't expect much when first listening to it cause "Rihanna" but still, I managed to be pretty disappointed, a lot of songs feel like fillers and or feel rushed, nonetheless I enjoyed some songs, and I was pretty surprised by the fact that this album has some kind of "rock/alternative" vibe, not really but most songs don't feel really "poppy" and radio friendly, quite a surprise coming from this lady.

Your favorite song from it? - It's definitely a tie between "Consideration" which features the amazing SZA and Desperado, also a good mention is "Pose" it's a dumb trap/club banger song but I love the beat of it

Which track you liked the least/hated the most? - Huh well there's a lot of them, but least favorite would be "Work" or the "James Joint" interlude, these song don't really fit to me on the album, "Work" is catchy but way too basic to me.

Was it from an artist which you were familiar with? - Yeah I was, but I never liked her that much, some of her songs can be worth a listen. Even though she's majorly never involved in her musical creation process

Are you looking forward into listening more music from that particular artist? - I really hope she comes out with something that could be a continuation of that album, it is overall pretty bad but the style of the songs was quite different from her usual stuff, reminded me of her "Rated R" record.

Let's just go with what I'm currently listening to:

Love of Life by Swans (on vinyl). It's good. It's intense. It's delicate. It's consistent. It's subtle. It's outrageous. it's courageous. It's personal. It's public. It's deep. It's enigmatic. It's haunting. It's unexpected. It's abrasive. It's tender. It's dynamic. It's droning. It's a shadow. It's a ray of light. It's specific. It's universal. It's timeless. I'd give it 121/36.

I listened to Control And Resistance by Watchtower - 1989

How would you rate it from 1 to 10?

9/10

What did you think of it?

I thought it was awesome sounding Technical Thrash Metal for a first listen. The band already showed what they got in their innovative first album, Energetic Disassembly (1985). I'd even say that it's a better effort than their first LP.

Your favorite song from it?

Mayday In Kiev and Control And Resistance

Which track you liked the least/hated the most?

NONE! (yet)

Was it from an artist which you were familiar with?

At first, I was a bit familiar with the band, because I heard about them by being one of the most innovative Thrash Metal band of the 80's. And after a few songs heared here and there, then, one day I wanted to finally explore their discography, which I did not regret one second

Are you looking forward into listening more music from that particular artist?

Yes, because they have an upcoming album called Mathematics that is set to be released this year.

I think the last full album I listened to was Dark Before Dawn by Breaking Benjamin

How would you rate it from 1 to 10?

8/10 (...so tempting to say 5/7, but alas no full marks)

What did you think of it?

After Phobia this is probably their best album.

Your favorite song from it?

Ashes of Eden and Close to Heaven.

Which track you liked the least/hated the most?

They were all pretty good, but I'll go with Hollow, I think.

Was it from an artist which you were familiar with?

Eeyup.

Are you looking forward into listening more music from that particular artist?

Eeyup. I hope they'll continue on this route since I like their newer work much better than the older ones in general.

I think the last one I listened to was "Throwing Copper" by Live

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHgs9jU3TyU

How would you rate it from 1 to 10?

  • Easily a 9.5/10

What did you think of

  • There is a reason the album sold 8 million copies.

Your favorite song from it?

  • An old favorite was always Lightning Crashes. The singles from the album are just damn good. The Dam at Otter Creek is probably one of my favorites as well. It's such a great opener. The opener should always set the tone, and it does a damn fine job of that :D

Which track you liked the least/hated the most?

  • I don't know there was a song I really disliked on it. I think T.B.D. was weaker than the rest, but that doesn't mean it was bad. Not by a long shot :3

Was it from an artist which you were familiar with?

  • I'd heard of Live before, but no, I was never particularly familiar with them.

Are you looking forward into listening more music from that particular artist?

  • Given that the rest of their albums received mixed to somewhat positive reviews and that this was their most acclaimed album, not especially. Not saying I'll never get around to it, but I don't plan on it soon.

I also recently picked up "Nimrod" and "Insomniac" by Green Day so it could have been one of those too. ^_^

Kamelot - Haven

10/10. Tis damn fine

Favourite song: Liar Liar (Wateland Monarchy)

Least favourite song: Revolution. Nothing wrong with it it's just not as interesting  a song as the others.

I have only just started listening to Kamelot. I only have the 2 albums they have released with their new singer so i am excited to go back and listen to the older stuff! :D

Tales From Far Away by Wind Wolf (formerly known as Night Breeze), a brony musician. Wonderful album.

My favorite from the 16-song album would be a tie between Friendship and The Heart of a Dragon. The latter one has lyrics. Take a look at a piece of the lyrics:

Breaking through silence,

arise in the light,
your soul, your eyes,
a sister's smile.

Through time, a white bind,
a long dirty road,
wish for the day we'll cry.

Stars gaze upon me,
neverending silence,
forgive me, my Twilight.

Perhaps a little corny, yeah.

My least favorite of the album would be Regret and that's primarily because it got a re-release -- an improvement on the original, in other words.

The last album I listened to was Delirium by Ellie Goulding.

How would you rate it from 1 to 10?

I'd give it a 8 out of 10.

What did you think of it?

I found it to be really good, with really good songs like Army, Love Me Like You Do, The Greatest, and Aftertaste.

Your favorite song from it?

I'd say a tie between Love Me Like You Do and Army.

Which track you liked the least/hated the most?

I don't hate any songs from the album, but I'd probably say Two Years Ago.

Was it from an artist which you were familiar with?

Yes, I've known about Ellie Goulding since her big hit Lights came to the U.S in 2012.

Are you looking forward into listening more music from that particular artist?

Yes, I look forward to see what she has planned for her 4th album, and hopefully is just as good, if not better than Delirium, or Halcyon Days.
