Pokemon GO

Unless you've been living under a rock ( or just dont't follow these kind of things ) for the past few months, you've probably heard of Pokemon GOPokemon GO is an augmented reality game, where we move around catching Pokemon in the real world. We have to physically move about to catch new pokemon.

As to the nature of Pokemon, different Pokemon will be found in different areas ( and possibly different parts of the globe ).

As such, trading will play a big part in this game. This is confirmed in an interview.

The idea of this Topic is to create a group of bronies to trade pokemon with each other from around the globe when the game releases on February 27thor at least it's rumored to. Yup it's a rumour I screwed up bad.

I don't have a clear idea on how to conduct this. Maybe, you guys just post whatever species of pokemon live in your area, and whoever who wants one of that pokemon could PM the guy who lives there.

So... Who's in to catch them all :D

Update #1

Here is a format you can follow

Well, I live in a desert with a lot of green areas, parks and the like, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get Vulpix early on, because Vulpix is best pokemon. :v
I'll update this with what is available in my area when I know for sure, but keep an eye out for adorable little Vulpix', just in case they screw me over on her global location. :derp:

I hope so much that this will be good. :D

I live near a very large river called "Weser," so i can imagine that i will find alot of Water Pokemon here in this Area.

And please, for the love of god, let me find Arbok.

I'm very excited but I'm also not gettin my hopes too high, but from what I've heard it sounds solid. Also, I believe the February 27 release date is just a rumor and it's yet to be confirmed...

Yeah... Thanks for telling me. I'll go update the original post. A man can hope, though XD

Due to this not being a PoniArcade thingy, I'm thinking this should be in Media Discussion with other games. I could be wrong, of course.

Alright, I hate to say it, but here it goes.

Official gameplay for the game has been leaked and I'm actually... disappointed.

Well, It looks pretty shitty, I hope they improve on everything by the time the game gets released.

On a lighter note, good luck playing this game if you have Parkinson's

It's most likely going to be perfected and fine tuned, but to me it looks fine. I just wish it had come out before Spring Break.

Aaaaaand it's just like I said before in another thread. Pokémon Go (at least the beta) seems to have trouble with battery usage. Under 2 hours of gameplay on a fully charged phone. First the news of no wild battles and the need to catch 20 of a certain Pokémon to get it evolved (100 for Magicarp) and now the battery news. My excitement for this game has pretty much died by now.

Oh you poor, unfortunate SOUL! In need, in want. This trainer wanting to befriend his pokemon, this one longing for a trade.  And does Niantic help them? ...yes, indeed. For a price. Do I hold my complaints, do they leave me wanting more? Does all this walking leave me faint, does it begin to be a bore? But on the whole it's been a giiiift.... Oh, we're poor, unfortunate souls.

Hah! But really now! I take it I'm the first on this thread after Pokemon Go became a thing & has been out for a while. Poor, poor Niantic. I don't think I'm being harsh when I say they've bitten off far, far more then they could chew. I'm not a hateful sort, no, but this game is utter trash compared to the actual game. Why bother with Go when the actual pokemon company just put out a new generation game to play? Pales far in comparison to the actual games, but that doesn't make it unworthy of its own merits, it's gotten alot less glitchy & manageable. I find it kind of cute how soon as Sun & Moon (ProTip: Don't... don't call it S&M. That...means something else.) got released, just now are we getting a few generation two pokemon. BABY pokemon at that! Oh, and what's this? Ditto & a special Christmas Pikachu? How nifty! Sure wish that I knew the slightest idea how to get either of them.

That's my biggest qualm with this game. They don't Tell you anything! I know there's the sentiment of the thrill of the hunt itself, but even hunters have things to go by, something to track, information to go on. You want a Pichu or a Togepi? Well, collect eggs and just keep your appendages crossed! Want that event Pikachu? Well, better get ready to walk outside for days on end in the blistering winter snow! Even if you do find a pokemon you like, better be prepared to trash it almost immediately, because you won't be even able to use or interact with it if it isn't the highest rank CP. Pity the only things you can do in the game is force-feed candy to pokemon you find on street corners or habitually fail at gyms that already have people who somehow managed to get much higher pokemon then you did.

Poor Niantic. They didn't have any idea what Pokemon was when they started this. They only knew it would sell, they certainly didn't expect entire states worth of people to swamp them. The game certainly won't die anytime soon with as huge a pool of people there are that still enjoy it despite its faults, like me!

But seriously though, if anybeing can give my any info at all on the new pokemon or tips on how to still play it without trudging though ankle-deep snow drifts, I'd be deeply grateful!!

Whooo! Pokemon Go finally just came out with its second generation of pokemon! Just caught me three each of Sentret, Snubull, A lavitar, a Sunkern & a lil' teddiursa I nicknamed Greaser!

Personally, never guessed they'd throw in MORE pokemon, since that would only make collecting candy & evolving the pokemon you DO like even harder, but glad to see they are paying attention to their game, even if Sun & Moon are out now to take away interest from their little mobile game!

Since I got myself a new phone recently, I may very well begin my journy with this game for the first time tonight! At first, I thought the game seemed overrated, but now, I actually love the entire concept and it will be perfect for me since I love going on walks around town as it is. :) It will be an awesome way for me to relieve stress. Walking about, catching stuff, checking in, looking forrrrrward to it.

The game *is* fun if You want to catch them all. Some pokemon are extremely rare so You will find Yourself running like crazy if one appears on Your tracker and events make all the experience pretty interesting and fun at times. Combat is pretty poor, but it was announced it is going to be entirely changed. There are many more features on the way too, I am especially happy about trade - I'll probably catch some Tauroses when I get to the USA and then maybe we'll start a local contest for them in my town ;D

Just keep in mind the game offers little more than just catching pokemon. There aren't even battles between trainers availible yet. Only in gyms.

Also there are only two attacks to use and they are randomly given so forget about building Your own strategies etc... at least for now.

I accepted all of this a while back actually. At first when the game released and I couldn't try it out anyways, I was severely disappointed when I heard about its catching focus and no real training, but since then I learned far more about it and I have adored the entire idea of it, because of my love for walking as it is. Just the idea of walking and making progress with something, like with the eggs, checking out a Stop or just catching a few Pokes, all of that is now a wonderful motive for me to walk around more. :)

WHICH! I went on my first trek last night with my brother, who gave me a bunch of pointers. It was fun, really fun actually. My town is small so there are only two stops and one gym but that is enough for me. Caught a bunch of stuff, including a friggin' Ditto, on my first trip! I legit was geeking about that one. XD Also getting used to the catching mechanics which aren't as simple as I thought they were. They are simple, but one has to be paying some attention and I like that. Also evolved Pidgey in to Pidgieotto, I am tired so I am gonna spell all of these wrong. XP My brother told me that getting Pidgey's is really good for the 'Pidgey Grinding Machine'.

After all of that, my legs were sore because we were out for a while and I really like that. It was a good kind of hurt, where I feel like I was out enjoying things. I am looking forward to doing this a lot more. The game has so much more potential with the amount of Pokemon yet to be added and more features, it makes me excited for the possibilities.
