Those designs, though. They're just such generic Pokemon designs (especially of Generation IV and beyond). I feel like I've seen them a hundred times before.

Nice to see exeggutor get a little attention, he went from hero to zero after the gen 2 special split. No moves, mediocre stats...

 

I'm also really excited to see they've finally killed the gym leader system like I've been saying they should. It was a good motivation when pokemon didn't have a big story to tell, but times have changed. It's also pretty darn shocking, gamefreak is pretty formulaic in their game design, especially with regards to this franchise.

I know... But it seems like they create a lot of Pokemon that look like that.

 

I don't usually use Grass types and am happy with a lot of this game and the Pokemon designs, so it won't bother me much. It's just that type of design does absolutely nothing for me, and there seem to be so many Pokemon like it. =/

Generic or not...You can't deny the awesome ability to summon a Giant light sword. I'd probably make a team centred around buffing up Lurantia just for that ability alone.

Playing Pokemon GO has made me realize even more how a number of these Generation I Pokemon designs were already very odd. Back in the day I didn't think much... But now I'm like "Hm..." Exeggutor, as I already stated, was always a bit of a weird design. This one is just based off of those tall palm trees, like in Southern California. I actually love those. I will not change my opinion on Exeggutor in general, but the new typing is interesting.

I'm still losing my mind over here from that Ice/Fairy Ninetales, though. OMG. So beautiful. So majestic. I've never entirely loved an Ice design Pokemon before (a lot of them are TBH, ugly), and I'm sooo happy to have one that is just sheer beauty, and with a Fairy typing as well.

I agree with the Ninetails though...that design is so Majestic...I'm really hoping they make Ice/Fairy Rapidash or Arcanine next...I think that'd be really good ^ ^

When I was a kid, I dreamed about a Rapidash with a rainbow colored mane. And you just now... took it another level. A Rapidash with a rainbow crystalline (think FiM's Crystal ponies) design. (Or they could go down the line of a rainbow colored dry ice-like substance for the mane?)

I really like the Orange Islands approach they seem to be going for with these new games; Nintendo might be experimenting here for the future idea of not including Gyms in every region they make.

<333333333333333333 the new designs for Vulpix/Ninetales and Sandshrew/Sandslash. Two of my favorite and most used Pokemon anyway! I wonder how Ice Vulpix is going to evolve though? My guess is still through a Fire Stone, even though it's not Fire type.

I'm liking the idea of different forms for older Pokemon. It makes sense seeing as how Alola is a tropical region and typically in tropical regions, the animals look different.

 

Exeggutor now has a dragon sub type, so RIP if anything has ice beam or blizzard.

 

Liking the looks of ice Sandslash, it looks like Sonic.

 

Hey look, maybe now Vulpix and Ninetales will suck less (in battle not as Pokemon).

 

Making great use of the multiple islands with Oricorio.

 

Minior looks like a possessed Solrock to me.

 

Trying to make Yungoose/Gumshoos more like Trump every day.

 

Mudbray I don't really have much to say about.

 

The Fomtantis family look like your typical grass types. Though solar blade looks cool.

 

YAY for more riding on Pokemon. Hopefully it will lower the need for HMs.

 

So is this trial thing on each island gonna replace gym leaders? It's like the game equivalent of the Orange Islands.

 

Those Z-move animations though. *Insert people saying Z moves are OP please nerf in competitive play*

 

So yeah we've got a lot of news that really hints that this will be different from the main series Pokemon games.

Seeing the brand new trailer, I'm really psyched and I can't wait to pick up Sun and Moon now. It's really interesting seeing the original Pokemon, like Ninetales, Exeggutor and others get Alolan forms. Some of the new Alola Pokemon like Minior, Mudbray and Oricorio look really cool and some that I may pick up throughout the game. The island challenges are really interesting and reminds me of the Orange League during the Orange Island Arc in the TV series. It's awesome getting new moves like Solar Blade and I wonder what other moves that will be available to use for other Pokemon. The Z-moves look really cool and very interesting as well. It's also pretty cool how each type has their own Z-moves. All in all, this trailer was amazing and I really can't wait until the new games are released.

The newest trailer was awesome! I just watched it yesterday and all the new pokemon introduced were wonderful in my opinion. I especially liked the red Oricorio, and now that Sandslash has a beautiful coloration with lots of light blue, I like it a lot more! And ice Ninetales seems to be the ultimate dragonslayer. I'm fearing for all my dragon types.

Me too! And not just kind of, it just makes sense and I can't help but find it so endearing that I've already planned of taking one in my team and giving it a fancy name. The dragon type bugs me a little though, as Exeggutor doesn't really look like a dragon in any way even if it has a tail now.

Moon and fairies are related from what I used to heard (can't fully remember it). If so then knowning Ninetales is Ice/Fairy, it should be in Moon.

It's one of the main reasons I haven't pre-ordered yet :s (though with the ease of trading online now, it shouldn't be a massive deal seeing as those with the other iteration will need whichever one you get to complete their pokedex - but I still want to catch my Aloha Vulpix myself XD)

 

But of course it's just a hunch I have, could be completely wrong
