Journey has one of my all time favorite soundtracks biggrin.png sometimes I listen to it and cry because I'll never be able to play the game T_T but seriously, there's so much emotion in the songs! I would link it, but I'm on my ipad

Here, I'll post it:

Austin Wintory is awesome. This game was magical and I broke down in tears at the end.

The game was waaaaay too short considering how beautiful it is.

Mass Effect, Oblivion, Unreal Tournament, Ratchet And Clank, Jak and Daxter, and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon

So so good XD I adore every single one of them

Oh hey, look. Another music genre meme. Since all of my other favorite genres are taken, l decided the next best thing: music from video games! biggrin.png HUZZAH! Aren't I a smart cookie! Post whatever genre or game soundtrack you want. It just has to do with games. I will go as far as remixes however, if it doesn't exactly have to apply to the game directly. I'm a Nintendo nut, so typically, I'll post some Zelda on here. HAHA! I'll only post a few though, so you guys get some chances on some Zelda soundtrack.

Here's some less popular and overused Zelda favorites of mine:

Meh. I'll pop in and post one song at a time, just so I can have excuses to come back often, and so I can resume being lazy.

Anywho,

Fire Emblem: Awakening. A very... interesting entry into the Fire Emblem franchise. It was much less story-oriented than past games, seeming to have most of its enjoyment coming out of the character interactions.

The interesting part, though, is that despite this, the story has some REALLY hit-hard moments.

This song is from the level that hit hardest with every player of the game.

... Yeah, I'm likely gonna introduce all the OSTs I post like this. Deal with it.

I think one of the best openings for a game has to be "If You Still Believe" from the game, Legend of Dragoon.

It's such a great song to listen to.  Makes me sad that it never got big in the gaming world for an RPG series, only staying as small as it is.  This would make a great game for the new Sony consoles; think of all that great touchscreen controlling for when you attack!

One of my all time favorites was Borderlands 2. It's intro was spot on with what the game feels like, and just stunning all around.

The runner up is Call of Duty: Black Ops. Great songs in the levels, and an annoying enjoyable and catchy Multiplayer theme song.

I really don't play many games with great soundtracks. Games like Madden, Call of Duty, and Battlefield don't really have memorable soundtracks like some others do. Two that really stand out to me are the DiRT 3 soundtrack and the Madden 07 soundtracks. (below is one song from each)

Fallout 3. I absolutely loved the OST in Fallout 3.

Borderlands 1 and 2 are a close 2nd...

I also found Little Big Planet's OST to be very enjoyable.

Big rigs. You know, the one with no sound?

Just kidding. my favorite is the Spider-Man: Edge of Time album, it's just so cool and edgy.

Not sure if I posted here... if I did, I probably already cited Okami (also Okamiden) and $Deadly Creatures.

More recently, I fell in love with A Walk In The Dark; its soundtrack reminds me of William And Sly, with a more longing note.

There's also Morenatsu, which you don't have to enjoy to like its soundtrack. It's a slice-of-life sorta game, so the OST reflects a variety of moods and contexts that can be relatable.

Earlier than that is Spore (and Spore Hero), especially the space theme which makes me dream.

Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Human Revolution both have great soundtracks.

Amnesia games' soundtracks add up to the great ambience of the games. The music just adds up to the horror instead of taking off of it.

Portal... Christ, did I spend an hour or two with this game. I used to speedrun it a lot with a friend of mine, so the soundtrack kind of stuck in my mind just because of that. Not like it would not be a great soundtrack anyway.

Portal 2 is also simply brilliant. Different from Portal, sure, but still brilliant.

Black Mesa... A Half-Life 2 mod. Made as a remake of the first Half-Life (a task in which it succeeds quite well) has a really good soundtrack too. The music kicks in just at the right times to highlight the action and bitchslappery being committed towards the bad guys. Great stuff.

And a countless number of other games I've played but forgot to mention. There are so many games with brilliant music out there, I just can't list them all. These are, however, the most relevant ones from my point of view. I never had any consoles apart from the Wii my folks bought just a little while before I moved out, so the classic video game themes and such "stuff that everyone should know", were helplessly missed by me.

TLDR: Amnesia games, Portals 1 and 2, Black Mesa and some other stuff. I never had a Nintendo.

I love the soundtrack to Super Paper Mario!

Some level music made me feel happy--and other songs sometimes made me feel depressed.

And then, of course, this game has one of the creepiest tracks I've ever heard...River Twygz Bed. The distorted music, the muffled low-pitched voices...pretty epic xD

My personal favorites include:

  • All of the Silent Hill Soundtracks.
  • Portal 2's and Portal: Still Alive's Soundtracks.
  • All of the Sonic Soundtracks, namely Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2's and Sonic Generation's.
  • Star Fox Adventures' Soundtrack.
  • Alan Wake's Soundtrack.

Those are my main choices.
