I'm not going to speculate on who it is, but I'd like to comment on how nice it is that they're staying mum on who it is. Hopefully it stays that way until the episode is released without the preview clips spoiling it.

Even though Sunset returning to Equestria is on my list of "things I will die when I see them cuz it would be so awesome", she's one of Twilight's BFF's so Twilight wouldn't mind if she was to be friends with Starlight. The most possible one is Trixie, and it hurts cuz I hate her.

I wonder if they manage to make Twilight not looking like a Total fool, hypocrite or whatever. My evil me would actually enjoy OC Pony making actual main pony look bad, though.

Lightning Dust almost got the mane 6 killed without showing any signs of remorse, I'd hardly say that "wasn't really that bad", and that could easily leave a bad impression on the other 6 even if she's more associated with Dash. And honestly, I can't see it making much sense if it was Trixie, with Twilight forgiving her at the end of Magic Duel, I feel like she'd be the one to give Trixie a chance, plus if we consider the comics(which I know most don't) she's about on good terms with everyone except Pinkie.

Plus if its a "redeemed" character, I'd like to feel it's a character the mane 6 didn't redeem themselves if Twilight wants to put a stop to a friendship

Oh yeah, I forgot Lightning Dust almost killed them. :^)

It's not like she meant to do it though, but it would make total sense if the Mane 6 were still mad at her for everything she did. I guess it could happen, but who knows. I'm just hoping it's not a new one shot character.

If the formerly bad pony in question IS Trixie, Twilight's reaction still makes sense. Yes, Trixie is reformed (if you wanna call it that) and yes, she and Twilight parted on good terms last time, but her ego is still the same which would still make her a bad influence on Starlight.

Trixie is the most likely candidate.

She's reformed, and the synopsis specifically mentioned "formerly-bad pony". Suri, the Flimflams, and Dust aren't reformed. Discord isn't a pony. Chrysalis is currently pretending to be Flurry. Sombra is dead.

Plus Suri and Dust are more likely to appear in the obstacle-to-your-dream-episodes coming up shortly featuring Rarity and Rainbow Dash.

She's the only pony Twilight has had a personal beef with of the reformed baddies that are in the TV show canon. Diamond Tiara? Twilight never had an issue with her and barely recognized her as a bully.

The writer of the episode wishing no previews of it would be shown tends to indicate it's a character that would cause a fangasm if it were known she was reappearing. Of the reformed villains, only Trixie fits that bill. And a new character wouldn't require the previews to be hidden.

We just had a day ago a villain from S2 reappear, so having a reformed one from S3 is no big stretch.

Trixie asking Starlight what her special talent is and getting a response of "stealing other ponies' cutie marks" would certainly elicit an anxious response from Twilight, even if Twilight says she trusts her former foes. Maybe even a Lesson Zero type response if the mistrust is played up for laughs.

Kind of interesting. Spike told Twilight to give Starlight room to learn on her own. This episode could be the dark underside of that advice. Nice going, Spike!

It's Trixie.

Trixie.

Trixie.

Trixie.

Sounds exciting, I'm lookin' forward to seein' what formally bad pony she'll be gettin' down with.

Some think it might be Discord, but I really can't see that. What if it's a former bad dude, but they just don't seem all the way reformed and Twilight is worried that Starlight will go back to her old ways if she hangs with the wrongs sorts? Another thing that makes me doubt Discord is the fact that it says pony..

For all we know, it's going to be a newly introduced character.
Or Trixie. Please let it be Trixie.

Hasbro; "Screw you, Lucky. It'll never be Trixie!"

Lucky; "HASBRO NO BAKA!"

So some guess that I read elsewhere, it could be a character that's new to us but familiar with Twilight. They suggested that the bad-pony might've been someone who bullied Twilight in her past, and even though they've changed Twilight has a hard time disconnecting them from how they remember that pony.

That synopsis sounds like the episode was written by someone who doesn't know the characters or doesn't watch the show. Princess of Friendship stopping someone from making friends over suspicions of being a bad influence? I don't know who the other pony is but I'm hoping it isn't Trixie. Twilight and Trixie left on good terms and it would be unlikely for Trixie to go bad again.

My vote is for Trixie! She is my personal favorite so that's mostly why I want it to be her. Plus, it would make sense because she is formerly-bad, and we haven't seen just how she has changed after being reformed so I think Trixie could be a very likely candidate.

Could turn out to be a lesson gullibillity: Specifically that you should try to befriend others but not just Assume at face value that someone's not lying to you or has reformed.

Hmmm...who is a formerly bad pony who Twilight is on terrible enough terms with that she tries to stop Starlight from approaching him/her? We know it's a pony, and we know it's a character from the past. We can rule out Discord since he's not a pony and Twilight is on reasonably good terms with him now. The Flim Flam Brothers are a pair, so it's probably not them. I both hope and hope it's not Trixie. Allow me to explain. I have actually taken a liking to Trixie since her reformation, and wish she would have made an appearance since then. The brief background cameo in that one alternate reality in The Cutie Re:Mark that one almost needs a magnifying glass to spot doesn't count. On the other hand, it's largely thanks to the comics that I've taken a liking to Trixie and I'm not sure I would like for her B canon material to be disrupted. G.M Berrow clearly thinks of her as still an antagonist (and doesn't have a good grasp of her character to boot), so I hope the show's staff don't feel the same.

I kind of like the reformed Trixie who's still a performer, but is also more honest than she used to be, and who is on good enough terms with the mane six that she's willing to ask for their assistance when she's in a tight situation. Not to mention, she's still a character who other ponies distrust, but is doing her best to repair her reputation. In a way, that Trixie is somewhat like what Sunset Shimmer was in Rainbow Rocks, but also her own pony. If she's brought back in the show, I hope the writers think of that Trixie, and not the petty, vengeful Trixie who would randomly decide to team up with Gilda out of the blue for some misguided revenge plot, in spite of being shown as somewhat remorseful at the end of Magic Duel.

We know the character has a past, but is there any confirmation that we already know that character?

True. It could be that and I'm just getting worked up over nothing.

That lesson would just be asking for trouble, considering the dubious nature of Starlight's own reformation in the Season 5 finale.

I'm really hoping it's Trixie. We haven't seen her since season 3 (not counting the cameo in the season 5 finale, and I don't really count EG Trixie). I'm sure DHX know how much the fans want Trixie back.

It'll actually be quite interesting though. We had Garble come back, Trixie might come back this episode, and then Lightning Dust and Wind Rider the episode after... that'll be the first time we have returning antagonists for three episodes in a row! We might also have Babs coming back later this season judging by an image from the MLP Facebook page! Season 6 is probably gonna be my new personal favorite season! Sorry season 4.  ^_^

It's the crossover event we've all been waiting for!

Sunset Glimmer & Starlight Shimmer meet at last!

That's what I'm calling....and yes I did the name swap on purpose.

Just imagine the sheer level of drama that this would cause. It would be glorious. Watching it unfold could be more entertaining than the episode itself.
