gaming Battlefield 1 VS Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Recommended Posts

I think by this point, it's pretty clear that one of the biggest clashes at the end of this year is going to be, yet again, between Battlefield and Call of Duty; arguably the two heavyweights of the multi-plat first person shooter genre. CoD has always beaten Battlefield on sales, while Battlefield (arguably) provides larger games of a higher quality. Well, this year could see even the sales tip in Battlefield's favour after all that has conspired in the early days of this month.

If you are unaware, both Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 have reveal trailers uploaded to youtube which you can check out here and here.

Now, to put things into perspective, the new Battlefield trailer has gained around 11 million views since its upload around 2 days ago, with an overwhelmingly supportive 700,000 likes on the video with only 13,000 dislikes. But Infinite Warfare, on the other hand, has been hammered by fans due to the setting, execution and CoD 4 Remastered news. It is currently the MOST disliked gaming video on all of Youtube, the MOST disliked trailer on all of Youtube and is getting closer and closer to the top spot. It's sitting at a  crazy 750,000 dislikes.

How do you think this will affect the future of both franchises at the end of the year?

Battlefield 1 looks completely fresh since it's set in WWI which has rarely been done, so it feels like a risk, while Infinite Warfare just looks like more space stuff that everyone is tired of, and is relying on a rerelease of an older, more popular game to sell copies

Call of duty fans have said for years they don't want space gsmes. And Ininfity ward put the f in fuck you. The icing on the cake is that you can only get the modern warfare remaster by paying £80 for the other piece of collossal shit.

Battlefield on the other hand, well they've been saying a bit they wouldn't mind a game set in the world wars. And it's a step in the righ direction, and I think they will pull it off.

Just like three years ago, there is no way you can judge the success or quality of any game until they're actually released. I will say that while I'm a regular COD player, I currently have little interest in CODIW; I'm much more interested in COD4 remake if anything. But BF1 definitely has more of my interest of the two games. But why this disturbing trend of large companies seemingly not knowing how to count?

Funnily enough, I have a feeling people are a bit fed up with space. Actually, no, that's not right. What's wrong with making a game that looks exactly like the last three you released? I don't see the problem. By all accounts Adva- Mod- No, Infinite warfare will be a new and refreshing addition to the greatest FPS series of all time. Anyone who thinks differently must be some sort of battlefield tryhard.

I mean, what are the Battlefield developers thinking!? Doing something different? Crazy. And they've gone the wrong way, the silly beggars can't count! They haven't even made a futuristic battlefield game yet, how can something be successful if it looks to boring old history for inspiration? Where are the drones, the lasers, the spaceships? They haven't even done giant robots!

Sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit, but it's damned useful for getting a point across, sometimes.

If you want to see what I really think, check the other thread on Battlefield 1. I can't be arsed to say it again here.

It's already in the title.

"Battlefield Won"

I was honestly expecting WW2 for the next title in the Battlefield franchise, but this should prove quite the sensation in today's oversaturated market of titles set in the future. I only hope it comes in fully working order upon release, rather then needing to slap band-aids all over the Frostbite 3 engine because the developers do not wish to fix the issues at the core.

I know it's shallow, but in my opinion the setting makes all the difference here. I don't expect Battlefield 1 to be a thorough and complete examination of the Great War with perfect historical accuracy, but I'm hyped because it's the first of its kind. The only other non-fantasy World War I FPS in the world is Verdun, and that only includes the western front and no single player campaign. BF1, regardless of how it turns out, is a trailblazer for this setting alone.

Infinite Warfare just reeks of spectacle creep. The future year has been pushed from 201X, to 202X, to 205X, to 206X, to the point that we're finally shooting space-commie-nazis invading Earth. I love sci-fi, but having immersed myself into the Mass Effect series and seen the pinnacle of what sci-fi shooters have to offer, I can't really look at Infinite Warfare with a straight face.

Battlefield 1 is breaking new ground for shooters; Infinite Warfare is just adding another mediocre grain to the pile.

I don't think you can judge any of the games before we see some actual gameplay from them instead of a bunch of cutscenes. I think the whole space thing is lame and I don't want it. I'm excited for cod4 remastered though. I don't have any interest in bf1 and I believe that cod iw will still have more sales even if people hate it just because it's cod. It's like iPhones, people will keep buying the new iPhone every single time just because it's the new one, it doesn't matter if it's the exact same shit again with almost no new stuff.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare reveal trailer - 1 million + dislikes.

Battlefield 1 reveal trailer - Almost 1 millions likes

It's pretty clear which one the gaming community wants, and I personally think Dice are taking a brave and exciting move. Hard to see what CoD will do to come back from this.

Optimistically, they'll listen, and pull back on the future shit. Not in the 2017 game, thanks to the series' three-year development cycle, but possibly in the 2018 or 2019 installments.

Clearly Battlefield 1 will come out on top. Call of duty infinite warfare is just another bad call of duty game with nothing original about it.

WW1 setting seems way more interesting, I have never played a Battlefield game before but I might just try it a little. :P

CoD is CoD tho, not really interested in that one lol

Battlefield 1 does look interesting. Maybe I'll buy it.

Also I'm 100% sure that they will have the same amount of sales. Every year people are complaining about COD and every year the same people buy it. I don't see what would make this year any different.

When it comes to shooters, I've tended to avoid military-esque shooters. For me, they were just never appealing. I missed the era of WWII shooters, but I know that became oversaturated, so they moved on. When it comes to FPS titles, I prefer games like the Bioshock series and the recent Wolfenstein games; largely because of the extensive single player campaign and the fact that they are just fin.

CoD has not grabbed me at all, but the WWI setting of Battlefield 1 has be VERY intrigued. I'm not expecting anything that will blow me away like Bioshock Infinite or Wolfenstein: The New Order did, but my gut is positive this one will be good.

Hopefully, anyway.

I wish it was easy to just drop out of the gaming community, but sadly it is not.

Ok, here is my take on everything. I don't remember where I heard this, and I don't know if it is true or not, but BF1 is taking place in a alternate WW1 timeline, so it won't even follow our actual timeline exactly (again I don't know if this is true or not.)

Another thing, all of this stuff was shown from the Single Player perspective, which a majority don't care about, because Multiplayer is where it's at. This is only speculation, but I'm pretty sure there will be no "Space Battles" on Infinite Warfare Multiplayer.

Also I'm pretty sure a majority of those dislikes aren't genuine, but just done out of spite.

The Remastering is what angers me the most. Any game that has been remastered for the current gen, and even the past gen (Kingdom Hearts, The Last of Us, pretty much anything that was branded with Remastered, or HD) I have noticed alot of anger towards them, but now that Call of Duty does it, it receives the highest of praise? That makes no sense whatsoever, and I wish it is something that dies in the gaming community.

And it finally comes down to quality. Both games have their pros and cons. BF is more tailored to be like the actual battlefield, but people like Call of Duty because it is fast paced. The last time people wanted big maps in COD was Ghosts, and it was a total mess, which is most likely why the maps have been smaller in size after it.

I don't favor one over the other because they are both great games in their own way, but that's how I see it.

It'd be pretty funny if Activision says "Fuck you" and gives the community a Call of Duty based in the same time period as Far Cry: Primal. "You don't want Modern Warfare, so have fun killing people with sticks and stones in the Stone Age bitches."

I unfortunately can't pass up the CoD4 remaster, so imma have to get Infinite Warfare.

But WW1 Battlefield looks and sounds *infinitely* better. The biplanes sold it for me. And the classic tank rolling over a trench scene. Music in both trailers was perfect, though.

I'm actually excited for Battlefield 1 one despite EA's typical pre-order bullshit and this flashy trailer.

@@Code, that video was stolen. Here is the original.

This battle is, to me, going to Battlefield 1, entirely. While Call of Duty is being slowly eroded by the sheer greed of Activision, Battlefield 1 is going to a war that we have not seen in a huge game like this, and it sounds amazing.

Infinite Warfare looks to be relying on gimmicks once again, which seems to be the COD staple now. Not only this, but bundling MW Remastered ONLY with Infinite Warfare is such a huge slap to the face of all the fans. I really hope that this is the nail in the coffin for this tired and milked franchise.

  • 1 month later...

I'll probably play neither of games, unless I drop by my friend.

But I've had the chance of playing Battlefield games in the past as well as Call of Duty ones. And I have to say, while CoD is fun to play, Battlefield just looks so much more realistic. Mainly because Battlefield always did one thing better than CoD, ever since I could remember. That is: Vehicles of all sorts.

Ever since Battlefield first game, and especially in Battlefield 2. Battlefield 3 campaign vehicle missions were interesting, but not that fun anymore. Thunder Strike mission was something I digged myself in easily. Tho the air one was just for show-off, nothing more. (Tho multiplayer is a different story)

CoD, on the other hand... I remember the very first CoD. It was extremely immersive, especially the third, soviet part of the campaign. MP was nice too. But over time, CoD switched from immersion to mindless epicness and badassery, so it lost in my eyes time and time again.

Battlefiled 1 wins a long way here for me, as while CoD went for "Look how much more epic we can be with all the stuff you can't imagine!", Battlefield said "Look how great we can be with stuff you already should know."
And that beats CoD hands down. And while WWI was predominantly a trench, stationary warfare, I don't mind seeing what it COULD have been.

So recently I talked/discussed about this with a classmate. In some way he keeps complaining that FPS games of today are straight the same stuff in the core. Well, if you ask me... You're technically right except for the Battlefield part.

LOL

Hmm i really think that battlefield 1 is going to be a better all around game.

What i mean with that is that i think the maps are going to be better as well as better gameplay where u can put more time in.

Its also kinda what peolpe are asking for back to older times in games not that space stuff.

So i think that battlefield 1 is going to result in maybe even better battlefield games.

But for Call of Duty i think or they really need to come up with something or maybe just let COD be for what it is and start a fresh new serie... (but i am still pretty happy about the remaster ;) )
