Now these have been around for a couple years now, and I know sheep will buy into this and get them, because trendy. But as for me, absolutely positively never in a million years not touching this thing.

what does 666 mean?

(Source: JW.org)

he Bible’s answer

According to the last book in the Bible, 666 is the number, or name, of the wild beast with seven heads and ten horns that comes out of the sea. (Revelation 13:1, 17, 18) This beast is a symbol of the worldwide political system, which rules over “every tribe and people and tongue and nation.” (Revelation 13:7) The name 666 identifies the political system as a gross failure in God’s sight. How?

More than a label. Names given by God have meaning. For example, God gave the man Abram, which means “Father Is High (Exalted),” the name Abraham, which means “Father of a Crowd (Multitude),” when God promised that He would make Abraham “a father of many nations.” (Genesis 17:5, footnotes) Likewise, God named the beast 666 as a symbol of its defining attributes.

The number six implies imperfection. Often, numbers are used as symbols in the Bible. Seven typically represents completeness or perfection. Six, being one short of seven, can denote something incomplete or flawed in God’s eyes, and it can be associated with God’s enemies.—1 Chronicles 20:6; Daniel 3:1.

Three times for emphasis. The Bible sometimes stresses a matter by stating it three times. (Revelation 4:8; 8:13) So the name 666 powerfully emphasizes that God views human political systems as gross failures. They have been unable to bring lasting peace and security—things that only God’s Kingdom will achieve.

The mark of the beast

The Bible says that people receive “the mark of the wild beast” because they follow it “with admiration,” to the point of worshipping it. (Revelation 13:3, 4; 16:2) They do this by giving worshipful honor to their country, its symbols, or its military might. As The Encyclopedia of Religion states: “Nationalism has become a dominant form of religion in the modern world.” *

How is the mark of the beast placed on someone’s right hand or forehead? (Revelation 13:16) Regarding his commands to the nation of Israel, God said: “Bind them as a reminder on your hand, and they should be like a headband on your forehead.” (Deuteronomy 11:18) This meant, not that the Israelites were to mark their literal hands and foreheads, but that God’s words would guide all their actions and thoughts. Likewise, rather than being something literal such as a 666 tattoo, the mark of the beast symbolically identifies those who let the political system rule their lives. Those with the mark of the beast place themselves in opposition to God.—Revelation 14:9, 10; 19:19-21.

So yeah. While it's a physical mark, it still brands you as siding with manmade government and politics, and falling prey to a flawed system that will very soon be brought to an end.

Not touching this.

What are you guys' Thoughts on these chip implants?

If there's any real benefit to having one then I might, but at the moment I'm not aware of much they do that, say, a smartwatch doesn't (and I don't even have a smartwatch, or smartphone for that matter.) These days I can swipe my card without my PIN so long as the total cost isn't too high - no need for surgery and constantly setting off metal detectors for that.

Now, I have no real objection to them for exactly the same reason - it's the same as using a handheld item with a chip in it. Yes I am aware of the 'mark of the beast' passage in question, but given that it could be interpreted in a number of ways the literal interpretation doesn't make sense to me (far more sense for this mark to be symbolic of something more abstract and insidious.) You could take the view that the human body should not be altered, which is a different point to this (so that would also prohibit prosthetic limbs, iron lungs and similar) but I don't go with that either.

RFID sounds more like a blatant tracking system. We already have CCTV and credit/debit cards. They track your movement and purchase already. In fact, your data is less likely to be used by the state and more likely to be used by companies for ad targeting. The average british citizen is seen by CCTV something around 70 times a day.

Laughter. That's me.

I see it not only as the aspect of a good friend, but also a virtue for life!

To let the world roll over me and my friends (psst that's you)  and enjoy every moment is my life goal.

So let me make you laugh... Let me make you smile... Let me brighten your day... You may be all the better for it

If I ever have an RFID implanted in me, I want it to be in my left hand, so I can install a scanner on my PC that is connected to the power switch. Besides, I don't believe in God, so the "Mark of The Beast" has no meaning to me, but it would give me a good excuse to have something like the Sigil of Baphomet or the Sigil of Lucifer near where the RFID was implanted.

I don't really like the idea of anyone using any data gathered from me for any purpose, but we all use the internet, the majority of people with a phone most likely has a smart phone, so it's not like anyone's exact location can't be found these days.

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea needs to open up a history book and study the various things totalitarian governments have done to enslave their populations and maybe also considering reading the works of George Orwell so my answer is an obvious no. I value my privacy, rights and autonomy.

No, but for different reasons. All our livestock and pets are chipped, so I have experience with the technology. Passive RFID chips can technically last a lifetime, but inside a living body is not exactly a very pleasant environment for microelectronics. The failure rate over time isn't so hot, even now.

You know how much a pain it is to get a new credit card if something goes wrong? Yeah, guess how much of a pain it is to get a implant changed. Remember that they have to remove the old one to keep the scanners from getting confused.

And that's just the Passive style. Livestock is often dealing with Active RFID chips in ear tags (because they need batteries to work). They do wonders for tracking, but they have to have the batteries replaced on a regular basis.

So no. Implants are not the way to go with this tech.

Tagging people isn't exactly a very smart thing to do. Hackers are tenacious buggers when it comes to cracking into government mandated technology. RFID in particular has no safety mechanism to it and the unique payloads they contain can be read by anyone and perhaps be replicated.

The only reason anyone would want to do this would be to track the population with a series of checkpoints which keep track of your location history automatically in some secret database. So if the government tried to pull something like this off, you can bet I wouldnt be a part of it. The government would inevitably mess something up with the technology itself and their malicious intent would be pretty damn transparent no matter how theyd try to frame it in the public good.
