Snow 7,693 August 27, 2016 Share August 27, 2016 ruleing the land calls for a hell of a lot of commitment, luna was on the moon and there was nobody there and celestia had to run the whole show, she clearly didnt have the time for other commitments 1 beans
Justin_Case001 4,907 August 27, 2016 Share August 27, 2016 ... ....OH! Right. Yeah, ok. Like several others in this thread, I thought you meant married to each other. Title's....a little....misleading. Lol. Anyway, who says they haven't been? They could have been married many times! Remember, we know barely anything about their past. They just aren't married at the moment. That's all we know. Celestia could have been married for hundreds of years to a male alicorn who was killed by Sombra or something. We don't know. Foxy Socks 2,600 August 27, 2016 Share August 27, 2016 (edited) They aren't due to me not being there. ...They probably wouldn't care for me xD Probably because they don't want to. They have other things to do, and maybe no one is for them yet. Guest August 27, 2016 Share August 27, 2016 When I first read this I kept thinking it meant Luna and Celestia marrying each other, and I was so confused because they're sisters, lol. That's what I thought too! Can't help but snicker at the thought now. But for real though, I've always liked to believe that they just don't feel the need to. Marriage just isn't something that one must do. Or if that's not the case, maybe they have had partners but they've died already. That would probably be a little too dark though. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,874 August 27, 2016 Share August 27, 2016 Odd title. I think because they are essentially immortal, they don't bother with finding love at this point. On top of this, they most likely have quite the busy lifestyle, being immense royalty and all that. I bet they can barely find the time to go onto Hoofbook or whatever websites they would have. XD Yeah...that's not what I meant. To be fair the title of the thread doesn't make that very clear, nor does the description following it.

Red Cedar 1,408 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 Because they're sisters. Oh, you mean to other ponies. Well, I would imagine it would be mildly depressing, to say the least, to watch a loved one grow old and die knowing there was nothing you could do to stop it, and that you would continue on without them indefinitely. 1 Roleplaying OC: Red Cedar - Cast Character: Applejack
Discordian 6,015 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 There are better ways to spend your time. It'd be a waste if they had to spend so much time doing the princess thing with thousands (tens of thousands?) of subjects and never have time for a lover. They already give special attention to Twilight and her gang, I dunno if they could afford any more free time.
Steve Piranha 29,448 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 Who says they haven't been married? 1000 years is a long time, and even counting sources other than the show, like the books and comics, we still don't know about everything that's happened in that time. Maybe they're not married right now, but that doesn't mean they never were. Their spouses could have passed on, or they broke up for some reason or another. Though, I'd imagine it'd be hard for Luna to get married during those 1000 years on the moon. And Celestia at least has had a relationship with Mirror universe Sombra in the comics. Well, except that the writers have mentioned occasionally that they've never married . Sig by Discords

Sonic5421 428 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 On a more serious and relevant note, I think the fact they are immortal would cause quite a few political problems if they chose to take a husband. The other nobles would literally be fighting amongst each other for the chance to marry into the royal bloodline. If it could also be assumed that the princesses are fertile, it would cause further problems as you would suddenly have ponies of noble birth (possibly even alicorns, considering how Flurry Heart was the product of unicorn and a pegasus-turned-alicorn) who had legitimate claims to either of their titles. In other words, by remaining celibate, Luna and Celestia are able to prevent any possible uprisings involving pretenders attempting to push their claims and usurp the throne of Equestria. That sounds like a good theory to why the Royal Sisters have not taken a husband since becoming co-sovereigns of Equestria. They would want to avoid a rebellion or revolution if they did take a husband so as to continue the royal bloodline.
SpectraDust 149 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 I understood the title fine. XD They probably aren't getting married, because they want their Royal Duties to be top priority. Or because there isn't really any need for them to be married. I really couldn't see them getting married to anypony anyway.
FeatherDataReborn 137 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 Are you serious? They are sisters. Unless you mean Celestia and Luna have a spouse of their own, in that case, it is because they don't need marriage, and they rule over Equestria together as sisters. Hazard Time 1,127 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 (edited) That sounds like a good theory to why the Royal Sisters have not taken a husband since becoming co-sovereigns of Equestria. They would want to avoid a rebellion or revolution if they did take a husband so as to continue the royal bloodline. That's the main problem with having an immortal ruler open to marriage and interbreeding with mortal vassals. Assuming both princesses were to take a new husband every century, there would be an enormous and complicated royal family. The problem, as you might have guessed already, is that while all of Celestia's and Luna's children and their descendants will have claims to their titles, they will never have a chance to inherit them. As such, you could have a myriad of reactions: They seek to emulate the princesses and use their status to better Equestria, They see their existence as pointless and so fall into decadence, or They become indignant towards the princesses and so attempt to enforce their claims through rebellion. Let's also not forget that with Celestia and Luna begetting so many children, there would be a LOT of these ponies. Edited September 1, 2016 by Hazard Time Roleplaying for Eight Years and Counting! Eloquence 2,076 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 In general, people (and presumably ponies) prefer to date others who are similar in what I would call "mental age". Someone of a similar maturity level who can understand the other's mentality in that sense. Considering that, Luna and Celestia's respective dating pools would be... probably non-existent. The only being we know of even vaguely similar in age to them is Discord, and that would be, erm, complicated given their extensive history as enemies, not to mention that I don't think Discord is at a place currently where he can handle a romantic relationship. So that would be my answer. They're not with anyone because really who would a couple of functionally ageless beings be with at this point in their ridiculously long lives? FizzyGreen 909 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 My best guess would be that, while they both did have a great time in young years, they couldn't have husbands, because they need stand alone as the gods of the world. If they would ever be to meet someone to rule together with, it would have to be the perfect one for them. Yes, they would also have to alicorns, partly because C&L would outlive them otherwise ;_;. ...And be perfect. For example, Celestia. She would have to know for a 100% "Yes! This is the one." Love him for every of his aspects, for personality, for powers, for what decisions he makes, for how he fits to her, for everything! Just the perfect partner for the god of the day. The same for luna, she would need someone, who is perfect to rule over the night along side her. And i guess up until now they just didn't meet such ponies. Spartan 433 September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 Im sure this has been said, But if either of them would get married their mates would gain political power, atleast if things worked the way they did back in the day. If this is true, than they don't want someone to have more political power than them and have a chance of something bad happening.
