2012 or 2013 Basically; whenever season 4 came out on Netflix in Canada, but before then , To my knowledge my sister was watching the old movies from G3, I hated it. But when G4 came around in 2010, I still hated it. but 3-ish years later, I decided to give it a try, I really liked the show since then eventually awkwardly explaining it to my parents as we all do at some point, they didn't react much, it was more of 'a tv show's intended gender geographic never matters' kind of reaction.

 

Well even though you didn't ask for a backstory, here it is, and here I am, it's nearly 2017 and I'm still a brony.

I had joined the fandom in the summer of 2014 during the long hiatus. I had seen some PMV's of songs I liked and news videos about the bronies and decided to give the show a try on Netflix streaming. Needless to say I completed the first 4 seasons and the Equestria Girls movies by Christmas.

First Encounter - Somewhere in 2014

My first encounter with MLP was somewhere in 2014, Summer I believe? It was Equestria Girls Movie randomly aired in TV. Though I loved that movie, I absolutely wasn't into the pony thing yet. I wasn't even curious - it was just like any other animated movie. However, it affected the chain of events later.

 

Starting Watching - 1st March 2015

Somewhere around February 2015, my graphic card died, thus disallowing me from using my PC. Since I was jobless at that time, I had tons of free time, so when I was unable to play games etc. I ended up watching YT on my smartphone. At first I was watching some random stuff, mostly parodies. One of them involved ponies and I admit, it was pretty funny, so it later linked me to another parodies with ponies. These were 'x meets My Little Pony' series, that I loved. That reminded me of the 'Cafeteria Song' from Equestria Girls movie, that got stuck in my head, so I wanted to listen to it again. That made me want to watch that movie again, which happened on 1st March 2015 +/- few days? Though I believe it was 1st March.

Then, I found Rainbow Rocks and got curious about the whole pony thing. ..Aaaaaand the adventure started. My first pony episode was 'Winter Wrap Up' and I loved it. After watching it, I feel in love with MLP and started watching all the seasons from the beginning.

 

Ponifying My Brain - 2015 ~ 2016

I watched all available episodes on my phone and when I got my PC repaired - I started browsing the internet for more pony thingies. I played some pony games (Fighting is Magic, MLP Fighting the Unknown, War of Harmony etc.) and then suddenly wanted to make my own pony game. I was like "if fans can make simple pony games, then it shouldn't be that hard, right?" aaaaaand I started working with a game-making software around May 2015. It wasn't going well, so I was looking for some tutorials etc. and bumped into forums dedicated to that software. On 03 Jun 2015 I've joined that forum to ask questions around. I never was a forum-guy - I was always playing games and stuff like this before. With time, things were getting better and I started to kiiiiiiinda get addicted to these forums (made ~4000 posts within a year or something like this). I liked the community and stuff. That's how my life changed - I've got hobbies - game developing and browsing forums.

And to clarify - though I loved pony content, I wasn't in the fandom yet. I was just doing few things, but didn't communicate with bronies, nor call myself as one. Just loving ponies on my own, while not caring about the fanbase. ^^

 

Joining The Fandom - 9th June 2016

When I was working on a pony game, I was looking for some references and stuff like this on the internet. I've bumped into MLP forums multiple times, but never really felt like making an account here, since I was active on the other forums (to clarify: non-pony related) already and I didn't really see the reason to make one here.

After some time I was like "You know what? Why not!" and decided to join the herd, thus officially join the fandom. So my join date in my profile (9th June 2016) signifies the date, where I officially started interacting with the fandom.

Ahhh, I still remember the time when I joined the fandom. April 2012, a week before the season 2 finale. I had just finished watching the 1st 2 seasons in a span of a week. Prior to that, the first fan-animated content that I watched that convinced me to give the show a chance was the MLP x Phoenix Wright crossover, Turnabout Storm. 4 & 1/2 years later, I am glad that I gave the show a chance and have not looked back since  .

June 12, 2013. I remember the date because it was four days before the release of the first Equestria Girls movie. I got all the way through Season 3 and watched it by September I believe. I was watching 6 episodes a day some days. I joined this site eight days later.

 

Wow it's already been 3 1/2 years? It feels like it was only last year... I guess it's been that long?
