Why do some hate Zephyr Breeze?

I loved Soft Breeze Breeze. I thought he was hilarious. It was also a really God Fluttershy episode. She was at her best there. Hope to see more of him. But I've noticed that some people really hate him. Why is that? I just don't get it.

He's lazy, tries to pawn his work off to others, treats his parents pretty badly, and won't leave RD alone. That's plenty of reasons right there why people might hate him.

As for me...Eh, I don't hate him. He's scared of failing at life and seems to feel useless when compared to his sister, who despite her shyness is pretty successful, has saved Equestria multiple times, and is living the life she wants. That's not an excuse for his terrible actions, but it's the kind of feeling I can understand and sympathize with him on.

That's not saying much though, I'm not one to hate much. You have to try really darn hard to make me actually get even close to "Hating" a character. Other people can get to that kind of feeling much easier it seems.

I can relate to him personally. I've had trouble getting motivated to do things before also. So seeing him not being able to accomplish his goals was something relatable. And I thought he was hilarious

He's an unpleasant asshole, and a lazy freeloader who spends the entire episode just being an ass who never did any work and/or made other people do it for him. And then the episode throws in this sob story about how he has to live in his sister's shadow and tries to get us to root for him, despite the fact that the episode did absolutely nothing to ever deserve it.

Zephyr Breeze is the stereotype lazy child who loves to mooch off of his family by taking advantage of their pity towards him, and until he was given a harsh talking to by Fluttershy, he showed no signs of wanting to change his ways. Sure, he was redeemed in the end but the fact is before that happened, he was essentially a freeloader. His voice was also grating at times especially when he tries to come off as wanting to prove his laziness was something to be proud of.

He was meant to be disliked (at least, until he turns around), but, as ever, the fandom don't know middle ground :dash:. Same was with Diamond Tiara and to a lesser extend, Silver Spoon  >_>

I think some dislike him because of psychology. Simply put, Zephyr makes some self-conscious because of the millennial stereotype. Because it is rightfully perceived as an unjustified stereotype, some get very defensive. A good amount of this is also why I saw a lot of commentary about Moondancer. The difference is that Moondancer was a well written character who you could empathize with. It was harder with Zephyr to do that. Note, I like the character. But it's textbook pyche 101.

Zephyr is an absolute travesty of a character. Firstly, he was destructive to his own parent's belongings. Secondly, he was an asshole to pretty much everyone and thought he was just amazing. Third, he is ismply a giant stereotype, because the episode pretty much says that anyone that still lives with their parents in adulthood is a lazy and worthless bum and to top all of this off, they tried to make us like him and root for him at the end when he really didn't show anything different in his character, other than 'he can do this one thing on his own'. I am pretty sure that doesn't change anything for him being a dick.

He was hilarious! And his voice actor did a great job! He's to be the pinnacle of cringe! :D :D

Oh ok. Yeah I loved Soft Breeze Breeze. :D

Dramatic, self-indulgent and opportunistic. With a serious dislike for personal responsibility.

It somehow reflects my histrionic personality, and I can't help but smile.

Yeah he was hilarious.mop

For most of the episode, he was unrelatable. But once his fear of failure comes out, I surprisingly sympathize with him. So I'll say he's 70% unlikeable, 30% surprisingly relatable.

He was meant to be a street put e. That's why him.

those who hate him would come under one of these reasons:

- He's a free loading student, and some of us have been that person or have had to deal with that person and its not a good thing.

- His attitude towards his parents.

- His forced ship on Rainbow Dash

- He has a man bun (unforgivable!)

You weren't supposed o like his flirting Rainbow. It was awkward annoying and forced. That was the point.

For most of the episode, he was unrelatable. But once his fear of failure comes out, I surprisingly sympathize with him. So I'll say he's 70% unlikeable, 30% surprisingly relatable.

I still have this fear of failing at the things I want to do in life. And as much as I hate to admit it, I didn't move out until just a few years ago. Although it's not because I wanted to stay with my folks. I couldn't wait to leave, but the recession was still in effect, and I had a hard time getting a job because of it. Before I finally did get a decent paying job, I've had siblings pushing me around, calling me a freeloader and leaving all kinds of condescending emails. I wanted it to end, and I felt powerless to do anything about it. So on that level, I can relate to Zephyr Breeze, and it's the one thing that saves that episode from being complete trash.

None of that stops Zephyr from being such an unlikeable, pompous jerk-off. He knows he's not where he needs to be. Yet rather than seeking help, he acts like he fucking knows everything, and he tries dictating what his parents should do with their home to accommodate his selfish ideas. And this stupid affectation that he speaks in just reeks of degeneracy. He gives people who had the same difficulties in real life a bad image. It's the one thing about this show I ever took offense to. Not everybody who's struggling to get on their feet is an egotistical loser like him. And each time I reflect on my own experiences where others painted me with the same brush, he just gets even more unbearable. I genuinely hope I never see him with a speaking role ever again.

He's a lazy jerk which is an ABSOLUTELY unforgivable crime, it makes you the COMPLETE AND UTTER scum of the Earth, someone who is beyond redemption. Brainwashing ponies, torturing them by removing their cutie marks, falsely imprisoning ponies, attempt at murder, evading arrest, breaking and entering, destroying the space time continuum, committing several war crimes, and straight up taking away someone's free will are nothing compared with being a sort of lazy d-bag, that is utter fucking despicable distilled.  You have a good reason and feel sorry well to bad it's the literal worst thing anyone can ever do ever, no exceptions, we'd kill you right away for your utter horrendous crimes but we can't.

Well, if  you think about it, he's kind of like a lot of people in the world today.

First off, he's just downright horrible to his parents. You never should freeload.

I thought he was hilarious. Best brother. :D

He was an unlikeable jerk, but that's what he was supposed to be. In that regard he's not really a bad character.

Yeah exactly he was the !d

Wow you really hate Starlight. I loved her. She was one of the best things about season six for me.

He is nearly every bad stereotype folks have of the young generation....

Oh ok I can see rare that.d

Yes, yes I do massively hate her.

I love her. She was one of the best things about season six for me.

Speaking as an old fogey, he comes off as a negative stereotype of "what's wrong with kids today"  + he has the most unfortunate haircut this side of Scootaloo.

I guess so. I thought he was hilarious.

He's a mooching user. He quite willingly and intentionally destroyed much of his father's cloud collection so he could have a place to stay when he forced his parents to let him move back in. Look back at the episode. he was throwing the jars out the window, smashing them. The creep committed a crime. Theft and destruction of property. His mother and father should have called the Cloudsdale law enforcement and had him carted away.

Seriously, that made me angry to see. Yes, they made it silly because his father collected clouds. Think of it like this. What if his father collected Fabergé Eggs? The useless son decided that since he wanted to live in the back house, he'd just destroy his father's prized collection. I can't get passed that. It was a downright evil thing to do to his dad.
