DOGS! Grew up with them and love them to death. When I come home to visit family, they have a basset hound that is so playful and adorable and I love him. Doges are the BEST! (No offense to cat-lovers, I don't mind cats but they're just not my cup of tea)

I'm a fan of cats, reptiles, birds, and some fish (mostly bettas). I grew up with everything from cats to iguanas to my sister's ferrets. What I really want is a cockatoo, but I think they require at least a couple hours of attention and socializing daily to be happy. They've been known to imitate people they hear laughing, though, which cracks me up.

I like almost all animals (if you discount creepy crawlies as being animals) but I absolutely adore dogs. They're so loving and sweet. They're almost like having little people around your house who can't talk and walk on all fours. And they're just so cute. And there's so much diversity and so many breeds of dog. I could just go on forever talking about dogs. <3<3<3

I love dogs, although the really small ones that make loads of noise and want to fight everything just annoy me. I have two Border Collies and I love the hell out of them.

 

I do like cats, but they often don't seem to like me.

So I recently moved to a new town in a new apartment and I have my first roommate. Now she has a cat, and that's funny because I love, love, love, love cats!

 

Why I love cats:

1. They love you back when you love them

2. They don't need tons of attention

3. They basically take care of themselves

4. They aren't really hyper all the time

5. I haven't met many cats that are just over-the-top vocal (though some are)

6. They're pretty easy to live with since they're so lazy anyway.

7. I love the sound of purring and meowing

8. They kill and eat mice

 

Things I don't like about cats

1. Compared to dogs, which can be trained to go to the door, cats use a litterbox. Those are never fun to clean

(You might be able to teach your cat to go to the door. I've had one who does that but that's it.)

2. Claws...teeth...sharp...ow...and I've heard getting them de-clawed can make them aggressive, or even more so if you have an aggressive cat.

3. They like to scratch things...my roommate's cat has taken a liking to my new furniture, which wasn't cheap. We're working on that, though.

4. Unless it's a short-haired cat, you're gonna be dealing with shed-zilla.

 

 

Now, just because I'm a cat person doesn't mean I don't like dogs. I love dogs! Unlike cats, dogs are just all about you. They can love you so much. But some breeds that need to get out and exercise can be hard to deal with when you're having a slow day and others can't be kept in an apartment because they need to get out. But I just love me some puppies! Okay, I just have a soft spot for anything that's cute. Doubt me? Ponies. Nuff said.

 

So yeah, I guess my intent in posting this thread is to ask what your favorite pet is and why it's your favorite pet! There's mine! And....go

Dogs and fish! Here's my top 5 reasons for each:

 

Dogs

1. They're loyal and will do anything for you

2. They're sweet and plenty of them love to give kisses

3. They colme in all different shapes, sizes, and colors.

4. Each breed has interesting background and purpose.

5. They learn easily.

 

Fish:

1. They're relaxing to look at.

2. They're colorful.

3. Plenty actually have lots of personality.

4. So many species to choose from!

5. They can do the funniest things, like following your finger or sleeping in a certain spot in the tank.

loud cats aren't as loud as loud dogs

if you take time to choose your cat over a few days based on personality, instead of choosing the cutest one off the bat, there's a good chance you'll pick one that isn't mean (but the same can be said of any pet)

they're squishy

they take care of themselves for the most part, and don't need loads of attention

they do stupid things

they live long

I love loud cats who meow a lot, I have one, and he's really cute!

You can have more than 2! Where I live, you can only have 2 dogs, but cats, you can have endless >:3

Why I love them to death?

1: They are quiet and peaceful...

2: They are the most adorable species to me :3

What I don't like:

If you try to walk them they have an 80% chance to get stepped on.

I think I would have to say Dogs. I have had quite the bad experience with cats.The cats who I tend to meet are usually ass holes. I can't even count how many times I have been bitten or scratched by a cat. And plus I am mighty allergic to Cats so that's another reason. But, probably the five reasons why I love dogs are.....

 

1. They are cute and always want to spend time with you.

 

2. They come in all shapes and sizes

 

3. They are always there to show you how much they love them.

 

4. They demand attention instead of wanting to be by themselves.

 

5. Some dogs are quieter then others.

 

My dog just happens to be one of the most quietest dogs of all time. He mostly just lies around or wants to play or get his tummy scratched. I mean my dog doesn't even bark when he wants to go outside or to be fed. He just comes to find you and wants you to follow him. My dog does tend to bark when there's someone at the front door or cat/critter in the backyard. And does tend to growl if you pick him up, when he doesn't wanna be picked up. But I think my dog is one of the less vocal ones. He doesn't really bark or yap a lot.

I've been around dogs all my life, actually.

Big dogs, smaller dogs. Lazy dogs, energetic fuzzballs. Careless jerks, sticky lovers.

I've seen them all. Mostly in the family, and to a lesser extent, neighbors.

 

I especially love large dogs, they're great for play-wrestling and huggling. I had plenty of fun this summer, at Izmir, getting my arm munched on, covered in slobber and hair.

I also like cats, but we recently discovered I had an allergy, which is a shame. My mom owned three cats (a mom and her two kittens) as a teen, so she knows plenty about them.

 

I've recently been wanting a pet scorpion or tarantula, they're pretty easy to take care of. The fact that I have the Deadly Creatures game probably plays a major role in that, lol.

My dream is to own a donkey, but I guess that's not happening anytime soon. I just have my plushie, Samson, who draws cuteness from his ears. c: *snugs Samson*

I'm pretty sure having a tame fox would be happiness squared. They always make me think of the Japanese culture, where fox spirits are depicted as great lovers and faithful wives.

I don't know if foxes are actually more loving than other animals (especially after seeing this video), but they certainly are clever critters. I've read, in a book about carnivores, that they sometimes lure prey by rolling on the ground and acting crazy - and a fox lover recently confirmed it for me.

But one killed her sister. Then she grew old. So I got two more, male this time. One randomly died and them Mitch, the oldest, got really obese. But soooo cute
