It would be terrible. Not only should not real world religions be added in that kind of manner ponies do not wear clothes usually anyway. We need to remember the reason such garments are used and if one would appear in Equestria it would suddenly imply that there is a section of populace that has issue with naked ponies (especially mares) and no matter what reason they would have for the objection it would make thinking about naked ponies again more awkward.

Cloaks are fine but that is different garment for a different purpose (to shield you from weather or conceal your identity).

The show does have a tendency to invoke culture through clothing, particularly through characters like Saffron, Coriander, the Duke and Duchess of Maretonia, and to a lesser degree the Saddle Arabian delegates.

Perhaps it's my Rarity side that wants to point out that while clothing is depicted often as more of a means of expression and art than functional, but it is still very much popular and somewhat ubiquitous to the ponies.

Hasbro's goal of making MLP as Marketable worldwide doesn't have much room for the inclusion of Religion.

The global focus really limits the content of their shows, and for the case of MLP there's no need to risk the alienation they could potentially encounter.

That'd be a neat inclusionary gesture, even if it were just a background pony. I'm not sure how I feel about so direct a religious analogue, but MLP has had characters resembling real-world cultures before, and it's unlikely that the show would make any mention of the religious component of it. Just one pony who happens to be wearing a hijab would be pretty cool.

I Personally DO see Celestia and Luna as that worlds Deity's, as A: they are Immortal, and B: One raises the Sun the other the Moon, imo that equates to Deity  Cadance too is immortal and her  realm of influence is Love

Cadance isn't immortal like Celestia and Luna. She was born a normal pony before evolving into an alicorn, meaning she'll still have a mortal lifespan. Same story with Twilight.

As I see Equestria as being the equivalent of Europe, it wouldn't make sense to me to have ponies wear it for the most part. However, it would make sense to me if it were given to primarily horses of Saddle Arabia.

I think it would be fine to have a random background pony having a hijab is just fine,  I mean,  young girls of all types watch this show and I think would show a good support and shout out to these young girls of Muslim faith.  I not talking about going all religions and stuff but sometimes just showing a "yes we know your there and we support you"  as they have done with the Bronies can say a lot of a show that has themes of friendship and being equal.

I'm not a fan of simple shout out pandering like an article of clothing to appeal to a specific culture.

They could do a pony who doesn't like to walk around nude or one who wears it because they are bald.

Hijabs are apparently a thing, and the world didn't end. In fact until @Dark Qiviut mentioned it to me, I didn't even notice.

This is not actually a hijab as hijabs cover up the neck. This is really just a coat with a hoodie.

We should also have pony nuns, hinduists and crusaders and holy wars lolz.

I know they have priest for funerals. MLP was either way created in USA, so unless you get feminists to create some good show that people ACTUALLY wanna see, then good luck!!!

Lauren Faust is not an extreme feminist from what i understand, though she does identify as one.

They shouldn't add any religious items to the show. Keep religion out of it, unless they intend to add in other faiths as well.I think the closest you're going to get is Saddle Arabia.

Plus, shouldn't they be praising Celestia and Luna?

so you want religious items left out, but it's fine for ponies to praise Sunbutt and Pollbreaker like they're gods (which they clearly are NOT)?

Well they control the friggin moon and sun!!! i don't think you get more divine than that. So they are essentially the divine entities of this world.

The reason why the hijab works is because it's not strictly a religious thing, in many places they are more just fashion (like Indonesia, a good portion of the muslim women there don't wear it).

Not really:

f7accbc8c226fd48d8c4579ef37aad8d--hijab-

The yellow thing she is wearing appears to both cover her mane and go around the front like the "modern-style hijab, covering the neck is not actually a requirement. The garment is odd though because it's both inside and outside her hood. Doesn't really matter anyway as it's close enough to evoke the feeling, especially when combined with the climate.

So can regular unicorns, as we've seen in Hearth's Warming Eve. More divine would be the Tree of Harmony, which has much more esoteric powers which guide the ponies.

Hijabs were actually originally pragmatic, they keep the sand out of your hair. It had nothing to do with modesty at first, that just came about from a popular interpretation of the quran, which is also where the name came from as hijab didn't originally refer to the hair covering. If you've ever been to Arabia you would understand.

its like the autistic muppet thing we wouldn't be ready for reglious items in mlp such as hijabs crosses prayer beads so on so forth remember religion like autism is a touchy subject if done poorly Hasbro will receive backlash but at this time I really don't think we are ready for anything like this in mlp  now religion is a bit touchier then autism all though in the worlds current state people mainly sjws would lose their shit if this subject were to be hanldled in anyway

Who complained about Julia? The world is plenty ready, and Sesame street has always been doing controversial stuff. The actual issue is that that earthly religion doesn't make sense in Equestria, but a pony wearing a hijab isn't necessarily a muslim pony.

that's the most sane thing ive heard all week thank you how much are you wiling to bet these sjws would cry and beg for this change then once Hasbro gives in they turn around and scream racism and islamophobia  theres no pleasing those hpyocrites

There is nothing sane about what he said. The first sentence was just Islamaphobic (yeah, not racist, but so what? Racism isn't the only form of bigotry), the second one shows blatant ignorance of Arabian culture (they HATE Persians, it has nothing to do with harem, but actually has to do with the fact the two cultures have always been rivals, Persians are Indo-European while Arabs are Semitic, and it's a huge mistake to confuse the two), and the third was just unnecessary, sounds like he was just trying to justify his Islamaphobia. All that comment and yours is whining about the non-issue of SJWs.

I don't see anything wrong with showing a pony wearing a hijab, whether it's a background character or a new secondary character. I mean, aren't the Pie family loosely depicted as Amish in certain episodes? Igneous Rock Pie's design in particular. As far as I've seen religion isn't referenced in any of the Pie Family episodes, despite design choices. So couldn't the same be done with a pony wearing a hijab?
