Proud to be called a fan, and not a Brony or Pegasister

While some people might be fine with labels that separate gender and generations, I'm not. I don't like the terms Brony or Pegasister, because why the need to put sexes at opposite sides of the room, rather than one umbrella term? Additionally, since I am a fan of ALL the My Little Pony generations, these g4 specific labels do not apply to me.

Who is a fan of all gens, and content to just be a fan, rather than squeezed into sexist labels generated by g4's male following?

Thoughts on these labels, as a g4 Only fan?

I'm a girl and refer to myself as a brony more than a pegasister tbh. I like the terms myself and never thought of them to be sexist. Than again I never thought of the terms too much XP

"Brony" was created as an umbrella term for fans of FIM regardless of gender and still is referred to it as such today. "Pegasister" was revived under the assumption that "brony" solely stands for "male fan."

I don't talk about it that much anymore, but my thoughts remain the same. I hate "pegasister," because it carries the sexist idea that male, female, and androgynous bronies should be separated into islands of communities rather than be combined into one cohesive community. "Brony," fortunately, doesn't have that connotation because the "bro" is used as a term of endearment.

I don't really feel the need to use the whole Brony label anymore.  I mean I like the show and fan content, but I find it silly to give yourself some arbitrary title and define yourself as a person based on the shows you watch.  Plus I am a fan of a bunch of other shows that I might even like more than FIM, and those shows don't force fans to take up titles, or the very least I don't have any titles for being a fan of the new Voltron series, the Pokémon franchise, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, or both Avatar cartoons.  Plus I find the term Brony to sound rather silly anyways.

Hmmm...yes, sexism is wrong, but i heard, that they are a few females that like to call themselves pegasisters.

I honestly dont really care, if someone uses the terms or not. You can call yourself Pegasister or Brony.

For the Generation thing, yes, Fans of the entire Franchise should call themselves Fans of Mlp and not just Bronys, since it seems to be, that the majority of Bronys either havent watched the old Stuff or doesnt like it, so i also prefer to call myself a Fan, instead of a Brony. Even though, since most people now quicker what you mean, i also call myself a Brony on here. So, i guess im not really following my own Opinion. XD

Why dont we create another term, for People, that just like the Franchise in general? Like.........Okay, i have no Idea. How about, we call Fans of the entire thing just Ponys?....okay, maybe not, i dont know.

as they said brony was created for everyone. for example its "brony music". and means its music based on mlp, it doesnt mean is music made only by males or only to be listen by males.

pegasitsters wasnt created for everyone. but i dont care, i find both cute. so if anyone calls themself brony/pegasister i would be like "AW CUTE:pinkie:"

imo "brony" is faster to say than "mlp fan" or "fan of mlp" so its better xD also "brony" feels like its more appasionate than a regular mlp fan, but its just my headcanon

nowdayss im a brony B)

The generic term is simply 'Brony' anyways, so I am not sure what the problem here is. There are gender labels that do bother me, but this is definitely not one of them. It is all just for fun. I have always liked the terms Brony and Pegasister and it will stay that way.

I actually do prefer to call myself a brony but not through gender context. I use the term to inform others that I'm a fan of the show and nothing more.

This is how I view it and how my teenage daughter views it as well. I'm a brony and she refers to herself as a brony, not a pegasister.

Ehh, to each their own. I have no problem with referring to myself as a brony. But it's just a label and there's no rule forcing FiM fans to use a certain label. One of my best friends in real life goes by both "brony" and "pegasister." She clearly doesn't mind either one. But whatever floats your boat.
