What do you think faust meant by this?

So in faust's show bible faust not so subtly hinted at something else as dash's Destiny besides joining the wonderbolts, possibly as a secondary thing, possibly as a replacement instead as her destiny.
What do you think she meant by "or perhaps fate has something more in store for her" in regards to her Wonderbolt dream?

That would be my guess. Element of Loyalty and all of that; plus being seen as a hero all over, helping the gryphons, bringing back the Pillars, etc.

It's quite possible this statement is intentionally vague to indicate an openness to different paths depending on the way the plot developed. If you were to consider RD joining the Wonderbolts to be a very far-flung idea and possibly never obtained idea, given the uncertainty of the show lasting any given number of seasons, you wouldn't put everything for your character's future down in permanent ink.

That said, I could hope myself that RD and the rest of the Mane 6 have a greater future than what they've achieved already. Fluttershy and Rarity are already looking to more proactive goals than what they originally envisioned, for example. There can be more to RD than the Wonderbolts has to offer.

And yeah, could just refer to the elements, but saying that, I had kind of wanted the rest of the Mane 6 to eventually augment their personal goals slightly so that they might better support the whole friendship mission stuff and sort of act in more official roles alongside Twilight. Not saying that was ever the original goal, just a personal wish

I think it’s just her possibly saying that Dash might NOT have had what it took to be a Wonderbolt, but that even if she didn’t succeed in that dream, she’s still an Element of Harmony and has an excellent important place in the world.

Given how crappy the wonderbolts were portrayed (episodes like Wonderbolt academy and rarity investigates) I honestly would have loved for Dash to have decided the wonderbolts were great childhood heroes but not what she truly wanted to be after getting to know them. Like forming her own flight team or deciding to become a full time adventurer like daring do, or hell, something like those alternate timelines where she was a military commander in the NMM and sombra lines.

Its a bit past time for that now of course, but I still had kind of wanted a different route from S3 onward.

Yeah, I agree with both of these, especially given how fucking Newbie Dash turned out

But since she's in them now, at the very least there's still the possible for her to become captain or lead a new generation of WBs in the future. At the very least just give her episodes that builds relationships with certain key members, because even now they still don't feel like they're her friends, just a group of good fliers that happen to fly with her. Fuck, do anything that can make up for that shitshow

Rainbow Dash clearly has much deeper, more vaguely defined desires than simply joining the Wonderbolts. They were just a tangible goal to aim for that RD thought would help her achieve them. Just because she's in them now doesn't mean she's truly satisfied and it doesn't mean there aren't other goals for her to aim for, whatever they might be.

While I'm not on the Newbie Dash/Wonderbolt hate train, I do think it would be an interesting direction for the show to go to have RD realize that being a Wonderbolt didn't solve all her insecurities the way she had imagined it would. It would be an especially mature and relatable conflict in this age where a lot of people end up switching careers every five years..
