Just because we continue to see the Mane 8, Discord, or the CMCs doesn't mean their personalities will remain exactly the same. Twilight's still adorkable, but is much more mature and self-responsible now. Fluttershy from S1 would've curled into a fetal position in Health of Info, but the FS now is much more self-confident and self-assuring; she can handle such pressure now. The CMCs have evolved a ton since their basic child characterizations from S1. Many characters have come so far, but still have a ways to go, too.

A lot of people up there have already pointed out similar thoughts to mine here. The merchandise may not treat Starlight as a Mane character, but the Mane 6 do treat her in-universe as she should be: an equal friend. As long as she remains a good moral character sometimes struggling with her flaws, this so-called "controversy" doesn't bother me and honestly is not worth getting wrap up in.

Anyhoo, even though Starlight has pretty much had an overused amount of episodes in season 7, I still think there's more for her than just that! Every character has more to them, especially Spike, who needs way more episodes than the writers have been giving him lately. But that doesn't cancel out the fact that all the Mane Six, Starlight, Discord, the CMCs, and a bunch of other characters could use more in their stories. My problem with the characters in the show is not a character having too much attention, but more like, certain characters like Spike are receiving too little attention.

I’m really glad to hear that, she deserves all the love and respect she can get. Starlight wouldn’t be the same character without her amazing performance.

Even if Starlight is a member of the mane cast now, it doesn't always really feel like it.  I mean the amount of attention she receives in the 2 part episodes definitely makes it feel like the staff are pushing her to be a main character, yet in regular slice of life episodes, she doesn't feel like that.  She is just so detached from the members of the mane 6 not named Twilight, that I really don't see them as being as good friends as the show wants us to see them as.  Season 7 made me like her character, but she still really needs more personal interactions with Applejack, Pinkie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy to make Starlight actually feel like a part of the group.

I know that, but ImperfectXIII still won’t listen. He keeps forbidding Starlight to be in the Main characters’ appearances chart under the policy on official material of the MLP Wiki.

And don’t treat ImperfectXIII that way; he’s made over 100,000 edits there like a true Wiki expert.

Don't see much of a controversy anymore, really. The fandom is certainly still divided about Starlight and her role in the show, but it's not as bad as it used to be. It's calmed down quite a bit.

Isn't the final authority the producers? They make good and bad decisions, but certainly, they are the one's who stand to lose the most if they F up - not us. So I like to believe that they make rather calculated and thoughtful story decisions. All in good fun of course!

Well, at least she got to interact a lot with other Mane6 not named Twilight in mid S8

 . At least that episode did something necessary, because, as much as I love the hot ex-communist horse, I agree that's a constant issue with her plotwise. Maybe that's one of the main reasons of why her interaction with Sunny in Mirror Magic was strong, it was refreshing

I think we should let them decide what to do. The show been amazing for 7 seasons and still going strong. They usually have better ideas than we do. I would say i would like to see more Celestia and Luna.

Hasbro sees Starlight as a means of earning them more profit through toy sales so to have her make more meaningful appearances enables the company to achieve that goal. Despite what the writing staff wishes to do, at the end of the day, what Hasbro says goes and they must comply. With Starlight herself, I view her as a secondary character, much like Spike, the CMC, Celestia and Luna, Cadance and Shining Armour, and the Apple Family. They warrant their own adventures but aren't established enough to truly be given the starring role unless Hasbro is trying to promote something.

I dont think that i personally contribute for the main 6 to get pushed back. I mean, i want to see more Starlight, but im not talking to the Stuff or anything and the only rating or critic i ever gave the show, was a thumbs up on Netflix. Hasbro can do whatever they want to do with Mlp, its their Franchise and im just a Fan. If they decided to kick Starlight out, its fine with me. I will support their decisions because its their franchise and not mine.

I appreciate all of what everyone’s saying.

No matter how much we all love and want Starlight Glimmer more on the show, she’s always going to get a fair (and not an oversized) number of episodes every season, which is what the show’s staff is doing right now.

So I’m still gonna say no matter how much screen time Starlight will get in Season 9, there’s always still room for a Pinkie/Fluttershy episode AND other new stuff for that matter, as long as we don’t see a lot of the same old stuff from seasons past.

That's right, but the main characters should definitly appear the most. I would like to see more episodes though. 3 in season 8 aren't enough. I wanted to see around 5 or 6.

All I see is: Starlight is no main character, because she isn't on the cover of a dvd and that's why she doesn't deserve an episode.
