Suppose the Mane 6 were turned evil.

In many different forms of fiction we have seen the heroes at some point be turned evil and start doing evil deeds through mind control.

I was thinking about that concept for MLP and the Mane 6. Suppose Twilight Sparkle and the other Mane 5 were placed under mind control and turned evil?

How would they express themselves in an evil way? What evil deeds would each one do?

Now I'm not talking about like in the first encounter with Discord back in Season 2, there, the Mane 6 were made to act the opposite way of their Elements of Harmony. I'm talking about the Mane 6 turning to the dark side. 

How cool of a concept would that be?

How would each Mane 6 member act evil in their own way?

Would this make for a great episode or two parter?

Depends on how they turned evil and what they did. 

If they were brainwashed into kicking puppies, then it would suck. It's evil sadism for the sake of it. The only cool bits would be seeing secondary characters like the CMC, The princesses, family members and even former villains step up to try and stop the new antagonists. 

What would be more interesting is the mane 6 fell to the dark side in route to defending Equestria. Maybe they've become jaded or disillusioned to protecting a country that wont protect itself. Maybe they seek a perminant solution to evil artifacts and dark magic. Maybe they want a more militaristic Equestria? Maybe each one takes their own element to a twisted extreme. 

Pinkie spreads laughter through others misfortune. Fluttershy is kind only to those who obey her. Applejack is brutally honest. Dashie is fanatically loyal. Rarity is generous, for a fee. And Twi delves deep into the uses of dark magic. 

The how and the why are very important questions to ask when someone goes 'evil'.

But being serious, I think it's very possible that the mane six would become twisted versions of their own elements if they were turned evil, you could say they would become an "anti-element" to the ones they currently possess. I think they may become evil without even realizing it, thinking that they must take their own elements to the extreme to achieve some goal, such as a better Equestria as stated above, and in the process twist themselves and their elements, not realizing what they did was bad or evil until after they have been defeated.

The could rule Equestria, making warped versions of their elements mandatory instead of voluntary. For instance.

Honesty: You shall not lie or you shall lose your tongue.

Charity: You will donate half your income to charity or you will have no income.

Twilight would become power hungry and turn into a dictator, hording resources for technological advancement and the development of super weapons to enforce her reign. Slavery would be set in place as it would be the most efficient way to quickly gather these resources and literally keeping a part of the population in chains would cull the ability for them to rise up against her, and be well suited in dealing with her enemies. If they won't willingly work in her favor, then unwillingly it shall be.

Rainbow Dash would reform the Wonder Bolts as an elite flying force. She'd eliminate those capable of outperforming so as to maintain her status as the best flyer in all of equestria, and she'd purge the weak since they're a waste of space if they can't keep up. Society is simplified drastically in order for it to function. The economy becomes one of force. If materials are needed they shall be taken, and if others are needed to harness and process them into the demanded final product then they shall be made to under threat of absolute destruction. Cloudsdale adopts a very Spartan esque way of doing things.

Applejack turns sweet apple acres into a labor camp. She forces big mac to work and lures other members of the apple family in to make it seem like nothing more than a family business from the outside. She gets rid of granny smith as she's no longer useful, and teaches Applebloom it's be quiet and obedient. Apple products are eventually monopolized, many of them failing to do what they promise. Deals are made and often broken, always putting things in Applejack's favor. She has local businesses and broadened competitors harassed or attacked. They sell her products and ponies are forced to buy them. All parties suffer as a result if they don't cooperate. She becomes a robber baron with enough wealth and power to become untouchable. Attempting to remove her from power could see you nailed to an apple tree. Successfully removing her could destroy the whole industry leading to thousands jobless and starving with no where to turn to.

Rarity runs a fashion line made from pony skins that are prepped by child laborers in a sweatshop. She's popular, pays her taxes and other dues, most likely to corrupt officials, and no one is the wiser.

Fluttershy enjoys being in the spotlight and becomes a ponified Cruella de Vil. Probably buying Rarity's dresses if she's not supplying her own fur from the magnatudes of animals she hunts in her spare time.

Pinkie Pie,,, I think we've pretty well cemented that she's going to turn ponies into delicious treats, beyond this, maybe murder raves?

Take note that although the last three don't play as big of an impact on overall Equestrian life, that all of the main 6 are still compatible in existing under these circumstances, unless Rainbow Dash attempts to secede, in which case maybe civil war breaks out and Applejack profits from selling to both sides.

Yeah, it'd depend a lot on the how and why. I never finished reading it, but there's an arc in the comics featuring a mirror world where everyone's qualities are reversed, and while that's probably a bit different from the mane six we know becoming evil, it might be a place to start. Besides, if they were to take any joy from doing evil things, their personalities would presumably be dramatically altered. 

As far as mind control is concerned, that would probably result in them following someone else's orders, which in itself could manifest in various ways. Again, assuming they become happily amoral, many of their worst qualities would probably be enhanced: Applejack's stubbornness, Rainbow's egotism, Rarity's vanity, Twilight's control freak tendencies, etc. Pinkie and Fluttershy don't have that much of an outward dark side, so they might behave more unexpectedly. Pinkie at least would probably retain her in-your-face behaviour, but Fluttershy, like with Discord, would probably be unrecognizable. That could probably be a two-parter, but the six's behaviour would probably follow a template not unlike the Discord episode, and more fun might come from others trying to save them. 

A concept I've often considered is Twilight having another "Lesson Zero"-type incident, except with far more at stake due to her duties as a princess. That's a bit different from the scenario you've proposed, but having these characters become a danger to Equestria entirely because they improperly respond to some other threat is something that has interested me for a while now; nobody would have to act all that different, except they're a bit more anxious, a bit more severe, and possibly also a bit corrupt. Now that I would like to see.

Comics did it. #43-45. Twilight declares herself empress and steals other pony’s intelligence to make herself smarter. Rarity  wears a cloak and mask and tries to take the throne from Twilight for herself. Applejack becomes a cruel business pony. Rainbow Dash does constant sonic rain booms, causing constant disturbances. Fluttershy controls an army of animals. Pinkie becomes the Joker and plays pranks on everyone.

The IDW comics did this idea already though the canonicity is questionable as this was before the comics became closer to the show in terms of overall story. However, that shouldn't prevent anyone from coming up with their own take of what the Mane Six would be like were they to turn to darkness.

Spike's greed did lead him to excessively steal from other ponies and cause property damage in Ponyville. That was just one time of him being evil nature at one point.

I remember the comics doing this. I also remember it being quite garbage(stereotypical Business Mare AJ, them doing fuck all with RD). 

I hope the show’s attempt is better than what they cooked up in the comics
