Positive reactions to being a MLP fan

The only person I've told is my close friend, and he reacted positively (though he's a good person, so I kind of expected it)

Most people don't seem to care. In my step dad's case, he's more understanding of people liking this show than Pokemon

One of my coworkers is a huge fan of the TMNT franchise so we could be somewhat understanding of each other. Although she was a fan of the newer TV series and hadn't seen the movies from the 90's which had me dumbfounded, but considering all of the other forms of media it's taken as well as MLP that I've not indulged in, I'm in the same boat by default.

I haven’t told anyone I watch MLP, but it’s up to you if you think it’s important. I’m a new member and I think being here for one another is what embraces the fandom for MLP because i don’t think you’ll be able to have a long conversation about the show with them like the people you can here.

I tell people on the internet all the time, because I crave attention and negative reactions are usually more entertaining than positive ones. Also zero risk is involved.

IRL, I only tell very close friends and family members because I am fully aware that people knowing you're a ponyfag "in the REAL" is likely to get you lynched in the street, yo.

So far only positives. Most people don't really care if they don't follow the show or know about it, and the rest think it's cool. I've never had any problems with negativity. I sometimes wear MLP t-shirts and very often get fun and interesting comments from people of all ages. Someone actually stopped me when I was on vacation once and asked to take a picture of my shirt!

Most reactions I've gotten are alright. It's mostly along the lines of "Oh, that's neat," which I'm not complaining about, mind you.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I wouldn't say I get negative reactions, but I don't really get positive ones either.

It's more shocked reaction I get but they can't be negative when they're speechless:laugh:

I usually don't get bad reactions. Some people are surprised when I tell them, though if I walk around my university campus wearing a pony shirt, it's not uncommon for people to complement me for it. :squee:

I don't go out of my way to mention it unless the topic comes up on its own. That said, I find that people's reaction seems to be based on my own. If I say I watch it and sound embarrassed about it then people treat it like it's a bad thing. When I own it and have no reason to be ashamed for it then people tend to be cool with it, even people who hate the show are good with my confidence in it.

Frankly, after nine years I still don't get it. There is no other show on TV, now or in the past, that people felt compelled to "Confess" to others that they watch.

Like watching a children's show is a bad thing. I've never gotten this trope of our fandom either.

I was afraid at first, but when I started telling people about being a brony, I've never received a bad reaction. Ok, until now I just could make a person watch MLP, but the reactions were mostly neutral (some didn't know about MLP) and some positive.

I always get negative reactions. Like, "that's a show for little girls" and "no, grow up".

Of course, that's why I never tell anyone. (So technically I haven't gotten those responds yet)
