What Age Did You Learn How To Ride A Bike Without Training Wheels?

Now what a non-unusual question to ask :mlp_wat:.

I think I was about the same age as well. Idea behind it was funny. Good ole rigidity in space.

I never had training wheels, but I learned how to ride a bike when I was 16. When my mom was little, she saw her cousin get hit by a truck and die while riding a bike. I was never given one due to that. I went and bought one after my 16th birthday (Birthday money!) and my brother taught me how to ride it. I crashed a lot, but got the hang of it in one day. (Luckily I didn't injure myself!) My mom didn't like it, but she made me swear to obey all traffic laws.

I was like 6 or 7 without training wheels. I remember first time without training wheels I fell off in a mud puddle and skinned the shit out if my knee!

Five or six? It was very early elementary school, I remember that much. Little did I know it would start my motorcycle obsession :ButtercupLaugh:

I was probably around eight. All I remember was careening across the gravel, screaming at my parents to not let go, and to not do the ol’ pretend-to-hold-on trick.

I think it was when I was 8 or 9 while camping.

What is life? Is it nothing more than the endless search for a cutie mark? and what is a cutie mark but a constant reminder that we're all only one bugbear attack away from oblivion? And what of the poor hooman? Flank forever blank, destined to an existential swim down the river of life to...

an unknowable destiny?

Can't remember at this point, all I remember is I learned later than others, after most kids had learned to ride without. I was too afraid of crashing or riding something that didn't have a solid hold on the ground.

By the time I figured it out, it had to be one of the last years of Elementary School; first year of Middle School at the latest (because I remember riding a bike to and from Middle School many times, and I wouldn't have gone that far on training wheels).

It was actually very liberating learning how! And it's almost comical how it happened.  Everyone who tried to teach me before (family members) was trying to be nice and supportive and gentle; but that didn't help. What helped was a neighborhood kid that was a few years younger than me and half my height. He was so disapointed to learn how scared I was of riding a bike without training wheels, especially since he all ready mastered it. He actually picked on me, antagonized me, called me a whimp and stuff. I can't remember all the details, but somehow he made me so mad that I actually tried to chase him down with that bike, and then... Well, nature took over, everything clicked, and I suddenly got the hang of balancing on it and riding it regularly! (And keep in mind, this kid only provoked me to produce this outcome. He knew I just needed that push over the edge, and he was really happy for me when I finally figured it out.)

It's nice to read this topic and realize I'm not the only one who was late to the party when it comes to giving up the training wheels.  Life is not a race!

In all honesty I have no idea. I learned to ride at an early age with training wheels, and did ride for a time, but something happened that pretty much caused me to quit when I was in...junior high school I think and I've never ridden a bike since. ^^;

It was so long ago I barely remember when I learned to ride without training wheels. I think I was around 8-9 or so.

I didn’t learn (If I can say that I did, I’m not very good) until I was 15 I think.

Had bad experiences learning when I was younger so stopped for years and then one day hopped on and I had it. But you know need to practice to get good, which I don’t care to do.

I actually can't even ride a bike,
I was I think 7 or 10 (i can't remember), and my mum was starting to teach me to ride the bike without stabilizers...
then after me failing a lot to times, my gran tries to show me it's not so hard...
she started riding the bike... and fell off (although luckilly only a few scuffs and scrapes, but still)
