@@JournoPony,

Hello there. As you can see, we already has a thread for sharing reasons for our interest in MLP, what we like most about it, and the appeal behind the fandom. For convenience, I have merged your topic with the older one. Good luck, and I hope you can get some good answers. Feel free to look through back pages of this thread as well, if you're curious smile.png

Ah, thanks for pointing me here. I got worried for a bit, I thought I'd lost all my great quotes from everybody who answered my thread.

Lots of things. Mostly the characters. There is no character in the main cast that I cannot identify with on some level. They manage to make them very personal. I'm not a crier, but I nearly broke down watching Luna Eclipsed, which is big for me. Luna alone is a big reason I love this show so much.

Also I'm an equestrian myself, I've been riding for nine years now and have three horses of my own, so anything with ponies will usually grab my interest for a while.

While I do not like that RD was labeled as gay by many bronies right off of the bat because of her 'butch' personality, I love that people don't seem bothered by lesbian or gay relationships on this show. Maybe the fear of gays hasn't been eliminated in the parents, but at least it hasn't been enough to make Hasbro stop producing the show, it's a small step but it's a definitive step towards acceptance or at least tolerance IMO.

I think the show is a pleasure to look at, and quite funny most of the time.

And lastly, I love fantasy worlds and they've made a brilliant fantasy world in MLP.

The fandom is very nice, friendly and accepting. even thought, i have only met two in person i still consider all the others friends just the same.

MLP is fun and smart. in messages in the show, how could people not want that i there life (I shall never understand) but the many of us who have are making an impact for good.

I'm not really sure exactly. The arguments people has about the show having awesome animations seems a bit weird to me since it's a simple style with many animation errors.

Anyways, the main reason why I watch it is because it makes me happy, I like happy stuff and this has so much of it. The songs aren't of course any masterpieces, but it adds to the show and well looking at cute ponies apparently makes me happy. Also, there are a few moments that is quite funny in a more "childish" way. I like that.

Besides, I'm one of those types who can't stop watching once I've started with it. So I just think it's a great experience to follow these characters.

PLUS

The fandom is amazing and if you're a part of it it's a quite good idea to actually like the show since that's what the fandom was about from the start :P

well sure, but that kind of takes away peoples ability to see this, and I would like as much feedback as possible. If you must, I suppose.

Odd, this is the second question on this topic in the last few days. Both stated like 'I don't like this, why do you?' in a pleasant and non-confrontational manner. And there were several before that as well, but I can't remember exactly how long ago. I'm starting to wonder if we need a pinned topic for this. I'm curious at to why there are several non-fans going through the effort of registering on the site to ask that question?

To answer the question: It amuses me. And I don't mean that in a flippant way, it really does amuse me. It reminds me a lot of Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack, which I also found amusing at the time. Not surprising as the people involved in this reboot of MLP were involved in those shows as well.

One of the things I'm fascinated by is worldbuilding. Mythology, fictional histories, fictional cultures, etc. And this version of MLP is *rife* with potential for that. The writers are borrowing liberally from lots of different sources, that mesh if very odd ways to produce something that sparks my creativity.

Plus, the community itself is quite good, and in an odd way that adds to the enjoyment of the show. There are rotten apples in the bushel, as there are in all fandoms, but this one currently has a relatively high percentage of good people in it.

I like the fact that it harks back to the old cartoons, loony toons and the like. Admittedly not all the time but fairly regularly and usually with Pinkie although the other characters get their moments.

It's also nice to watch a show that actually gives a moral message as well, I actually missed that about cartoons, and the characters are nicely rounded having flaws and strengths, something that's rare to find these days.

Admittedly it does regularly skirt along the edge of being cheesy, especially the first two episodes.

As for the fandom, the sheer level of creativity that seems to be pumped out is inspiring. Also the fact that this is the most tightknit and supportive fandom I've ever come across.

So it is, so it is. I think it is actually a media standard to have morals, even in mature programming. It provides development but just once I would like to see just a flat out conflict.

Its the celebration of an awesome show, the fandom is filled with such nice people, it brings the best out of people, has introduced me to awesome musicians, has inspired me to become a musician, has lead me to awesome conventions, and the fact that when im down, I can always depend on pinkiepie and rainbowdash to brighten my spirits. This show is much more than a show, and thats why I love it so much.

Live long and brony on

I've actually not seen many shows that do have a moral message, perhaps I've been unobservant. True they don't really do conflict at least not in the traditional sense, but then the original demographic probably wouldn't appreciate it. Funnily enough it's the comic books that have all the conflict etc, and a lot more references for older fans.

A few minutes ago someone *a non fan* as stated

"What is it about this show that you guys like so much?"

Or something along those lines.. and so I was in the middle of makeing my reply *as seen below* when the post was deleted. And so I didn't get my words out so I came here to continue cause I hate wasting a good train of thought

No worries, this show/fandom isnt for everyone and that's quite alright.

But now that you ask..

Some watch it for the story, others just watch it for the plot. But for me...its different... at least in my opinion. A lot of this is steamed from the fact that some people are tired of watching garbage pail humor and in a world, the real world, where we've become so afraid to turn on the TV because some moron couldn't handle life anymore..

It has become a beacon of inspiration in a world gone mad. An outlet that crys out saying "why can't our world be like this" A place where people reach out to one another and say "Welcome friend".

People are overwhelmed by the shere amount of hate and violence in this world that when someone shines a light, even if that light is a group of colorful little ponies, it gives people who gather around that light hope in friendship together.

This is where I ended it. But there's more...

Being that I live alone and family is far away. This forum, this community of online friends makes me feel that much less lonely

that to me is the true magic of friendship and it is the lesson I've learned from watching My Little Pony

@@Argumedies,

Hey there, that member's thread and post actually weren't deleted, they were just merged with an older thread that served essentially the same purpose. As your topic was related to sharing reasons for why you enjoy MLP and its Fandom, I have merged your thread with the same one as the other member's smile.png.

I like MLP because of the characters and how they act towards each other, their development. A lot of shows now are dumbed down and that leads to a loss of creativity. If only more shows today weren't dumbed down.

It probably goes without saying that I love the show, the characters and the plot. I like the fandom because it's full of nice, friendly people who all share a common interest so it's a great way to make new friends *squee*.

The general uncynical nature of the show—a trait that's difficult to find in any decent show. Don't get me wrong, I love shows like Breaking Bad and Dexter, but a break from cynicism can be quite nice at times. Watching an episode or two of MLP usually leaves me in a better mood, which can be pretty helpful when I'm stressing out about projects or exams or whathaveyou.
