Boat Loads of Moderators

Yes, because a staff of mods that would stab each other in the back sounds like such a wonderful idea.

Because those are the only two options?

All he's saying is that mods often agree with each other because they are both mods and want to prop each other up, for lack of a better phrase.

Now saying the moderators are unbiased is a difficult thing to confirm. I can tell you from personal experience and conversation, that when it comes to serious matters Feld0 is one of the most unbiased persons I have ever met. Same goes for Zoop. They all give careful looks to both sides of the arguments and try to understand them. The others I can't guarentee, since i haven't talked to them as much. But the super moderators I can say they wouldn't be there if they were biased. It's the very reason they have their discussions in the skype group , to avoid bias.

Well, i do believe personally sometimes old threads and posts should be delt with, but mostly just the wrong section. If a moderator is deleting a post from months ago it seems rather unnecessary to me and a way to almost get there "moderation points" up, but they arennt that stupid that they would let pride and arrogance lead their actions. Otherwise they never would have been picked would they?

Being partial to members who are more like you is in human nature. And as the mods have stated over and over again, they are just human.

It is unnecessary, but it's happening. THIS IS MY ISSUE. o.o

so I guess they are apparently that prideful and arrogant, and if you've read the thread (which I assume you have) a lot of members are wondering why certain members were chosen.

~

I feel this thread might be straying from it's original purpose and what some people want to see. We should be happy for these new moderators. It's a great honour and responsibility to be a moderator on such a large sight. I'm surprised as many actually became moderators as they did. If this is near equal who they originlaly had in mind that makes for nearly everyone considering how many there are. That means they are up to the task. I personally would likely deny it since i already have a busy schedule. Being a moderator on a site is hard work when you dedicate yourself, and to be willing to accept that, takes a lot of guts.

Good on all of you! And congratulations!

This is a forum open for discussion, we should be allowed to discuss.

And don't tell us how to feel, so of us love this community and don't want to see it die.

We have legitimate concerns we'd like to be addressed. ~

I can't believe I wasn't made a mod!

There are definite pros, and definite cons, as with any possible human action. So... I'd like to go to bed, night.

But you can understand why I would take that as unfair?

Yes, maybe my posts was a bit silly and got deleted.

But imagine my feelings when I see nearly the same post be other not get deleted.

It makes me feel like the mods are attacking me specifically.

If my posts were reported more, I an understand why more would get deleted.

But what if some member or mod has some personal issues with me, (or our personalities don't get along) and the report me and watch me, which results in my posts being deleted when a bunch of even sillier and off track posts stay.

Like I said before,

either keep them all, or delete them all.

~

Truth be told, I doubt the presence of additional moderators will garner much attention a week from now. Currently everpony is scrutinizing our movements, so there is bound to be more discussion about our activities.

Hard not to when all my notifications are mods deleting my posts.

There's a simple solution to this. There are obviously a lot of posts that we've been missing that you have seen. Why don't you report them to us instead of complaining that yours are getting deleted and others aren't, and assuming that this means someone takes pleasure to removing your content?

Consider this my formal report of 80% on the posts on the forums o.o ~

If posts, like the ones I got deleted, are considered 'not worthy' then I don't have all the time in the world to report every single one.

I'm not seeing why everybody is complaining about all the moderators being all high and mighty over everypony. I would just like to throw in that moderators respect the community in every way. Nothing has changed about me, I'm still the nicest person ever. Feld0 and the other Super Moderators just wanted some extra help because the forum has grown overtime. You can't expect just a few people control what's going on in every single category on here.

Now 18 moderators does seem a little too much to be brought on, but does that even matter? I think the moderators that were chosen know the rules well enough to not abuse their power. I believe we are just cleaning out the old stuff that didn't belong in certain places/deleting old topics that weren't getting many views. Giving a helping hand goes a long way. Jealously and hatred toward the new moderators isn't going to make it any easier for us on what we were assigned to do. Like I said before, we were asked to help a wonderful community from all over the globe to talk and discuss our love for ponies. Isn't that what MLP Forums was set up for?

Anyway I just want nobody to hate me for what I'm doing. I'm still Little Miss Fluttershy: An artist who loves drawing ponies and socializing with all the members on here. If you still hate me, I will only love and tolerate you more. I'm just lending a helping hand. <3

Then I hope you don't think that nine of us had all the time in the world to actively seek out and delete every single one of them. Most of us are either full-time students or active members of the workforce. So appointing ten new mods with the dedicated job of watching over specific areas of the site is a way to reduce our dependency on reports, because we appreciate that people would rather spend their time here posting rather than reporting. :)

What I want to know is how these new moderators were chosen. What was the criteria that needed to be met to be considered? I feel like there are a lot of members who were highly deserving of moderator positions that didn't even get a position offered to them. Honestly, I was very surprised at some of the people who were chosen versus some of the people who weren't chosen (Not that I am saying those who were chosen don't deserve it, I just feel like there were others that maybe deserved it a bit more). If you disagree, then that's fine, I'm just showing my thoughts here.

I don't think that they should be deleted in the first place.

If I'm being a catty bitch, by all means deleted my posts.

If I write something really 18+, please dispose of that trash.

If I comment one emoticon or a 'lol', banish it forever.

BUT

if I comment

"Canada or gtfo ;)" as a cute little joke on a thread about where 'you' live.

Don't be surprised when I become confused.

"It doesn't have enough substance." That's an opinion.

By that logic....

let's open a random thread: http://mlpforums.com/topic/21954-read-if-you-are-dwelling-on-a-past-relationship/

I guess the first two comments "Easier said than done." & "Lucidity eludes us all at times " don't have 'enough substance' either.

And this is my issue.

Not to mention I don't even know the other X number of posts I got delted said :/

Can I ask, are we done here yet?

Considering some of us still have concerns and questions, no.

But no one is forcing you to keep coming and checking this thread o.o .

It's just that this was a sudden, overwhelmingly major addition to the site so of course it was bound to rustle some jimmies.

Jimmies shall be rustled.

Call me a little work-shy here, but I'm not going to attempt to justify any of the concerns brought up in this thread just yet. Most (if not all) of the factors that people have brought to the table - from concerns regarding complete and utter overkill to moderator bias - are completely understandable, and to toss them aside would be a half-baked decision to say the least. However, to act solely on conjectures wouldn't be the best move in the world either. While I can't speak for the other moderators or administrators, throughout the next week or so, I'll be working with the new mods to make sure they delete content only when necessary, ask the rest of the team when they find themselves uncertain as to whether content should be removed or locked, and ensure that they don't go around deleting posts out of context, consequently causing another jimmy rustling session like we've seen today.

Personally, I find posts such as these to be perfectly fine, and I can completely agree that small light-hearted posts are fine to stay. It's only posts that contribute absolutely nothing to a given conversation that I give the flick, such as your stock standard "lol", "this" or "tl;dr". Admittedly, the line between content that's considered acceptable, and content that's deemed out of context tends to become a little grey as the number of individuals moderating the forums increases. Conversely however, now that we have focused team available to compare and contrast their opinions on content, we can aim to have collective decisions made about what stays and goes, as opposed to relying on a single individuals discretion, which more often than not leads to some rather thorny difference of opinions.

Everything considered, it's still early days. Just like our first batch of moderators, please be so kind as to give us a few days to a week to get everyone settled, on the same page and working with each other, and if we're still having major issues, we'll work openly from there.

After reading all 7 pages and seeing both sides of the argument, I think a lot of the problems are linked to everypony's fear that the forum could fall apart. I've never been on a forum like this before, where it's members work together to help each other. Where everypony is accepted regardless of the past lives or current situations. What it seems like is everypony is just afraid of change. Well, this a major human trait (or flaw) we all hate change because it means we are forced to do something different and there is a huge possibility that the forum will evolve. What we need to do is step back, look at the situation and try to gain a better understanding instead of making rash decisions and comments.

This topic has created a massive divide one that has caused a tremendous amount of anger to erupt and unless we can address this, it will spread and the forum will collapse. There is one thing that is certain, this forum is changing regardless if we like it or not. What we can do is work together to try and preserve this wonderful community. I would hate to see this community fall apart because we were so afraid of change. Please stop fighting, please try to understand that this forum is evolving and we need to work together! We have forgotten what MLP has taught us: Friendship and acceptance. We have forgotten why we are here.

Friendship.

That is the end of my comment. I hope we can find a way to continue, because I truly love this community, it has helped me come out of my shell and communicate with other people.

Umm.. I don't know what thread you're reading, but no one is ANGRY.

We can have a different viewpoint and not be angry, Y'know...

And so, the Feldian life-form, codename: Swoop, came down from atop high, and with the wave of his hand, understanding fell upon everypony. Jimmies, once rustled and running rampant, were now appeased. Even the god himself clapped in approval for his companion's success, as the subjects smiled upon he.

NOW can the topic end? </3

it might be because I read everything (my eyes really hurt and I'm a little dizzy so that might have impacted it too) and it just seemed like there was this real big frustration going on. Maybe I got it wrong, but all I'm saying is just want to see this forum continue being amazing.
