Maybe the Darksteel Ingot should be in the artifact bit. On a side note you really need a Command Tower in this deck. It is by far the best "tap for any colour" land in the format.

They'd never ban it. Yeah, it's amazing, but it's mainly there for all the people who play EDH casually and don't want to (or can't) drop tons of money on dual lands. Same reason Sol Ring was and Lightning Greaves were in the Commander Precons: accessibility.

 

Not to mention, if they did, it would be banned in the only format it has any use in XD

Although, it IS legal in Legacy and Vintage, so you can combo it with Urborg to tap for B

 

 

Also, any of you been keeping up with the RTR spoilers?

 

Because after all this time of bad Rakdos cards being shown... Shit just got real

Oh My Celestia! I just saw this thread and I was like AHHH! Magic the Gathering! Teehee so glad I just found this! My fave deck would probably be my Vampire deck (not but nearly type two) but I often play with my red/green werewolves or my white soldier deck. But my vamp deck just triumphs! Its even great in two headed giant or 1on1on1on1 or what ever. But magic AND ponies! Just made my day!(twelve minutes into it lol)

The new Rakdos is very cool, looks like BR zombies will be sticking around for a while. Man that's gonna get annoying, i ahte playing against the deck so much, i might need to nvest in more Thragtusks, oh and it is a sad day, the friday of the Pre release will be the last time i play my standard deck, birthding pod, it will be a sad day for all.

I'm actually quite well off when it comes to shocklands. I have a playset of Steam Vents, Sacred Foundry's and Godless Shrines. Still I will now need some Blood Crypts (That new Rakdos is too tempting).

Oh man, Rakdos (the guild and the card) is going to fuck up all kinds of limited. Not very good in constructed (well, Rakdos himself isn't bad), but there's just too much power and damage in Rakdos for it not to be a great limited Guild. Azorius, as well, detain is going to be nuts.

I have one of each, all signed :3, i met rob alexander and i commisioned a play mat off him. But i got mine before modern was a format because we ahve a 60 card singleton format which is very popular here. Like commander, but much cooler.

So I see people have been posting their favorite strategies and cards, so here's some that I like to use:

Meet Stuffy Doll. Stuffy Doll is indestructible. Stuffy Doll will take any damage you do to him and throw it back at you. In short, Stuffy Doll will fuck ur day up. Now, Stuffy Doll only has a couple of weaknesses.

 

1: There are unblockable cards that can bypass Stuffy Doll, such as 'lightning bolt'.

2: Stuffy Doll does not have flying, and thus cannot block other flying creatures.

 

Now, all we have to do is make sure that all of the damage the opponent throws at you is directed at Stuffy, and make it hard as hell to get rid of him. There are several ways to do this.

 

First, let's get rid of our flying problem. The easiest way to do this is to either stuff your deck with flying creatures (which is also good from an offensive perspective) or stuff it with:

Crushing Vines. Take out their fliers before they can even attack you. Sounds great, right? Well there's one problem. Crushing Vines doesn't kill Lightning Bolts. Although it is a good card to have, there's an even better way to go about things.

Meet Pariah. Pariah is an Enchantment card. Pariah goes VERY well with Stuffy Doll. If you equip Pariah to Stuffy Doll, all of the things that can get past Stuffy still deal damage to Stuffy (because they attack you directly), and thus your opponent. It is a truly diabolical way of playing the game.

 

Other cards that do well with these two are any which can:

 

give temporary invulnerability (Stuffy Doll is already invincible, but Pariah isn't, so if there's a 'destroy enchantment' card in your opponent's deck, be prepared)

 

shield you from death (a good example would be Platinum Angel. It's always good to have a backup plan in case Stuffy fails)

 

resurrect cards from your graveyard (if Stuffy Doll somehow dies by, idk, infest (one of the only things that can kill an indestructible creature) then it's always a good thing to be able to get him back)

 

Strong flying creatures (defense doesn't mean much if you can't kill the other guy. Flying creatures are a good, quick way to do that)

 

Cards that give you life (Nothing is more annoying than seeing your opponent rack up life left and right and not being able to do anything about it. Whoever you're facing will be absolutely livid, and even if he does manage to kill Stuffy, he'll have a lot of work to do trying to finish you off.)

 

Oh, and poison counters. Poison counters are always nice.

 

 

And that, my friends, is how to unbelievably troll at Magic the gathering.

I’d like to run the deck around Rhox Faithmender and maybe the Chalice of Life. Could use some suggestions. I need a lot of cards to get to put it together and I want it to be standard so I can play it at FNM.

Yes, both black-white and mono white work well for a life gain deck. Another good color to have is green, it has a lot of weapons, creatures, ect. that give you life when they die (a good example would be Sylvok Lifestaff). Although if you want something really good for infinite life gaining, a black-white would be great. Y'see, since black has a lot of cards that return things from your graveyard to your hand, you could just keep playing a good life gain card over and over again until you've accumulated some serious life. If you do go with the black-white, I recommend 'diabolic tutor', 'disentomb', and 'child of night'. As for white cards, angels and any type of blocking creature are good. Soooo... yeah Some good combos are black white, green-white, and maybe even black-white-green if you're feeling adventurous.
