Fluttershy Desktop Clock

Chevette

Recommended Posts

Hello once again folks, today I have something special to address your attention to!

Nearly five months ago I made a Rainbow Dash desktop gadget clock and for some odd reason I decided to whip up another on but this time, I made the clock based on Fluttershy!

The image was originally a vector I found on Google but I had to fix it up so it worked with the project, I re-made it so it didn't look as choppy when I sized it up.

So all you Fluttershy fans out there will probably enjoy this here clock! The actual clock itself is 5500 x 5500 pixels, so it was a bit difficult to work with but it turned out quite nice, at least I think so. The arms are a bit out of sync but it's very difficult to keep them inline considering they aren't just sticks like the default ones!

To show you a better and more detailed look at the clock, I have my display image for you to see:

Well folks, tell me what you think!

Oh man that is sick. I want that on my computer. That is some talented clock making skills right there :lol:. and anything with Fluttershy on it is almost automatically awesome in my opinion.

Thank you! :)

Installing this is actually simple yet hard. If you are up for the challenge of "installing" this on your computer then I'll explain to a extent on what you have to do.

Start/Computer/Local Disk C:/Program Files/Windows Sidebar/Gadgets/Clock.Gadget/

Inside the "Clock.Gadget folder there are two file folders (en-US) and (images). Considering the easiest way to send this clock to people was just to legit copy my folders and tell others to basically replace these folders with mine. But it's much easier said than done, you have to make these folders owned by you to edit them (delete/replace them) so if you right click on them you'll see properties and inside there is security, you basically have to make your user have control of the folders and the content of the folders.

You must replace both the "en-US" folder and the "images" folder or the clock will not function correctly at all considering I had to edit the .txt files to make the pony arms work properly.

I didn't really want to give people a download link considering most wouldn't know what to do with the files, it's really a tedious effort to gain user control of the folders but it eventually works. There is something else called "godmode" for windows seven but I don't know much about it other than it is easy to use.

So, if you'd like to try to get this clock on your computer, do so at your own risk, I don't want to be at fault for anyone screwing up their computer (which is not likely, but you never know what people will do and throw at the creator's face).

Here's the download consisting of both of my custom clocks, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy (as always I reccommend that you save copies of the original folders somewhere on your computer just in case you want to revert back to them for whatever reason)

Located in this download are the "en-US" and the "image" folders which include the working clocks when added to the Clock.Gadget folder I mentioned earlier.

Download:

http://www.mediafire.com/?q9xp6zumcg17tkj

If you have any questions, I can ATTEMPT to answer them but in reality the whole process is trial and error with the main goal being: getting your user in control of the content and the "en-US" & "image" folders themselves so you can replace the content with the edited content.

Good luck! :)

It took forever and a half to figure out how to get it to work, but it was well worth it. Nice clock design! I like how Fluttershy is facing forward, so that the positions of the clock hands are never too unnatural looking.

I have one problem, though; my computer keeps moving the clock hands slightly up, so that they center somewhere on her face. Is there any way to fix this?

In any case, thanks for the download! It's much appreciated. :)

I'm glad you got the clock applied to your desktop gadget clock! It is quite the challenge, I was pondered on my first attempt to make this work correctly.

In the .ZIP file your downloaded there were two separate files, the "en-US" folder and the "images" folder. Inside the "en_US" folder is the locations for where the hands center around. My first question is, did you apply the "en_US" file to your computer? If so, I'm a bit pondered on why your clock arms are drastically out of place considering I modified the location point of the arms myself for best location.

I know for certain that the clock arms are a bit off on some points but most of the time it's pretty right on, if you did apply the "en_US" file to your computer it should be fairly in ballpark range of the best locations for the arms. Since the arms aren't sticks like the default clocks, they were a bit harder to fondle.

Reply when you can, i'll be happy to give as much assistance as I can to the matter.

I love it! Fluttershy is brilliant and adorable! Those art skills, flutter and a clock combined! If only I had my own desktop...i mean I have a family one, but it's not like I can put that on there. Ahh well, still amazing!

I put the "en_US" folder in the right location, if that's what you're asking. I'm not sure if that's what you meant by apply, though. I don't know how much this will help, but I'll walk you through everything I did.

I got rid of the previous "en_US" and "images" folders, then copied and pasted the folders I got from your download. If it means anything, the downloaded folders now have two locations: inside the original zip folder that I downloaded into a folder in my pictures library; and in the "clock.gadget" folder. I looked in the "en_US" folder and looked at both "css" and "js". I didn't try opening the files in "js" (java script items entitled "clock", "settings", and "time zones"), since I got a pop-up asking if I really wanted to and I generally have no idea what I'm doing. The "css" folder, though, contained two notepad documents, both with the message "this code is not approved for use in/on any other UI element or product component". The "clock" notepad file also says "body { width: 130px; height: 130px; margin: 0px; }" and the "settings" file also says "body { width: 278px; height: 355px; font-family: 'segoe UI', Tahoma, Sans-serif; margin: 0px; } #settingsButtonTable {font-size: 12px; } #CurrentIndex { width: 15px; text-align: center; } #maxIndex {width: 15px; text-align: center; } a { color:#0066cc; text-decoration: none; } a: hover { color:#3399ff; text-decoration: underline; }". In "en_US" there were also three other items, two that have the google chrome logo for an icon and are entitled "clock" and "settings" and a third with an icon that looks like a piece of paper with a world in a set of < >'s entitled "gadget". The "clock" icon opens a blank chrome page, "settings" opens a chrome page with an image of the clock settings command box except the arrows for scrolling through clock appearances are broken jpegs, and "gadget" opens up an internet explorer page with the following text:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

-<gadget> <name>Clock</name> -<namespace>

<!--_locComment_text="{Locked}"-->

microsoft.windows</namespace> -<version>

<!--_locComment_text="{Locked}"-->

1.0.0.0</version> -<author name="Microsoft Corporation"> <info text="www.gallery.microsoft.com" url="http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=124093"/> <logo src="logo.png"/> </author> -<copyright>

<!--_locComment_text="{Locked}"-->

<!--_locComment_text="{Locked}"-->

true</autoscaleDPI> <base src="clock.html" apiVersion="1.0.0" type="html"/> -<permissions>

<!--_locComment_text="{Locked}"-->

full</permissions> <platform minPlatformVersion="1.0"/> <defaultImage src="drag.png"/> </host> </hosts> </gadget>

This isn't really how the text is oriented, though. If it would be more helpful to see how it's indented and such, I have a screen-shot I can post. I know that posting all that script makes this post really long, and maybe unnecessarily so, but I thought I'd write it anyway so you can see if anything got slightly changed somehow. Also, as I said before, I have a general idea of how programming works, but I still have no idea what I'm doing most of the time. I'd rather have an exhaustive description and not need it, over possibly leaving something out.

I hope this helps to point out the problem. If you need more information, though, I'll gladly share it.

The only way to describe my feels for this clock is eight words formed in two very short sentences.

Oh My Bucking God. All of my yes.

Thank you! :)

Ok, sorry if I just missed it in here but the only thing that I seem to be having trouble with is granting myself permission. I went into security to grant myself permission and it said I already had permission but when I tried to copy into the folder it still said I need permission to do that. Can you help me out here? A Fluttershy clock would be an awesome addition to my cursor and calendar

You know, I was planning on downgrading to Windows XP just so I could play my favourite games because they didn't run on Windows 7.

After seeing this post? Not anymore.

To answer your problem, you can play in XP mode, just saying. Anyways, fantastic clock and I would totally put this on any computer I have.

Not all games and applications will work this way. I think a better solution would be to either dual boot win7 and xp, or make a virtual xp if gaming is all he needs it for.

Also, the clock seems very simple and i think it could be redone in C# easily for everyone on xp. I might give it a try, considering i have nothing better to do anyway.

I just downloaded this and it is working fantastically. Sure, I had to fight my way though all of the security junk and stuff, but it was worth it.

The Fluttershy clock is the greatest thing indeed, Fluttershy is my favorite out of the main six because she is too damn cute.
