Why is Scootaloo so popular?

Apple Bloom is my favorite of the CMC, but I still like Scoots. Her element of "disconnectedness" in that she isn't related to any major pony is interesting since she hangs out with two who are. One can't help but wonder what her origins are.

I'm not so sure if they would make her crippled in the show... Think about it... It's kind of dark to have a crippled young girl/filly in a children's show...

But I don't think it's really that far-fetched. Look at Nemo. That was a kids' movie, and he was a kid with a handicap. He had one fin that was smaller and weaker than the other. I know it's happened in other shows, too. It's often a great way for a show to tell kids that no matter what, they should always try - never give up. I think it would be a great thing for a kid's show, honestly.

I don't much care for Scootaloo my favorite cutie mark crusader is Sweetie Belle. Applebloom comes in second and then it is Scootaloo last. But that is just my opinion.

I can say the same for Applebloom. She really doesn't have a huge amount of special things for her. I mean, she can build. The reason that you would think she is like the background pony of the CMC is because she doesn't have a sister (as far as we know) and therefore hasn't had an episode yet, like the two other CMC's who have sisters, who are the Mane 6. And really, how can you say she has no character? She is spontaneous, energetic, and pretty brave. I'm not saying AB is a bad character, I'm just using her for my argument because you mentioned her.

 

 

People say she is a chicken because, in the show, AB called her one in The Stare Master. Also, she is basically a flightless bird if you think about it.

Well, they call her a chicken because of the fact that Applebloom called her a chicken in Stare Master, so the fanbase worked off of that.

sad she lost her sister (Cheerilee, and unnamed mother) but she gained wings (that she can't use).

In the episode where they sleep over Fluttershy's house, Apple Bloom calls her a chicken. The part where they're in the Everfree Forest trying to find the chicken and Apple Bloom makes fun of her for being scared and calls her a chicken. Those 3-4 lines have made Scootaloo the laughingstock of the fanbase :/

Chickens can't fly the way a bird such as a sparrow can. Scootaloo can handle flapping and doing a bit of gliding, much like a chicken. Penguins can't fly at all.

 

And that was honestly very rude and unnecessary. You can't just go ahead and say the creators of the show don't like a character because she lacks background at the moment.

Well, different jokes are different on a scale of humor for each person. I found it quite clever when I first saw the joke, but some others might not.

Also, that last part about them not liking Scootaloo I'm guessing probably isn't true, since you know, there was a Scootaloo in the previous generation, and if they didn't like a character, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't bring them along as one of the few returning characters.

Just because you don't like a show/character, doesn't mean you have to question everyone else's liking of it. It's okay. I understand. I don't think anyone is expecting you to suddenly like Scootaloo, but I do believe they expect you to act with civility, and you were borderline to not doing so. But that's all said and done now and you've apologized, so I'm going to move on from that, and I hope everyone else does, too.

I'm most certainly not offended, just kind of in a heated mood right now. These people who don't understand why we like Scootaloo sound like those other people who don't understand why we like a so called "show for little girls," and it's kind of pissing me off.

Nobody is saying your opinion is wrong, and yes, your opinion is similar to the OP's. However, you must not know much about a character if you say she doesn't have a character, because that isn't much of an opinion.

Okay, I'm afraid this may turn into something it doesn't need to be.

 

Scarfy, what Scootabloom is trying to say is that there's a difference between saying "I'm not fond of Scootaloo" and "I don't understand why anyone likes Scootaloo." The first is opinion, the second one can be a form of an "attack;" in other words, it's rude. That's like me saying "I don't understand why you like your favourite band, because they're boring and this that and this." Wouldn't you tell me that we just have different opinions?

 

And Scootabloom, I think if Scarfy keeps up with this, it may be best to ignore them. Not saying that they will, but to avoid getting in a more heated mood, if they do, I would just let it go for now and come back later, so this doesn't explode. . .

I'm not sure if it's just me, honestly, but I like the type of gutsy personalities these girls have and the way they show them off. Oh, and a $20 bill says when Scootaloo learns to fly, she's a daredevil like RD.

A lot of the same reasons Dash is popular, her personality is very similar. Plus she's adorable on her scooter. Eh, I just think the fandom took her character and ran with it more so than the other two Crusaders, largely because we know the least about her.

I prefer Sweetie Belle more, but I guess it's because she's viewed as a similar character to Raibow Dash. It also may be due to the fact that we don't have as much background information on her as the other CMC members, and therefore a mystery surrounds her character.
