While only being at the beginning, he does play a role in shaping the events of the story they way they do. He ends up killing Spike, pushing Twilight over the edge and having her use the Elements while enraged, killing Discord and corrupting the Elements at the same time. Though he himself is stuck in stone, there could be somepony on the outside preparing to release him so he can carry his plan beyond the borders of Ponyville. Too, beside the surprise at the elemental jewels shooting things, under these circumstances he could have been putting them on a bit. Being sealed for a time is a small price to pay for spreading chaos, so he went through the motions and convinced the mane 6 he was ultimately defeated. This is supposed to be the mastermind villain anyway, so it seems like a natural setup for him. As for when he'll be released, I think we're quite a ways off from that. Espionage 113 January 16, 2012 Share January 16, 2012 I want to see an extension to both Discord and Luna's backstories. Perhaps for the Season 3 premiere or the Season 2 finale? Really, considering I love to see the political aspect of such things like Nightmare Moon and Discord, I'd love to see the touch of their legacy. Something like the rebel Lunar Guards who were also imprisoned would be GREAT to see. But best of all: A Discord Cult or the remains of the Discord Cult would be great to see as well.
