Pony Accomplishments

Don't TL;DR this cause then the title wouldn't make as much sense

I was playing a song on my violin, a rather moody one. After I was done, my violin teacher said to me: "real professional violinists think of a story when they play the song." He told me to think of a malancholy situation while I play the song, since there wasn't enough feeling to it.

The night after that I practiced the song again. I remembered my teacher's advice. As I played, I imagined a funeral, the corpse surounded by a crowd of friends and family members. I found that picturing a real funeral wasn't easy, my mind morphed into other thoughts easily. Something sad... The first situation that came up in my mind was still a funeral. I then thought: How about a cartoon funeral? So I imagined another dead guy with his sad friends and family next to him, but that was hard to imagine too, especially while playing the violin. I thought some more, and naturally, the thought hit me: cartoon=poniez

I like thinking about ponies whenever I can (who doesn't?). So thats what I used. Now I needed to find an old pony. Easy. Granny Smith. I imagined Granny Smith on her death bed. (OMG *sniff this is more depressing than a real funeral! :( ) To my surprise, visualizing MLP was so much easier than the other things I had tried. Then I had another idea: I am Big Macintosh playing the violin in Granny Smith's funeral, with LOTS of other ponies watching, so I better play good. I thought of this situation everytime I practiced that song. I felt that the piece, with a sad storyline envolved, was more moving and sounded much better than I used to play it.

When my violin teacher came today, I played the song once more. He was VERY impressed. In fact, I was so damn good (I generally don't brag but I must now) that he said: "Out of the 7-8 years I have taught you, this lesson is my favorite lesson. You have never played so well before." I had emotionally moved an old man (my violin teacher is 80 yrs old) with my playing, for the first time, and I was quite proud.

MLP had always been more of a distraction, a hobby that gets me sidetracked. However, this time it helped me achieve something I could never do before: play the violin with emotion. It worked like magic.

Has MLP helped anypony with achievements throughout their life? It certainly has for me.

*On side note big thanks to Granny Smith for dying so many times in my mind lol

MLP was what inspired me to begin to draw. I've always wanted to pick up arting and begin drawing. I've never been able to actually do so before I decided to focus my attention on MLP arting. The characters are simple of design but again they are not. MLP was simply the spark I needed to begin drawing.

tl;dr ;)

but I got the jist of it :P

mlp doesn't help my accomplish anything,

but it has provided some sort of meaning in my life and lead me to this wonderful and loving community that makes me very happy (: ~

which I suppose is some sort of accomplishment in itself (:

Although its not helped me with any achivements quite as skillfull as yours, it has helped me to be a much less angry/sad person. Ive got a picture on my Ipod of the mane 6 and whenever i feel angry or sad i only have to look towards that for it to bring a grin to my face.

Its truely worked for every scenario ive been in so far :)

It hasn't changed me too much, but I'm working harder in my college work, and it brought back some nice memories, especially from my middle school years.

For example, when I was in High School, I was an intern at a huge company working in the IT Dept. I was told that in order to get a permanent position, I'd need an Associate's Degree. I've been raised believing in street smarts, where school can only teach you so much. In the episode Fall Weather Friends Twilight comes fifth in the race, in front of Applejack and R.D, though only having read about racing. I think this has helped me understand that street smarts are just as great as book smarts, and I'm working harder. Soon enough, I'll have my degree.

MLP has gotten me to get back to writing... (scratching head)... and with communities like this, it's made me feel a little less isolated (being a Black metal head in a religious family in a neighbourhood where you look like a freak and labeled a emo fag).

Well Ponies helps me a bit with depression problems, keeps me entertained with the show it's self, images, official and fan music!

Ponies has made me a nicer and happier person! I'm still the same lazy slacker genius that might be too critical for my own good!

Glad to hear MLP has really helped your talent! I haven't really tried too hard seeing if it will help me with mine!

As far as being a critic goes, being filled with love and tolerance has made me... a bit soft. Being soft is a terrible thing for a critic.

As far as being a writer I've written out a vast and beautiful story in my head that I have been (ever so slowly) making into a comic. To save time I might just write it as a fan fic though. One thing I'd like to try is to make a Classic RPG type game with the concept... if I only had to know how :P

I start Creative Writing II at my school next semester (in a month actually) so I'll see if my non-pony writing has improved at all!

Ponies helped to make my outlines smoother in Photoshop. This is something I had trouble with since I had not really been able to get the hang of my tablet back when it was new in December 2010. Not only that, but it helped me figure out my digital style since I had been a traditional artist who just could not figure out how to use Photoshop. Still don't know about the more complexities of it, but I'd say I can use it well enough. Thanks to ponies, I accomplished a lot artistically!

Oh and they also helped me in simplifying the designs of my characters/concepts/symbols. (since I do invent a lot of cutie mark like symbols and have been since I was young)

I've been plotting a story off and on for many years, and I'm reevaluating the characters as I've grown older and have gained a better understanding of what makes people tick.

I'd been having trouble with characterizing one female character in particular. I had no idea how I was going to portray her in a consistent manner.

Then, while thinking about my story and looking at my MLP calendar with a picture of Rarity on it, I decided that I would base the majority of this character off Rarity herself. It was an Hallelujah Chorus moment.
