The Difference Between MLP Forums And Other Websites

Well, I only have ever gone on two websites mostly for their 'clubs' or their 'boards' (as they call them) so here goes nothing!  I'll just call them 'boards' and 'clubs'.  If you can guess what website they are you win a prize wink.png

Boards:

  • Most of them think their better then everyone else because 'their in college'.  This website was originally for 'college students'. Blah blah blah.
  • You have to sit there for hours and hours to roleplay.  You can't leave and come back later.
  • You get reported for the silliest things
  • When you get reported, the website doesn't bother to check if you did anything wrong.  They just send you a warning.
  • Its so inactive it hurts.

Clubs:

  • Most of them are just jerks xD
  • They keep breaking the rules and them if they get deleted, complain about it even though its their fault.
  • Talk about things that they shouldn't talk about
  • Get mad at every single thing and attack every single person.
  • Most of them don't like other peoples opinions.  Its their opinion or nothing.
  • They hate on people who are being nice and doing nothing wrong.

Yeah, so this is my opinion of these forums xD MLP Forums is the opposite of them.  Thats why I love you.

For a while, I was apart of 'clubs'.  Now I'm just ashamed to have been. sad.png

Whatever.

I'm not completely sure what "clubs" and "boards" are, but yeah, MLP Forums is probably the greatest website I've ever been on. This is the first online community/forums I have ever been a part of and I really love these forums a lot. I've made several friends on here and I love posting on here, it's so addicting!!!

I've been on a few in my time but this place and this community is something special. I've never come across another like it, the closest group like this that I can think of is the Firefly ones and even those really don't come close.

The only forum I've ever been on besides this is ThemeParkReview.  That one really has some problems, if anyone disagrees with an opinion, you basically are thrown aside, so that's why I was pretty skeptical about joining this one, but I'm glad I did, because this site is easily the best site I've ever been on.

I'm on Personality Cafe, which is actually the best online typological community I've seen. It's not worse than this forum. It's just... different.

There's good forums out there, you just have to look! I've been on plenty, and most of them were bad. However, I've really stuck around for the two ones I like.

Considering the only other sites I go on are Youtube and FiMFiction, their is definitely a reason I keep coming back to this site. That reason changes day to day but it always revolves around the activity of these forums. It is always buzzing with some active members like Comrade-Dimitri-Hammer, Pinkazoid!, CrazyClay, Ds8, Count Paradox, Arcanel, and Ethan Pow. Their is a pretty good reason I remember all of these users.

The mind of the host will desperately try to create memories where none exist. Simple right?

Let me think... wink.png

*On MLP, the veteran members are courteous and welcoming, instead of constantly pining for the "good old days" of the board and resenting every new member who joins.

*On MLP, the General Discussion threads don't turn into inflammatory debates about (pick one) religion, abortion, race, Nazis or homosexuality.

*On MLP, people know how to type.

*On MLP, people can look to each other for personal advice without being cruelly mocked.

*On soviet MLP, you are not part of board. Board is part of you.

I've been to other places, and honestly the only glaring difference between this forum and other forums is that this site actually tries to organize itself. When other sites say, "eh, this is good enough," this site instead says, "holy barnacles clean that place now! Everything must be squeaky clean!"

Sometimes it's hilarious to see the staffs went on a rampage to undo something.

Props for the FrodoFeld0 and Scootie for that

MLP Forums is the second forum I've participated a lot in. I am also moderator on a forum called Zoo Tycoon Volcano which is a forum owned by my friend and he wanted help running it so I hoped on board with him, that would be the first. (It was one of the biggest ZT forums out there). But I am also a registered member on forums like PonyCentral, dAforums, LvMI Forums, etc. But MLP Forums is the best forum I've been on so far.

I love this place. Before I came here, I was on another forum that was probably 1/4 the size of this. But after a little misunderstanding with the Mods, I got instabanned. (Don't ask.)

Luckily, I found this place. And I decided to stay.

Difference between MLP Forums and other websites

- other websites don't have the awesome presence of Doctor XFizzle

except GameFAQs boards, because I've been there since 2004 when I really became a full-time, daily internet user. I was a major part of the social board for WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain for Playstation 1, but then branched out to the sports boards and the Pro Wrestling Board (PWB).

But yeah, this place rocks because there's more of a sense of community because of MLP:FiM. We're friends here through a common bond (ponies) compared to people just coming and going with no real staying presence.

I've said some of this in my blog entry from yesterday.   This is my first MLP forum i've been a part of so I really can't speak for the rest. but the one big difference I noticed is that there is a real sense of 'community' here.  A place where we can lean on each other  and everypony  feels a sense of security here.  More importantly a place where no pony  is ostracized based on their likes and dislikes..  And based on my last experience the mods here are really amazing ponies.

The last large board I was at,  the mods  made life miserable for a group of people. We were ostracized and mocked by the entire board. based on  our shipping preference.  (if anypony understands bleach i'll say "IchiXRuki vs IchiHime"  and say no more) This was long before the mods became power hungry and banished us back to our Fanclub where they decided to start deleating our comments and banning people who were asking why they were doing this.  it was really a general sense of 'you'll take what we say and like it'
