gaming 9 Questions for the people who play multiplayer games and MMOs

Brook

Recommended Posts

I have some questions to people who like the following types of games:

-FPS games that have a big focus on multiplayer (a.k.a. every single FPS since 2007)

-MMOs, MMORPGs, MMOTCGs (trading card games), MMORGs (racing games), you know the kind.

And anything with multiplayer really, these are just for reference.

*Say what kind of game you like out of the above or similar that you play and answer:

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?

4. When did you start with these types of games?

5. Do you consider yourself a good player?

6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?

7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?

8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?

9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

I play World of Warcraft for having fun.
Yea I try to make others have fun. Being a tank
I played WoW for 5 years
I started these type of games about 5 years ago.
I do think I am a good player. I like to help people, but also I am getting top ranks in Battlegrounds
... I felt addicted to the game, I quit it for about half a year and then came back.
I don't want to switch the game, infact, I can't play games like Warcraft of LoL because it's very different.
Nothing historical =P
Yea, I am happy.

Why I like WoW is because of online people meeting, beautiful places, interesting story lines, and all sort of other things

- I play TF2, of course because of fun (and sure I don´t wanna fail miserably, but meh)

- my favourite class is the medic, and I enjoy teamwork, so, yea

- for a few months now, recently, when friends are online to play with

- I started playing games when I was 16, I played need for speed world ( ._.) for like 2 years, I started playing TF2 when I found out there was a MLP-forums server

- controlled, nah, every game gets a bit boring with time, as I quit NFS I gave away my account to a good friend

- I don´t wanna switch, I will probably, but not at the moment

- *derp*

- when I play with friends I am happy, playing "alone" is kinda boring

1. Both. I have fun being the best.

2. I play BF3, so I do my best to be a team player.

3. 2 years and 3 months.

4. I would say around 2-3 years ago.

5.Yes.

6. Again, yes '-'

7. Well I'm always open to playing all different types of games, but I haven't switched yet because I don't like any of the 2012 games

8. (1) I sniped someone from over a mile away on bf3 while he was moving. (2) One day I was just mad and tired from a long day, and got over 200 kills in one BF3 match.....on console.

9. For the 3rd, and last time, Yes.

Any event or continuous something that happened in your entire history of gaming?
Ah, I see. Fixed. Edited by Retro✮Derpy

I play mostly fighting games but I do play fps occasionally. No mmos; tried it but just couldn't get into them.

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?

Mostly for fun, though sometimes quite fun to be the best because you get to trash talk all the time :P . It gets old though; it sounds kinda big-headed but I like to lose to people I used to always beat. That "oh, you've gotten better" feel ignites my competitive spirit.

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

I often find myself playing the medic role in games for some reason. Even in games like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, I'm the person who always ends up with cure and life and carrying the chalice. It seems like the job no one else ever wants to do even though it's important.

3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?

Well I've played every Blazblue that's been localized so far and they're all pretty similar, so maybe 5ish years of Blazblue playing. More around 2ish if you consider just the latest installment I guess.

4. When did you start with these types of games?

I remember playing a Mortal Kombat game in my childhood. It was probably Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

5. Do you consider yourself a good player?

I consider myself strictly average.

6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?

Nope.

7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?

Not really.

8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?

I remember how I used to cry that my brother wouldn't let me win in Mortal Kombat and then my dad would tell him to let me win. Ah, good times. Now, my brother can't beat me at any game I play regularly and he can only blame himself. I swore never to lose again since those days.

9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

Only if I'm playing with someone else. The fun is doubled if we are playing locally.

I'm mostly a single player guy, but I'll play CoD on occasion.

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?

Fun.

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

Nope. Quite the opposite really. I play in a way which is fun for me, but makes some people angry (not like a troll though).

3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?

Strictly in multiplayer, 2 years, but I've played the campaigns of ever CoD since its inception.

4. When did you start with these types of games?

I've played FPS games since I was a kid, but I've only begun multiplayer in recent years.

5. Do you consider yourself a good player?

So much so, that I play with a handicap. I only knife. I'm no CoD God or anything, but I'm pretty good.  B)

6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?

No

7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?

I kind of want to get into TF2 more, but my computer isn't good enough to really handle it.

8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?

I have lots of cool tomahawk moments in Black Ops, I guess. There was this one moment when I ran straight into a big fight yelling, "Leeeroy Jeenkins!" and my brother burst out laughing.

9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

No, I've grown bored with it and I've pretty much quit. I really need a new game

Mostly FPS'. Especially Halo.

1. I play for fun. When I was younger, it use to be more about being the best.

2. In Halo I generally sit back and try to pick people off with a rifle. In Battlefield, I generally am the healer.

3. Halo in general I've been playing for 11 years, since the first. Halo 4 I've been playing since its was released 2 1/2 months ago.

4. Oh boy, I would say FPS' in general since Doom in the early-mid 90's. As far as multiplayer FPS' go, since about 1997 or 1998 with Goldeneye on the 64.

5. I consider myself a good player, though I have those nights where things just don't work out.

6. I would say when I was younger, I felt a bit controlled. Not anymore.

7. Not until the next big multiplayer game comes out. At first it was Halo, then CoD would come out, so I would switch to that, Gears of War would come out and I would switch to that. I probably will stop playing halo for bit when Gears of Wars Judgement comes out. I kind of lost interest in CoD.

8. I remember all the fun times me and my brother had duking it out in Goldeneye, then Perfect Dark. Then Halo with his friends, and eventually we got set up with Xbox Connect. That allowed us to play the first Halo over the internet, before Xbox Live. Boy that was some good times.

9. Of course, otherwise I wouldn't play it. Why play a game that doesn't make you happy?

Like, don't underestimate my power man.

I suppose I play a few games WITH multiplayer, but not necessarily entirely multiplayer games. I suppose I'll answer according to the one MMO I've ever played, ragnarok online. I had my own server on it but it didn't have many players.

1.)

Neither, I played to kill time.

2.)

Being a healer doesn't generally improve people's fun. I had played as an acolyte before but it wasn't to make others have more fun. Generally being healed doesn't make the game more enjoyable, possibly less aggrivating at best.

3.) I don't play MMOs anymore, I got bored of them. I had played Ragnarok for around seven months when I did play it.

4.) Last year, I stopped during the same year.

5.) No, I haven't played in several months.

6.) No, I quit, that should prove it didn't control me.

7.) No, because I already don't play it.

8.) I remember this one time that I had to ban thirty-seven alternate accounts that someone made to troll my server.

9.) No, that's why I quit.

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?

I always ALWAYS play for fun. If I get better just for playing it then all the better but as it is I don't care about being the best. Which is why I don't play online with randoms because whether it's fighting games or shooters I will get my ass handed to me.

People tell you to play online to get better but most people can't get better if they are pummeled into the ground hard enough that they can't see how or why the opponent did something.

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

Depends on what you mean, exactly. I try to get people excited by being enthusiastic about the game I'm playing.

3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?

My most-played multiplayer game is probably BlazBlue or Guilty Gear. I don't play many multiplayer games but when I do it's usually just with my brother and it's usually one of these two games though I still mostly play them alone for the arcade and story modes.

4. When did you start with these types of games?

Soul Calibur II was probably the first fighting game I really got into (there was Tekken 3 but that was so long ago I wasn't exactly good at it or super into it because I was so young and sucked at most games)

5. Do you consider yourself a good player?

Not at all. I'm average at my best and terrible at my worst. I can hardly beat I-No in Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus Arcade on the second easiest setting if that tells you anything. Admittedly she's pretty damn hard for a final boss but it shows how much I actually suck. I can hardly beat people who play the game casually.

6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?

Never. I don't play the same game for very long. More often than not I stop playing a game part way depending on how long it is. It's rare for a game to grab me from beginning to end and rarer still for me to play the multiplayer for long except for coop.

7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?

See above.

8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?

I remember getting a perfect win against I-No once with Baiken. Not sure how I pulled it off considering how much trouble I usually have with her. I'm not even that good with Baiken so I guess I was having a good day. lol

9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

I have many games I like the most but most of them aren't multiplayer so I can't answer this really.

3. 3 - 4 months

4. A year ago.

5. Yes.

6. No, I only play when needed. To either prestige or have fun.

7. No, because right now since Sony didn't reset my password. I'm stuck with a game I'm doing well in.

8. Yes, that FPS are really good for great teamwork.

9. Yes I am.

1. Both, though mostly for fun.

2. Eeyup. Sadly a team consisting out of one Medic, four Spies and five Snipers still isn't that effective...

3. 10 Years

4. 10 years ago

5. Eenope. I may be knowledgeable on the topic of the games I play but I lack the skill to make use of it.

6. Eenope.

7. Eenope.

8. A variety of things, though nothing in particular stands out.

9. Eeyup...unless the tank and the mage try to pull different groups at the same time while the healer is regenerating mana etc.

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?

I play for fun, but I always try to be the best that I can be.

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

Eh, sometimes I may play as a medic, but usually I try to just help my team, not make it actually fun for them.

3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?

One year ago.

4. When did you start with these types of games?

Five years ago.

5. Do you consider yourself a good player?

I find that I'm okay, but I know that I have room for improvement, and I know that only practice makes perfect.

6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?

No, I feel that even if I'm at the bottom of the scoreboard, I need to be in control of my actions.

7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?

Yes. Currently I really only play Team Fortress 2. I'm going to switch once I get a better computer.

8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?

Not anything in particular.

9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

Yes!

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?

To have fun, of course! I will never be the best because there are too many people who have WAY too much time on their hands. I still do my best to keep up with them though.

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

In the game I play, there are no healers. I tried it in WoW, but I didn't find it fun at all. I couldn't admire the mobs or anything, I was just watching the 25 health bars to the left.

3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?

I played WoW since vanilla to the middle of the wrath of the lich king. I left around the argent tournament if anyone cares. Right now, I'm playing GW2.

4. When did you start with these types of games?

When I was in grade 8 with my school friends. We had a small guild called Noobs United. It kind of fell apart due to inactivity, but I kind of miss it.

5. Do you consider yourself a good player?

I consider myself a modestly decent player. I'm not absolutely hopeless and I know how to use the characters I have fairly well.

6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?

Not really. It is ultimately me in control of my actions and I'm actually incredibly ahead on my studies. I completed an assignment yesterday that wasn't even assigned until today! :P

7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?

Not really. There are a few kinks in Guild Wars 2, but overall I really like it.

8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?

Many hilarious moments with my friends. I remember one instance when we were running the scarlet monastery and houndmaster loksey glitched out. We were losing the fight against him, so we took a tactical retreat out of the dungeon. When we returned, all we heard was him yelling: "RELEASE THE HOUNDS! RELEASE THE HOUNDS! RELEASE THE HOUNDS! RELEASE THE HOUNDS!" on a continuous loop. It was hilarious.

9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

Of course! If I wasn't, I wouldn't be playing them! Just keep the bad PUG groups away from me, eh?...

I played warrock a lot. Game was full of hackers and those kind of things and I even get banned for no reason but everything went better after Gamersfirst. I mean they were literally supporting hackers if you ask me. Game is better right now but funny how most people stopped playing it after G1. I still play warrock time to time. ^^ I played an mmorpg a lot too.

1. Mostly fun, sometimes about being best too.

2. Of course. I'm a team player.

3. Maybe like 5 years in Warrock (I gave up a lot and started to play it again a lot.) And that kind of long time in that mmorpg. I still play it but just for fun because of boredom. I don't give a flying feather about it. :P

4. Like 5 years ago.

5. Yes.

6. I don't think so.

7. Well my pc is not so good and I don't feel like giving the slightest money about my pc or about games. I hardly every give money for that. Also I usually keep switching and then probably finish playing it soon. I'm ok with warrock, I guess.

8. A lot. I play it with a friend from Teamspeak, and I'm even in the Teamspeak right now. I mean we had so many funny moments, I can tell some of them. There was one moment where my mouse were stuck and I couldn't fire and then fired it randomly and a guy was dead by 3 bullets in his head, it was extremely accurate and funny. And then he was like; "What the hell???"

And there was a moment where my friend was leaning from somewhere to look around and it was his bad luck that someone was just fired an rpg coming right over there, it ended up with a headshot. Pretty rare in warrock.

Once my friend was was messing with speakers while in the game and then he was attacked by some grenades and it killed his speakers. >.<

Also one time a hacker said something like: "I wouldn't die if I were hacking." and it is still one of the most classic jokes around my friends.

There was like hundreds of these and I'm pretty sure they were much funnier than these. Too bad I can't remember most of them

9. Yes but it gets really annoying time to time. Especially if people are using 3rd party programs or if things go bad all the time and it ends up with a really bad score.

*Say what kind of game you like out of the above or similar that you play and answer:

I play a multitude of online games from strategy (League of Legends) to FPS (planetside 2) to MMOs (Eve Online). Fav is prob planetside 2 atm

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?

To have fun and to win. I don't care about KDR and personal glory, completing the objective is the important thing.

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

Not particularily, I believe they can make their own fun. (Plus I generally play sneaky barstard classes)

3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?

Eve online on and off for about 5 years now (with a solid 2.5 year break in the middle)

4. When did you start with these types of games?

When I was about 13 or 14. Eve was a little much for me then so I gave up the ghost after a while. Went back when I'm older and having a whale of a time.

5. Do you consider yourself a good player?

League: Below average tbo

Planetside 2: Yes, my shooting skills are meh but I use my head very effectively and actually help lead a spec ops squad in my outfit (planetside 2's equivalent of a guild)

Eve Online: Good god no, but this should change very soon (going out into dangerous territory with a new guild, hoping to get lots of pvp knowledge there)

6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?

Note particularily, I never join communities that require attendance

7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?

Not particularily

8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?

My first league penta (5 kills in quick succession)

Losing my first battleship in Eve (being a complete moron). Long story short was a complete moron and wandered into enemy territory.

Wiping out an entire fortified base under the enemies nose in planetside 2

9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

Definatly, its the other times (minus MLP time) that arn't as good. Playing ma online vidya games is my way of calming down and staying sane.

for !!SCIENCE!!

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?

I know being one of the best if not the best is beyond my ability, so I try to have more fun than seriousness to be all pro.

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

Not really, but I do chat with my friends lol.

3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?

I prefer not to answer this, sorry. :(

4. When did you start with these types of games?

Like about 3years ago, though I am not much of a gamer.

5. Do you consider yourself a good player?

I'm alright, depends what game. But lately I have been getting better at fps games.

6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?

Yes I have, not to mention spent countless amounts of money to be more "pro", but that was like 2 years ago.

7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?

Not really.

8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?

Getting scammed, that hurt.

9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

Not really, I mean I enjoy it but I do have other stuff I do.

7. No.

8. Huhu. All the good games where I was "pro." :P

1. In the game I play we have 'war groups' with many ranks. I'm a high rank in all, so most people look up to me as one of the best. But, I like to consider myself just as good as everyone else.

2. Most of the time we don't have medipacks or anything. But the purpose is to have fun.

3. Roblox

4. One year ago

5. Ehh... If you play any FPS with me I'll probably talk a little smack and fail. Except on CoD.

6. Sometimes I play a little more than I should.

7. I want an Xbox 360 or a PS3.

8. I shot a rocket in the air at a moving helicopter not aiming for it at all and got a direct hit. Thank God for good eyesight.

9. Depends, sometimes the other players can be pissoffs.

I play games like Halo 4, Battlefield 3, Portal, Civ Rev, RISK and Borderlands 2 fairly often, so this applies to me as well, I guess. Civ Rev, RISK and Portal not so much for the point of this discussion, however.

1. Yes. I play for fun, but I just so happen to be good at playing Halo, so I usually do quite well whether I'm taking the game seriously or not. I don't particularly care about my K/D ratio, unlike many FPS gamers, and mine usually hovers around 1.12 or 1.00.

2. Well, I don't usually mind playing support-type characters, sometimes I actually prefer it, but unfortunately those aren't as common in the games I play. But yes, it's more fun to play if the guys I'm playing with have fun too.

3. I've had Xbox Live for five years now. Been playing online since the days of Halo 3. I've played every Halo game released, including Halo Wars, so... I've been playing Halo for what, eleven years now?

4. We got our first Xbox in... I forget exactly... late 2001? Original Xbox, and I played Halo: Combat Evolved back then with my dad, as well as Jet Set Radio Future and Rallisport Challenge. So... Since I was six or seven.

5. I consider myself a good player, yes. Me and a group of friends actually formed a Halo Reach Clan that went undefeated in clan matches for more than a year. We had to disband when I left for college, though... :(

6. Not sure what you mean, controlled by the game. Certainly I've been addicted to gaming before. I did literally nothing else Freshman Year of High School.

7. Nah, I'm fairly content with my gaming repotoire as it is.

8. Hm... I remember actually earning a tactical nuke in the original COD Black Ops. I was really excited about that. And I remember how our clan used to play... We were an HLG Clan in Reach, Hidden League Gaming. We would get ahead by six points or so, then all hide from the other team. It was always fun. We would do it in Slayer, BTB, and even in Rumble Pit a few times... It was fun when we did it in Rumble Pit. We'd go into the game, seven of us, and all hide from the eighth guy. And send him messages. That was our recruiting tactic. We'd promise to come out and not kill him if he didn't kill us, then we'd just mess around the rest of the game, having 'dance parties', and looking for new hiding places. But when we did take the game seriously, we couldn't be beaten.

9. I'm never happy.

I play some FPS games, like Halo, CoD, Battlefield, and TF2. I also (used to) play Runescape and World of Warcraft for a short bit.

1. Are you playing to have fun or to be the best?
It's a bit of both. I like to play games to get better than others, because that is more fun to me.

2. Do you try to make others have fun too? (I.E. playing as a healer/some type of support character)

Not really. I usually go for what's best for me, but that is not to say that I absolutely will not heal someone or drive their vehicle or whatever. I don't mind playing support roles, but I prefer more central roles.
3. How long have you been playing the game you have played the most?
I've been playing Halo since... 2006, maybe? It's been a good long time :)
4. When did you start with these types of games?
I started FPS's when i fist played Halo 2 on the original Xbox.
5. Do you consider yourself a good player?
Yes, I do. I consider myself to be better than most people out there.
6. Have you ever felt controlled by the game?
Not at all. I am in control, I can do as I please with it.
7. Would you like to switch the game that you play the most to something else? And why haven't you yet if you want to?
Well, I'm perfectly content playing my few FPS's and RPGs, so no thanks.
8. Is there something in particular that you remember from your history of playing these games?
I remember all of the weapons and their spawns and stuff :<
9. Are you happy when you play the game you like the most?

Mhmmm <3
