Now that i thought about it, i think the scootaloo scene is somewhat going to be like another version of sonic rainboom. Think about it Scootaloo is like rainbow dash and diamond tiara and silverspoon are like the guys who were teasing rainbow that she couldnt do a sonic rainboom.

 

That would be a fairly interesting scene. Scootaloo always wanted to be like Rainbow Dash, though to me that sounds like a situation in which she'd gain her cutie mark. If she learned to fly and got her cutie mark, that would be a shocking episode to say the least. It seems unlikely with that in mind. Maybe I'm not thinking this through properly.

 

Though really, if they finally decided to let the Crusaders grow up a little I don't think it would hurt the group. Each could gain their cutie marks little by little throughout the season, and the fate of the Cutie Mark Crusaders could be an episode.

After watching the panel via YT (I was at the con but the panel was closed by the time i got there )

I was like GREAT CELESTIA!

 

S4 is gonna be HUGE!

 

As far as AJ's New Song its epic than Raise This Barn.

 

All was not lost as I have autographs from the cast & staff at the Hasbro booth plus saw Equestria Girls at the con.

And after watching the movie went and bought the DVD at the SHOUT Factory booth.

Ok I am turning on my /Rant light, deal with it.

 

Hoooooooooooly shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipping! Lol, wow wow wow, my mind is all over the map right now thinking about this. And honestly all it keeps coming back too is, joy. I am so utterly pleased,happy, and excited. And a thought just accord to me.Now i am old, like 30 moons old, so when we talk about animated films, series, anime, games, fan bases, etc etc etc, i can tend to drop all over the mat. I am a disney kid, a anime nerd, a gamer spaz, one of those mmos weirdos, a guy who knows what a mudd is and to top it off a table top/online/game roleplayer. I was raised by cartoons, i was raised by animation period. If it wasnt the Lion King, or Gen1 MLP it was Gargoyles or Tenchi Muyo, Sailor Moon or DBZ, followed by healthy replays of Chrono Trigger and FF6.

For all I know you're joking, but I have to point this out anyway .3.

 

Hate to play Devil's Advocate, but that was a dream sequence, it can't be treated as 100% canonical proof of anything xP IMO, she wouldn't need her scooter if she could move that fast on land. Sure, one could use the 'adrenaline from being scared' argument, but it still seemed like an exaggerated speed thrown in, to help further demonstrate her fear and desire to get far away, in her dream.

Okay, now that I've recovered from my epic fangasm, it's time for some theories.

 

The Scootalo episode

This one was long coming.  Scoots not being able to fly was an issue that had to be brought up.  Tying it into the Equestria Games was genius.  Now we're even more interested in seeing it because we want to see how all this plays out.

 

The Power Ponies

Seems to be some sort of magic dream.  Perhaps Discord plays a little joke on the mane six, sending them into a comic book.

 

The Apple Family

I'm still confused here.  Why is Pinkie Pie with them?  Where are they going?  Will there be Pinkie/Big Mac ship teasing?  It's a good song, though.

 

Nightmare Moon

I was way to hyped to notice the subtle hint that it was a vision of the past.  The palace is different from the one we usually see, and want Twilight was saying didn't seem to register with Luna.  Either way, I am so hyped!  I just...

When we watched the first episode with the games, we learned how important these games are to her idol. What better storyline would it be to see two pegasi dueling for the same thing, better yet-for two different places and on top:she is your sister.

 

I think RD isn't going to support Scoots willy nilly, these games mean the world to her. Don't think she won't put her hoof in this.

I'm guessing Scootaloo and Co learn of the games through the director of the games and learn they possibly can be in the games representing Ponyville. I'm guessing the crew (DT gang) learn of this and tries to make it so one can't enter as a team. Really, what if they entered? Scootaloo is known for anxiety, what if this whole problem wasn't easily going to be resolved by RD since we seen her bias. She learns there is no reason a disability should bring one down. She enters with something she possibly made. (She did do the machinery portion in One Bad Apple) and soon wins.

Moral:Don't fear that a disability might way you down in your goals, the only barriers there are against you are the ones you build yourself.

Well, they DID say everywhere ELSE its for her flightlessness and the producers (or at least said here) there WOULD be a disability episode. What else would I assume she would be? How many other ponies are 'disabled?' Besides, the likely hood that it'll be with Derpy or Twist or even Snails? It wouldn't make sense for a pony training her if she's in the games, RD LOVES them. She also loves winning.

 

Note:SWEETIE's not bullied because its common for fillies not to use magic. She might not even be hovering. She's jumping. AJ does that a LOT. She also tends to flare her wings despite not flying, so I'm assuming she's JUMPING and not really hovering.

December 21st is the only Saturday in Winter of 2013, so I personally think the chances of a 2013 premiere are fairly slim. (I also doubt they're going to change the premiere day-of-the-week) My personal prediction is a late-January or anytime in Febuary. Early March could be possible, but I'm hopeful it's not beyond that.

You still haven't addressed how you think Scootaloo was just 'jumping' when she was in mid-air longer than one or two seconds.

 

Also, I recently learned that Faust herself stated the only reason Scootaloo hasn't been able to fly was because she hasn't figured out how yet.

I actually didstate how she could jump to do that, but I will state again.

 

In other pictures, she was shown jumping, was she not? In the beginning of the episode, she was actually shown jumping enough to appear like she's flying. This is common. In Cutie Pox, she jumped and floated for all of a second and then dropped back down promptly. She couldn't carry her weight in Ponyville Confidential and certainly not in Sleepless in Ponyville. She never tried to even fly in Sleepless in Pony ville when she was going to fall. It was shown earlier that she had a problem in PC but it got worse in Hurricane Shy when she wasn't even there when other pegasi were.(Rumble, a colt) It was also shown that she had been lacking in flying far beyond other ponies icutie Mark Chronicles before RD liked flying so much.FLUTTERSHY flew in the episode when they all actually appeared younger than Scootaloo was. UNLESS SHE IS SEVERELY HELD BACK, then she has to be unable. She herself probably knows, states it bluntly too.

 

RD looked younger then Scootaloo when she won that race, the bullies even looked younger. RUMBLE was strong enough to be in the tornado. Plus, there are other places outside of /this/ thread you know. Remember, Lauren's word doesn't count as much anymore, so when she means she doesn't know how to fit her in, who's to say that they never came up with a story they held back after she left? She wasn't around for Sleepless in Ponyville, and she certainly can't give us canon.

 

Even when you take said into account, her words are directly followed by the network. She is bullied and in fights at schoola lot due to her being impaired. She hasn't flown even when she was there and hasn't shown much progression.

Isn't it strongly hinted that all pegasi have to develop their wing strength before they can fly?  Fluttershy, according to her flashback in Cutie Mark Chronicles, was a weak flyer when she was young, and she was pictured as being perhaps only slightly older and more developed than Scootaloo is in "present day".  I've so far seen nothing to indicate that it's normal for pegasi to be able to fly really early on - Pound Cake is the only baby pegasus seen flying anywhere in the show, Rainbow Dash is quite obviously specially talented (in fact, that's the most essential part of her character), and her rivals were apparently similarly talented.

 

So I think it's plausible that Scootaloo will just take longer to develop enough wing strength and coordination to fly properly than most pegasi, but that she will eventually get there as she grows up.  I doubt they'll make her stay grounded permanently, even for the sake of a "disabilities" episode.  I doubt this for two reasons:

 

One, there's nothing concrete to suggest that Scootaloo is in fact disabled - her wings aren't even especially small for her body, and we've seen that an overly muscled male pegasus can have really tiny wings and still fly, suggesting that flight ability is at least somewhat powered by magic (perhaps the same magic that enables pegasi to walk on clouds and interact with them as solid objects).  I'd think that if they were going to have Scootaloo be disabled, she would lack ANY ability to hover, raise her body off the ground with her wings, or do any sort of interaction with clouds - she'd be an earth pony with ornamental wings.  They've already shown that she's got some capability - just not enough yet.

 

And two, with all that in mind, I'd think a "disability" episode would either change her character considerably (and put her in a victim role that she doesn't deserve), or would take the tack of overcoming disability (she couldn't fly before, but she can now).  I don't see how they could pull the latter off without either requiring some Deus Ex Machina, a la a magic infusion by Twilight, or something really contrived or too complex for the show's target audience.  Much as I hate to say it, such a story would likely just not work with Scootaloo - I think it would give kids the wrong impression about the reality of disability.

 

Instead, if they are going to take the disability route, I think they'd be best off introducing a new character (perhaps a new colt in school who moved to Ponyville from another town).  Not only can the story deal with the inevitable topics of bullying and self-esteem, but also give the Cutie Mark Crusaders the chance to show what great fillies they are by bringing this new character into their fold.  I think that has a lot of potential.

 

TL;DR: I highly doubt they're going to victimize Scootaloo any further.

Really?  I'd gotten the impression that Fluttershy was slightly older than present-day Scootaloo, and in fact that all the ponies in flight camp were in the equivalent age range of maybe 10-12 years old, whereas the CMC seem to be more around the 7-10 range.  I realize the present-day Mane 6 are said to be roughly equivalent to mid-to-late teens (high school age), and EQG certainly cements the high-school range.  But I got the distinct impression that flashback Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and the bullies were all a bit more developed than the CMC are.

Actually, Scootaloo already developed her wings far better then many other ponies we met before, she works with them quiet often even if they are only 'pushing' her, she did pull the whole CMC over, managed to carry supplies and carried Pinkie. Isn't THAT strong? Plus, she ride frequently enough to gain muscle. If she can pull ponies around her scooter just fine and with ease, mind you they are all more then what she weighs, she would have had her muscles clearly worked out. I mean, the big pony can fly, he works out, but someone who pulls ponies the same weight as her can't? I mean-she DID pull what Rarity made Sweetie pull while sleep deprived. If anything, its a shock as to WHY she hasn't flown earlier.

Just because you have a disablity doesn't mean you certainly can't learn at least basics or do basic things. I mean, if she can't fly she can still hover, but it doesn't mean fly. I have a speech impediment and they said I can't do x amount of things, but I can do what I can obviously.She will hover at least if she had help, but that doesn't equate to flying.

It is true that Scootaloo is unusual in her apparent inability to fly. Given the universe, I'm guessing that flight ability has less to do with raw wing strength and more to do with innate magic (explaining how a bodybuilding giant pegasus with tiny wings can fly well and a lighter but otherwise fully developed pony like Fluttershy finds it more difficult.) If that's the angle they were going to use, then I could see how they could explore this more with Scootaloo.

 

Even so, I'd rather see them use this as more of a way for Scoots to relate to a truly disabled pony as a friend, than for Scoots herself to be the one everyone goes "Aww, poor disabled filly" with.

The AJ/Pinkie episode has me interested. Hopefully we're going to learn some more about Pinkie's family. While watching the preview I was thinking it would cool if Pinkie found out she and AJ are related, like distant cousins. That could set up a whole new dynamic for those two.

 

I wonder if the return of Nightmare Moon event is going to take the comic book into any consideration. The last arc dealt with the nightmare spirits that gave Luna the power in the first place. Be pretty sweet if they kept that in the continuity and make references to the Nightmare Rarity story.
