At first, I was confused about it. Then, I started disliking the idea. As time I went on though, I started accepting the idea and liking it. I'm very interested in seeing where the writers go with this in season 4. Just because she has wings and is a princess, that doesn't mean I'll abandon my favorite little bookworm. She is still the Twilight we all know and love. She just has a bigger responsibility now.

I mean, yes, okay, the episode was rushed and may have been better had it been in two parts, but, we get the guarantee of a new season, so...

What's your opinion on Twilight Sparkle's ascension into an Alicorn Princess?

Personally,I think that it was a good idea.  Not only does our bookworm now have wings,but it leaves open area for character development.  I like the idea that she's a princess now,and I don't understand why people are saying that with Faust around it would have been different when she was going to make Twilight a princess anyway (she said so while being interviewed).

So,I may like it,but what's your opinion on Twilight's ascension?

It bugs me when people say Twilight is a Sue once she gets wings. Now I understand part of the argument. "She mastered her studies/understanding of the Magic of Friendship and therefore was promoted to royalty. I however propose that this argument can be easily debunked. This does not change Twilight's personality. As seen in Equestria girls she acts just like she does in the regular show despite being a princess and having supposed "mastery" over the magic of friendship and the ability to write new magic. Twilight is still timid when it comes to things she knows nothing about or is unprepared for and she is also still prone to panicking a bit.

 

Here is an example from Naruto supporting this:

 

Naruto has trained to hone his skills and techniques like the Rasengan and Shadow Clones. Around the Pain arc he has virtually mastered Rasengan and shadow clones to the point where he create new and powerful techniques and variants of them. With these skills he managed to become hero of the village. This doesn't make him a Gary Sue though. He is still young, naive, and still impulsive to the point of getting himself into situations he can't handle himself.

Careful such characters like Naruto and Itchigo have become overpowered and 'beat anything' in the eyes of many. Thus using Naruto as an example might not be the best of ideas.

i support alicorn twily, the doors are wide open for new stories and possibilities with the show and i like the move. i was shocked in the best possible way to see her become an alicorn, she certainly earned it in my opinion.

Personally, I want to know what they'll do with her. I saw that Season 4 preview via YouTube and am wondering, "What is Twilight's role now that she's a princess?" As long as she can still be with the Mane 5 and Spike, I say "Go for it!"

I personally don't like Twilicorn too much, but it could improve the story.

 

On one hand, It could give her more places to go. They could show other places that we haven't gotten to see yet, and explain some history about Equestria.

 

On another, I just don't like the idea of Twilight being a princess and it doesn't add too much to the story, except possible plotholes.

 

I'll decide when the season comes out.

At first, I was strongly opposed to the notion. I mean, it makes Twi superior, messes up the two of each kind in the mane six, and so on. It worried me a bunch, and frankly, I was agitated about it.

 

But! Now that there's been time to let it sink it, I'm excited to see what season four holds! I wonder what Hasbro will be doing with Twiligth now that she's a princess? It'll be interesting to see how things go over.

 

Also, I know it appeared that all of her friends were extremely happy for her, but, maybe they'll get jealous?

I think that's mostly because that episode is really rushed, I don't know if the writing team all caught cold or something, but the script is almost non-existent, dialog is really basic and they try to fill the time by putting way too much songs in it. What a disaster..

I don't really support the fact cause:

1. MLP: FiM might end quickly for less ideas

2. Will they main ponies start saying something like "Oh my gosh, it's Twilight"?

3. She gets more recognition in the story

and 4. Not really equal. It would be much better if it's done at the end of the whole series.

I'm okay with Twilight Sparkle becoming an alicorn actually. (I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for that...) She was basically the main character. We saw some Sneak Peeks at Season 4 and saw Twilight as an alicorn in 2 different scenes. I think there's a good chance she will be an alicorn in Season 4. I for one am fine with that. (Apparently a lot of people dislike Twilight as an alicorn.)

Me personally, I love it. It is amazing to think that a show of this kind would exercise something even really great shows would not: the fortessimo to change the formula. Twilight was the magician of the group, and this was a necessary part, but now she is a princess, and while she's still just as powerful, if not more, I think she will have her hooves full sooner or later with princess business. And plus, it's just really cool! I don't know what it is, but ascending to godesshood is pretty sweet in my opinion.

How is that relevant to my argument about character developement? If the character has legitimate flaws that cause internal conflict and even external conflict then power shouldnt matter. Power does not equate to making a character "perfect" and instead adds extra pressure to a character that make them even more interesting because of their struggle between controlling their powers and others becoming dependent on them because of their powers in order to protect them and their interests.

 

The issue you are actually adressing is if Twilight will Deus Ex Machina like many anime characters do when the writers cannot progress a part of the story properly and instead BS through the problem instantly. This happened a lot as Season 3 was short on time and recources and rushed many episodes and resolutions to several in-episode conflicts. Seeing as Hasbro is taking MLP as a top priority this is less likely to happen as they have more resources and number of episodes to resolve story conflicts more effectively in Season 4.

 

So don't tell me what examples I can and can't use unless anyone has a specific example related to the subject that can prove my point wrong.

Is defeating a few baddies and jury-rigging a solutuion (namely one you said wasn't possible) to a mess you created really worthy of being awarded such an important title?

Yes, I do support Twilicorn. She is my favorite pony. I was sceptical at first. I knew it was going to happen from the start. I like Twilicorn and for all u haters, back of. She is more adorable as an alicorn.

I support her, I think it's a nice new change to be brought into the series.  Sure you could say that its for marketing purposes only, so little girls will wanna buy more PRINCESS STUFF!  But I think that it was a good idea, so that Twilight finally gets something out of being Celestia's student for so long.

I've nothing against it. It was meant to happen anyway and while she may have the title of princess she still has a long away to go. Celestia's been one for 1000 years and even she can still get it wrong. its not like we're gonna see Twilight with her own Empire from the start of S4. (Least I hope not.... )
