There is no new Twilight. Shes the same Twilight we know and love!

I agree I mean in season 4 she was freaking out in her room about her check list and was telling spike about  might getting fired on her first dutys of being a princess  ^_^ just as in season 1,2,3 and now 4 all that changed was that she's not having to send 1 million letters to princess celestia a week and she has wings, she doesn't wear a crown and she does 'nt get called princess so I really don't know how to answer your question because I always liked twilight and i don't think thats going to change because she's modest and wants to continue being who she is ,not some alicorn who says things like I command you too or I'm a princess so I'm better than you things like that she is still a citizen of ponyville still has her regular friends just gained two inches taller and can fly to get her books now.So thats my theory so there really is NO new twilight sparkle I have to agree with

I don't love or hate New Twilight.

I just miss Old Twilight.

I disagree with some of you and would say that there are indeed two Twilights, the change was simply too gradual for you to notice though. Even if both old and new Twilights are both OCD and dorky, i think you are all forgetting that it isn't her only personality trait. The Twilight we see in season 4 is a completely different pony than the Twilight we saw in early season 1, for example.

I liked season 1 Twilight. New Twilight doesn't have the spunk that Old Twilight had, and is basically pony-jesus. She used to be occasionally snarky, hot-headed (literally), guided by logic, and was more introverted. New Twilight is more guided by intuition (she just gets this *feeling* that she should do something and sticks by that feeling), is less introverted, and rarely gets mad anymore. None of these are bad traits or anything, but there's no use denying that she's hasn't changed. Its character development i guess, but personality growth is a far slower process, and there will always be certain things one's personality will completely resist against. People don't just flip personalities like that in a matter of months, there's always resistance.

I'm not going to be weak and submit to the whole "Twilicorn" idea just because there's no stopping it now.  It was and will always be a shitty idea.  I've thought it over MANY times and I always get to this conclusion.  It was abrupt and I was disillusioned after watching it.  F[_]ck Hasbro.  Money mongering bastards.  Rot in the lowest planes of Oblivion.

You're, again, either forgetting, or blatantly ignoring the fact that MLP:FiM is first and foremost a kids show, it's not meant to be taken this seriously nor is it meant to be 'interpreted' in such needlessly complicated ways.

your idea of Celestia being some manipulative villain will never happen in the show's canon 'cause one of the things even most kids would call fowl on is inconsistency. And that's cause if characters are suddenly derailed or made unlikeable, especially if the reasons for it are never explained, it will confuse children and make them lose interest in the story.

Which is why Celestia never has been and never will be an actual villain, tyrant, or any of the sort. 'cause both the show and comics portrayed her as a genuinely wise and benevolent, if slightly eccentric, co-ruler of a nation. And whatever nitpicks some 'fans' give out as filmsy excuses to pretend she's a villain are not gonna change how she's portrayed in the show in any way.

I will answer back that you are lowering your standards of quality. Just because MLP is a kids show doesn't give it free license to be stupid. MLP is not supposed to be stupid, its not Power Rangers.

In one episode of power rangers, there is a doll that the bad guys bring to life, and amongst the dolls first words are "I sure do like being alive!", by the end of the episode the doll becomes a good guy, and what do the power rangers do? The turn him back into a doll! Wow, that's terrible! It would get me mad if I didn't just disregard Power Rangers as just a fun but stupid kids show. So, are you really saying we should take that approach to MLP? That we can just disregard it because its a kids show?

MLP is a good show, a smartly written show, not mere entertainment but a coherent work of fiction that shouldn't be brought down by terrible writing and people that tolerate terrible writing.

I don't recall comparing MLP to Power Rangers in that regard, and I find it weird you're bringing that up in response to my argument against the 'Tyrantlestia' interpretation you seem fond of.

Granted, I know I bring up Power Rangers alot, but I don't recall comparing that show's writing to that of MLP.

I like both shows, but for very different reasons, and all I'm saying is that I fail to see how you persist on defending this 'Tyrantlestia' interpretation when almost every canon source provides obvious evidence to the contrary and will continue to do so no matter what certain people try to say about it.

Why don't we ever see humans in Equestria?

they're hiding, the ponies stole all their clothes.

I fully support Twilicorn. Now, that's not to say I would be upset at all if she suddenly lost her wings and title as a princess, however she's still the same nerd she was before, and I kind of feel like although it was NOT a necessary change for the series, it wasn't a bad one.

Wait. You mean Hasbro wasn't in it for the money to begin with? :o

Also, "conclusion"?

Yeah, no. That's quite the opinion you got there, though.

Honestly, Season 4 is what I expected so far. Twilight with wings and a title, but still Twilight.

Twilight was and will always be Twilight.

I actually don't really care i just see the wings as a new plot device.

That much is obvious but the question still remains as to whether or it as a plot device will in fact work, a plot device can either be a good or a bad thing depending on what it is and how it is played out.

That's true, but i just don't see a reason to be hating it.

I'm just gonna cut to the chase here and explain why the Twilicorn was a bad idea.

The show has accurately portrayed princesses as rulers, instead of some sort of fantasy. And that's where the problem comes in: Twilight is not ready, experienced in, qualified, interested in, or prepared to be a princess.

1: She is not qualified due to being extremely dependent on schedules and order, this is something that would probably backfire on her later on.

2: Aside from the WWU, she has no known experience of politics and ruling.

"But she must know a lot about politics since she reads so much!"

Knowledge is not the same as experience, one may know how to fight a bear, but that does not mean one can.

3: Twilight has never shown any interest in politics or ruling, if anything she appears to be more interested in science, technology (magic), and history.

There simply is no good reason for Twilight to become a princess.

If only people could let it go, like give me a break! It is hard for someone in power to be very dependent on their schedules, because they have so many duties to attend to. Ruling isn't always the main thing here, it's to be strong and independent to prove to everyone that you earned your right of being in power. But, you give some valid points the sad thing is it can't be undone.

But the problem is wether she is prepared to wield it responsibly. And since does Twilight want to become a princess?

She never wanted to become a princess, but she earned it anyway. She has shown so far that she can wield it responsibly, disliking it is okay since you can stand by your opinion but it can't change what happened.

Being a princess in Equestria is different from being a princess in our world, and we have no reason to assume that becoming an alicorn princess requires Twilight to turn into some hardcore politician.

  1. She is qualified mainly because of her strong leadership traits she possesses. Also, order and organization is a good idea for a ruler and even when something goes wrong, she has Celestia and Spike to calm her down and keep her in line.
  2. She grew up with Princess Celestia, that combined with the vast amount of knowledge she has should make it possible for her to have a basic idea in the right (Celestia) and wrong (Sombra) ways to be a ruler.
  3. Just because she never mentioned that she wants to be a princess doesn't mean she'll hate her new title.

She seems like a highly qualified ruler to me, she'll get the hang of it soon enough. She earned her title and she definitely deserves it.

There are a bunch of threads on this issue! Celestia thinks she is, what more do you want? Her whole life was leading up to this destiny. She never indicated that she wanted to be anything, so becoming a princess isn't anymore far fetched. She was Celestia's prized student and prodigy and most students must one day become the master.

Knowledge does not substitute experience, with that logic you wight as well elect me as president.

Evidence? How are Equestrian princesses different form our princesses?

Authoritarianism anyone?
