I have several musicians that I consider to be my favorite ones, but my absolute favorite singer of all time is Chris Cornell. He can sing like no other

When it comes to my favorite musician in general, it's Kurt Cobain. He is responsible for ending the shitty Glam Rock era and bringing up alternative rock in the mainstream. He did music a great favor

Dave Grohl. There was no question about that. On top of being a substantially talented musician (the EP he created before forming the Foo Fighters, he played every single instrument by himself) and a brilliant singer, he's also an extremely likeable guy. He's friendly and connected to his fans, he has a great sense of humour, and he loves what he does. His voice gives every song the extra emotion it needs; from pumping out the rock in Monkey Wrench to making things sombre in Stranger Things Have Happened.

Heh, pretty much. Really flexible when you listen to a SYL song right next to one of his solo project songs. And if you've heard the Ziltoid the Omniscient album, then you'll know that he voices everyone.

 

Also, Chris Alvestam counts. Most people knew him from Scar Symmetry and Solution .45 which are both melodeath, but he also does some cool trad death projects like Miseration or Torchbearer, where I think he did both vocals and guitar. Then he's got his solo project, which is progressive pop, where he plays everything, which includes a saxophone.

Bono of U2. Although he is considered to be annoying in his humanitarian efforts and overall ego, the man has always been known as a brilliant lyricist, and is one of the core reasons U2 is my favorite band ever. He is also a fantastic singer with a pretty wide range. Look at clips in the 80s and 90s of him.

 

Even today he still shines on occasion, not bad for a 50 year old.

At the moment my favorite singer/musician would have to be Beck. The thing I really like about him is the fact that he almost has a completely different "sound" between albums. Sometimes he'll even do something from out of left field on the same album.
