What are songs you like that aren't in your preferred genre of music?

 

For example, I prefer rock/metal, but I like a few rap songs, a few pop songs, etc.

Good topic, because this honestly happens a lot with me.

 

Although I mainly like Techno, Metal, Rock, and Alternative, some rap songs and pop songs do grow on me.

 

As an example, I really dig some Backstreet Boys songs and Nsync songs, and I'm not afraid to admit that. I used to hear my mother playing them a lot when I was little and, while I don't like the majority of their songs, a lot of them actually stuck with me, and I'm certainly no lover of boy bands.

 

Call them a guilty pleasure, if you will.

Yes, this is one of those Backstreet Boys songs that I used to sing all the time when I was younger!

 

Ha, glad I'm not the only one that found a lot of those supposedly silly boy band songs to actually be good every once in a while!

I don't even know what I like about this song, but when I played it in DJMAX I instantly loved it.

 

 

In fact, a lot of the music in DJMAX is outside of what I used to like, but by now I can't really say they're outside of my normal genres since they became some of my favorites since then.

Oh Celestia, I have not heard that song in ages! I didn't even know that was Chris Brown because I couldn't remember who the heck sung it! Guess I could've just typed the lyrics I remembered into Google...

 

Regardless, I can see why you'd like that song, it's catchy as heck! I'm listening to it while typing this response.

 

Kind of reminds me of how I love that Nelly song Country Grammar; when I was younger I loved listening to that song. Now that I'm older, I still like it, but now that I know all the stuff he says in that song... well, that's rap for ya!

I do not like rap, almost hate it, but I do like Tell Me by Adam Warock and Love the Way You Lie (Incorrect title?) by Eminem. I am okay with Eminem actually, so there is that.

 

I also do not like country music and honestly, I cannot think of a song that I actively like at the moment. If there is, it is probably a Johnny Cash song.

I'm the same way when it comes to country music, but Johnny Cash is the rare exception; just about every single one of his songs is an absolute gem to me. He's honestly up there on my lists of favorite artists.

Well since I like the most genres there aren't much to chose from. There are probably a lot of songs I like from genres that aren't my thing. But I know for a fact that I'm not at all into hard rock or metal or anything of that kind.

Normally I listen to hip-hop, rock, and a bit of rap. I did like boy bands when I was younger. I was reluctant to listen to One Direction but I don't know.... they just sort of grew on me. Especially after this song:

Well I normally listen to rock mostly, thats my main genre for the most part, but I do listen to a good bit of other stuff to.

 

I actually have to admit I kinda like alot of the popular songs that people don't seem to be to fond of to be honest... I know hate me .

 

Heck I actually really liked Call me Maybe for a while... I even kinda like some of Adele.

 

Oh and I like Grenade, and a couple of other songs by Bruno mars. I even liked "You don't know your beautiful" by One direction for a bit. .

 

I really am not totally put off by any artists really, nor do I hate them. I may not listen to much of their songs, but I'm pretty open to listen to mostly anything regardless of the artist or even genre.

 

Another thing I like to do is Sing songs like Lighters and Billionaire with my brother, even though I don't particularly care for rap and am terrible at anything close to rapping, I like to do some duets with my brother doing the rap parts of those songs and me singing the well singing parts . Its pretty fun.

 

I also sung some Payphone, and heck I've listened to, and even sung along to some popular pop songs and such, even some girl singers.

 

Besides pop songs I actually like to listen to a bit of country at times to, and its probaly one of my more favorites to sing along to, because one, its normally in a better range for me personally, and the fact that I'm southern means I can actually sing the style along pretty well I think. You know for someone who doesn't consider theirselves much of a good singer and never has had lessons, and really only sings in their room and the shower...

 

I really like to sing along to songs I listen to if you can't tell.

 

Would it be criminal to say I actually kinda like some of Justin beibers newer songs.... Maybe a little . One of my friends I talk to on skype is an awesome singer, and he sings along to all kinds of stuff, and sometimes we'll sing along with some others in skype, we sung some Justin beiber even.

 

Oh and besides the fact that Rebecca Black can't sing, I actually kinda like Friday...

 

I'm going to stop rambling on and embarrassing every last nerve of myself. Anyways, I've listened to a little of most genres really. The one I've actually listened to the least is probably Electronical stuff or Dubstep. I just don't typically find them all that appealing.

 

That said I'm pretty open minded to music, I love music in general really, its just such a great thing .

 

I don't restrict myself to a certain genre necessarily though, or year or anything, if I think it sounds good I'm probably going to listen to it .

Well I do enjoy listening to Rock and Dubstep (best genres) But I do like a few rap like that new popular song called Thrift Shop by Macklemore

i actually like all kinds of music, but there are some stuff that i value not as much. i think a big one is folk rock. i'm not entirely keen on it. and yet:

I don't think I posted these earlier, but these are a couple rap songs that I like a lot. I don't usually listen to rap, but there are a few songs I've heard that I actually really like.

I listen to all sorts of music (despite having started the Metal thread) and tend not to worry about genre.

 

But there are some pop songs that stuck with me from back in the day thanks to TRL.
