How Would You Feel About Another Character Joining The Mane 6 *TEMPORARILY*?

This was something I was thinking about the other day.

There's a lot of characters in MLP and lets face it there's just not enough room for them all to shine.

However I was thinking perhaps instead of episodes focused on background characters, what if they were introduced one by one?

 

So for example twilight could be away on her studies, and the other 5 need someone with magic (other than rarity). So they could then enlist Trixie for the whole episode and then wrap it all up by the end. This seems like it would work to me. There's already a lot of episodes where it's only bits and pieces of the mane 6 anyway.

 

Just something I was thinking about. Since I think it would be great for a lot more characters to get more development within the show.

I'm not gonna lie, I kinda like this idea. Gives some spotlight to characters that may not otherwise get it. As long as the true Mane 6 member comes back at the end, like you said. This could go places.

Well I'm not sure about joining the Mane 6, but I'd love to see other characters getting involved. Parents and other family and maybe the princesses with the Mane 5 as a group or one on one.

People won't like it if they do something like "they're going away for a little". All is needed is to give a different pony an episode without having to make anypony leave for a while. I for one request a Trixie episode!

I have no problem with it if the character would be Trixie, I'm having my hopes that she would move to ponyville or something.

Maybe seeing a "Secondary 6" possibly in Manehattan, seeing as there's a CMC group established there.

 

With Trixie taking the place of Twilight? And maybe more development on Aunt and Uncle Orange! Like, they're already some ponies established there.

I wouldn't really mind but then, it would have be the Mane 7 if there is another character joining. If it was Trixie then, some Trixie fans wouldn't really like that if Twilight is still in it.

I think this is a great idea. It adds more ideas for episodes, and good ones at that. And I think that they could create a pretty good storyline for it too.

I could see one episode early on in Season 4 where Twilight has a fundamental misunderstanding of what her alicorination actually means, and tries to find a replacement for herself in the Elements of Harmony. The episode is spent rotating a half-dozen different ponies into the spot with each failing miserably and hilariously before Twilight realizes the truth. She's still the Bearer of her Element, and being an alicorn doesn't change that.

Now this is how it should be done. I have always been against the idea that every background character needs an episode to themselves, but I can see like one background character helping 1 or all of the 6 out in just one episode. That I think would work a lot better. Trixie would not be one I would want to see right away, but if the episodes good then maybe or just a deferent character.

My idea of the perfect episode would be it is set in a Ponyville that is pretty much like Ponyville only slightly different. The mane six are entirely new ponies, and the storyline/moral learned make less than no sense. The episode ends with the Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg theme song, and nothing is ever explained. Also Applejack's face is melting in the background.

 

That looked very related to the topic while I was typing it. As for temporarily joining the mane six, I think it'd be neat. Maybe even just have it be the CMC helping them on an adventure. I don't know how they would explain it, or any of the sensible details, I just know it'd be neat. I'm also looking forward to them doing something with the additional 2 CMCs in Manehatten that Babs recruited. We've got an established secondary-mane-six waiting to be used. Maybe they'd be called the Tail Six. See, cause it's like Mane, but it's the other hair thing.

That's a really cool idea! I like that and it could make for an interesting part of a fanfic. Do you write fanfic? I could see Twilight being confused by her role now and how being a princess will change it.

I'd actually like to see how it would go, Trixie being apologetic and nice wouldn't be so bad if she was added to the group with an attitude like that. Although I wouldn't mind her 'bragging' personality once in a while just for laughs.

Although the Mane 6 were all the elements of harmony so I'm not sure where Trixie would fit in, unless some new element was found.

Okay I know this isn't going to happen. All of the mane 6 have miss some episodes and have they try to replace them for a short time? The answer is no. Twilight has miss episodes and most likely was busy with her studies, so yeah your idea won't be happening, but they could still develop other characters.

I have many different kernels of ideas like that one, in various states of progress, but the chances of me making good use out the idea is pretty low.

I am honestly not sure how I feel about the idea. I like how they focus on a specific character as the main one for the episode. Such as "Fluttershy episodes" as an example.

 

What i would like to see is some new ponies or old ones that haven't had much or any screen time. I have been waiting FOREVER for a princess episode where it just deals with fleshing out their character a bit more (specifically for Celestia).

Who doesn't think it would be great for other characters to get their shot at the limelight and get more development? I for one would love for one of the more famous background ponies to join the Mane Six (Lyra, Bon-Bon, Derpy, etc.). Although, this could pose as a problem if the character chosen isn't compatible with the Mane Six. Having a character who's fat, disabled, or any other deformity would be a great character and allow the Mane Six to not allow appearances to cause them to judge someone before they get to know them (this was done in "Bridle Gossip", I know). As someone who is visibly disabled, I really enjoyed "Snowdrop" and could easily relate to the character. That's what we need more of. Granted, people can relate to the characters and the struggles they go through, but what about a character who can't see, walk, talk, etc? I just think introducing characters who face those challenges every day would make for a great episode and a great addition to the cast.

I don't know about joining the Mane 6, but maybe an episode based mainly around certain characters?  I'd love to see some with Derpy or maybe even Lyra as well. 

 

EDIT: I just though too, it'd be cool to have a "Just Wonderbolts" episode.

I think this would be good. Right now Spike's the only temporary member, and he still needs more interaction with characters who are not Twilight or Rarity. The sibling episodes are really good, I hope they do more of those. And of course, more Discord/Fluttershy friendship.

 

The Elements of Harmony have passed to different wielders in the show's canon, so it's not out of the question that another pony could take over. (I was a little disappointed Spike didn't do this in RoH.)
