Do we have to wait until WINTER for season 4?

Saw according to Entertainment Weekly that season 4 is coming not this summer but in WINTER (almost a full year after season 3 finale).

Has anyone heard the same from any other source or heard differently?  I would be shocked and dismayed if this was the case as it's the show the sustains the fandom. If we're all trying to stay excited and keep recycling concepts and ideas in music, art, and fanfiction for a full year w/o having anything new to source that magic....well that sounds terrible.

 

I'm not sure how many people remember the short gap between season 2+3 but things get a bit tense in the community as inspirations run dry and people get frustrated. Also i don't see why with 26 episodes coming they can't start sooner, do a few episodes, take a break, do a few more, take a break. Running new episodes week after week actually gives people hardly time to keep up making fan content but with  almost a year off seems like it could really drain the community dry.

But yes, from what I understand its set to air in winter, but there is not yet a confirmed date from start or end so it could be either end of winter.

 

I personally am predicting sometime in November

And that isn't that long. My favorite anime took 4  years to get a season 3.

Well, it is a full 26 episode season. Season 3 I believe took just about as long to make, and it only had 13 episodes. Hopefully, it'll be we'll worth the wait. But I do believe it comes out in Winter

It doesn't seem exceptionally surprising to me.  If I remember correctly, S1 and S2 come out in October (so about a year apart), then it was a little over a year until S3 (wasn't it mid-late November?).  That makes it so that S4 would be coming out maybe 1 1/4 years after the premiere of S3, so maybe slightly longer than the others.

Aaaand yet more people going on and on about how the community runs out of motivation because there's no current episodes for a while. Honestly. Look at things like the Harry Potter fandom. New fan shit comes out for them across all creative spectrums all the time, and guess what, there is zip, nadda, nothing, goose egg amounts of new Harry Potter content coming out. We have the amazing position of having one of the most creative, most talented, and most active communities around. We have not 'dried out' because of season gaps, we've just slowed to a healthy medium, since we're not constantly catching up to the new episodes coming out. And we're not about to start.

 

There is no 'running dry'. The fandom is not just going to wither and die when the show ends, for example. We will slow down a little bit, and then remain consistent in our activity. That's how fandoms work. So stop freaking out and worrying over nothing, enjoy the fandom, and other shows and fandoms in the meantime while we wait for S4.

Yes, and I am just as mad as you! But, the good news is that it is 26 episodes, and this should be the greatest season. Many things are suppose to fall into place, and I cannot wait! (The picture is just a joke, to show my maddness for the long wait.)

This is a question I've been wondering about for a long time. All I need to quell my nerves is a legit source that says when S4 is currently expected to be released. There's that, and also how it will start, which ponies the season's episodes will follow (or not) and lastly how the whole Princess Twilicorn aspect will affect the course of events in the season.

Even though that is quite some time right now, it'll be worth the wait. I'd rather wait for something more than decent to come than have the writers rush and not take the time to make the episodes to their full potential.

My guess as to why it's taking longer than before is that, like most cartoons, there was only supposed to be 65 episodes, which were produced as one big continuous project, but now that the show is major success, Studio B is essentially able to go back to work and make another big chunk of episodes.

Yeah I think we have to wait until winter, because they need time to work on the episodes for Season 4. I don't really care how long it takes as long as we get, the best episodes that they can provide us.

It could possibly be coming out this Novemeber, I haven't seen any confirmations of it coming out in Q1 2014. Maybe we should start paying attention to Season 2 of Littlest Pet Shop, because that'll be coming out around the same time. I wouldn't be surprised if MLP and LPS both premeired on the same day.

 

The reason it's a longer wait than usual is probably because they weren't originally anticipating having a fourth season.

Wow, this will be a long wait, but it will be worth it when it finally arrives.  I'm just happy we will have 26 episodes again, and I'm sure it will be a great season, plus, it will make my least favorite season a little more bearable.  Now, I'm just hoping for some Rarity episodes.
