music Any Coldplay fans here?

Thats a bit odd when you think about it but completely understandable.

As for Radiohead I think we can all agree this is one absolute gem of a song.

Well, the music I like tends to be the polar opposite of what Coldplay is.

Speaking of Radiohead, I really like Pablo Honey. People seem to bash it all the time though :/

I actually enjoy Pablo Honey, it is odd the amount of bashing it gets though.

It never seems quite right if you ask me personally.

I'm not a hardcore Coldplay fan. But there are some songs I enjoy;

Clocks

Viva La Vida

Paradise

And a few more, but those are the ones I enjoy most.

I think Coldplay is a pretty decent group, and one of the relatively few artists from the past decade that has consistently made songs that I like. I have many of their singles in my library (my preference is to stick to singles rather than albums for the most part), including but not limited to:

Yellow

Trouble

In My Place

Clocks

The Scientist

Speed Of Sound

Talk

Viva La Vida

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

Paradise

I'm a bit of a Coldplay fan myself "Talk" is probably one of my favorite songs by them. I think the lyrics are really great in that song.

I also love "lovers in japan" and "life in technicolor" :)

As much as that Radiohead song is a legendary one, if you ask me it's not that good sounding compared to some of their other stuff, yes I am one of those Radiohead fans who would put on something from Kid A or Amnesiac, rather than one from Pablo Honey.

But yeah anyways all of you Coldplay fans, have the only song by them that I think is half decent

Completely understandable.

We all have to have our different tastes after all.

I'm only lightly versed in radiohead, been meaning to check them out more.

When Yellow came out, I thought it was ok, but nothing all that special.  I really liked The Scientist when I first heard it, so I picked up A Rush of Blood to the Head.  I've probably only heard about 20% of their collection, but from what I have heard, my favorite is the title track from that album.

To me, a huge part of their appeal is their ability to be simultaneous melancholy yet strangely uplifting.  Anyways, I always thought this song was stark and achingly beautiful.

My obsession with specific albums cycles; right now I'm back at Monster. Last one was Green. I have 181 REM songs in my iTunes library. img-1372395-2-biggrin.png

Oh, I've heard it! Grew up listening to this stuff but only started to appreciate a couple years ago! Then they split before I got a chance to see them live. :/

Bout you?

Never saw them live either. sad.png Fairly recent fan, got hooked a few years ago. Grew up listening to Out of Time a lot, should've seen my face when I finally looked up the lyrics to Country Feedback, that was awkward...

From there, I discovered Radiohead, now I'm getting into Pixies.

I wouldn't say the only one. I definitely like it.

Since the way the song is, it really lends itself well to being acoustic.

Not to many songs can go back and forth like that.

Yay! I'm not the only one! I really like the acoustic version. It is so relaxing and nice and pretty (sorry for run-on sentence). But I also like the normal version for its rock-like sound. And I love that bass.

I've always been a fan of Coldplay, yes, for more than eight years. Perhaps not the greatest band ever, but I think the band members are caring and kind people, and I love a lot of their older stuff.

I saw them in Montreal this summer, so a few of the songs are on the live disc from there. It was beautiful and crazy. Everyone got a light-up wristband and it was just flashing colours everywhere. They dropped beach balls, there was about eight confetti cannons...yeah, it was chaos. Beautiful, wild, colourful chaos. XD

My favourite song? Too hard to choose...

EDIT: I think I may have to say my favourite songs are "Strawberry Swing" and "A Rush of Blood to The Head". And possibly "Green Eyes" and "A Message" and "Swallowed in the Sea".

X&Y was best album overall.

A Message is pretty good too. Your lucky you got to see them. I'm sure it was beautiful. I like Viva la Vida or Death and all his Friends the most.

The reason why Pablo Honey gets bashed all of the time is really obvious, seeming towards how much of an average album it was. As for me I think that Pablo Honey is alright, it's average but not terrible, it still is listenable. Though it is weak compared to the other things that Radiohead have done in the days after that album. As for my personal favorite Radiohead album, that would have to be Kid A with Amnesiac in a close second.

I'm a big Coldplay fan! My favourite album by Coldplay would be Viva la Vida! Their best songs would be Viva la Vida and Lovers in Japan/ Reign of Love :)

Same here. Viva la Vida is an awesome song, one of my favorites, as is Lover's in Japan/Reign of love. I love that album. Cemeteries of London is an awesome song as well.

I love Radiohead, REM, and U2 too but I'll always like Coldplay especially as they came to be when i was around instead of me discovering them afterwards when they got their career established. When you've met the band, seen them in front row several times, collectied their swag, shared them with a wife, and had some amazing memories, then they are close to your heart. It's nice to see a band start where everyone does (small) and really earn their spot through hard work and great music.

I got into the band the most during the AROBTTH era (PArachutes seemed a little too soft)  but Viva is my favorite album. Never really liked X+Y but Viva was all about redemption and getting it right when they could have faded and disappeared up their arses. My son listens to Myo Xyloto every night so that's his happy place. I can't really listen to them the same way anymore but i won't discard how much i loved their music.

This was kind of my ultimate list chronicalling their rise and my feelings.

When you try your best but you don't succeed

When you get what you want but not what you

need

When you feel so tired but you can't sleep

Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face

When you lose something you can't replace

When you love someone but it goes to waste

Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home

And ignite your bones

And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below

When you're too in love to let it go

But if you never try you'll never know

Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home

And ignite your bones

And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down your face

When you lose something you cannot replace

Tears stream down your face

And I

Tears stream down your face

I promise you I will learn from my mistakes

Tears stream down your face

And I

Lights will guide you home

And ignite your bones

And I will try to fix you

I love that song so much. It is one of my favorites and is a beautiful song. Thanks you for posting the lyrics to this wonderful and beautiful song.

Eh I'm not really a fan exactly, but I do enjoy some of their music, maybe I'll get into more of their music, I've really only heard a few. But sometimes listening to some more of a bands music gets me a little more into them :)

If you tell me what kind of music you like, I can recommend some Coldplay songs you may like.

What song would that be anyway? Hopefully they come to where you live. I guess I'll post some lyrics to another good song by Coldplay.
