Are you supposed to be working?

I've been browsing through the forums a lot today while I was supposed to be doing work and I was wondering if anypony else was procrastinating or maybe if they have the same sort of attention span when working next to a computer.

I know it's hard for me to avoid such a great website when working!

Nope, I try to do all my homework and or other work-related things before I go on the computer. The only time I would ever go on the computer before using it for my spare time is when I am typing a word document or slideshow for school. At times when I'm sick I will step away and maybe read a book. When I have free time in the summer or other holidays I then spend more time on the computer browsing the internet, and playing games more often.

I do procrastinate to at times buddy!

But not all the time, I know work comes first, and must be accomplished for to be rewarded and praised.

I only procrastinate when the work I'm doing is either too easy or too pointless to do.

Yes. I am supposed to be doing english work right now, but I am going to have summer school for it so i may as well goof off here. I would be working if I had more time to finish outside of summer school though xP.

Every friggin' day, bro, you don't even know. This job is so dreadfully boring and soul-sucking, I'd go positively insane if I didn't have this place and YouTube to keep my spirits relatively high. Yeah, I know. I'm a slacker...but I get all my work done, so at the end of the day, I don't give a DAY-um.

I feel ya man. Because so many people in my school are slackers I don't get to do other things even after I'm done. so the only time i stop working is when i choose to be done now :/

Sort of.

The things I'm "working on" are pieces of digital art of various levels of dubiousness in how they might get me a job in the computer graphics industry. Otherwise I'm just waiting on an opportunity for working with my brother.

One of which is a vectored picture of Big Macintosh and another being an entry for the Poniverse Logo Competition.

Today is actually a day for me to have completely off. It's been the first in ages... I could have said I would work tonight, but I needed a short summer vacation.

Nah, I like making money at my job and being able to spend money on the things I want/need. I work for minimum wage ($9.19/hr) and the job I do isn't particularly difficult so I might as well be using my time to make money.

Well, I kind of am-I work security and I'm at the desk waiting for either phone calls or visitors. Once the building is checked and the alarms are set, that's basically the job. So i'm here.

I'd love to spend my slow moments at work by browsing the forums but I don't dare.  Coworkers are always walking around and take notice if there is anything BUT work on your computer screen.  The closest I come to forum participation at work is composing detailed articles on Word which is inconspicuous.  Even then, I give the ponies pseudonyms to be on the safe side:

Twilight Sparke - Tara (fittingly)

Applejack - Asleigh (fitting again)

Fluttershy - Felecia

Pinkie Pie - Pollie

Rainbow Dash - Randi

Rarity - Ray

Then I just change the names when I get home and post it. ;)

They really need to make a "safe for work" mode which has generic looking grey forums with no avatars or images showing (unless clicked on).

Every... Single... Day...

I've watched so much TV, all the shows start to run together. I swear I saw Homicide: Life on Sesame Street last shift...

When my 3DS or phone games bore me, I hit the forums.

When I'm supposed to be doing NIMS training, I'll hit the forums.

Time to do QA? I say time for a pony fix.

Or I sleep, I do a lot of that.

But when you gotta spend 16 hours waiting for people to get hurt or croak, you gotta do something with your time.

Bro... same here! Although I actually like my job a lot, there's just not much to do once you've completed all your tasks, save for wait for folks with computer or network issues to come to you to solve them.

I'm a horrible procrastinator so I'm constantly doing pony related things instead of school work. I have finals next week and a project due tomorrow night, but I choose ponies.

Most of my school work requires me to spend long periods of time on the computer. As a result, it takes forever for me to do anything because I find something more interesting. I'm a hard worker, but I get distracted easily :P

You chose wisely...

*Sees Twilight Sparkle staring at me angrily*

Oh, I mean, dude, ponies are always nice, but you've gotta make room for your work! Look, I find myself diving into ponies a lot when I should be doing something productive as well, but I still make plenty of time to get work done and make room for things that matter in life. You just gotta shove the ponies away to get the work done. Or maybe you could combine the two... why not listen to music from the show or listen to fan music while you work on stuff? That works for me!

blink.png  Oh Celestia what have I done! I didn't mean to anger Twilight. You're right I'm going to get off this site right now and finish all my work and I'll even do the extra credit. Thank you fine sir, for righting my wrong.

*sees Twilight still staring angrily*

Oh...and of course thank you, too, Twilight.

*Twilight smiles approvingly*

I'm stuck somewhere between procrastinating and working. I've been switching between Firefox tabs and excel spreadsheets since the morning

I guess I need to focus on the numbers more

Tech support, eh? My good friend/guitarist in my band works tech support for an ISP, and from the horror stories he's told me...just when you think you've spoken with the dumbest customer on Earth, you are given someone even dumber within minutes.

As much as I hate my job...I can't say I envy you guys. wacko.png

Yep... well, I'm an IT guy for a place, and it's not nearly as bad as he's had to deal with I'm sure, but it's still pretty bad. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a very tolerating guy so I deal with any kind of supposed stupid issues people have, but I've had folks come to me and say "Windows looks weird" only to discover it's because they were on an Apple PC running OS X, or told me their computer was messing up when there was just their binder sitting on top of the tab key.

Regardless... you may not envy us, but we do our solemn duty to support people with tech problems everywhere. Even if it kills us!

I find myself coming to this site and others like YouTube a lot when I'm supposed to be doing something else.  This site can be so addictive, I've gotta stop myself and say I can reward myself by coming to this site and others when I complete what ever I'm supposed to do.  Sometimes, that can be easier said than done laugh.png .
