Also, FlutterDash isn't real, because if you look at the frames individually, you'll see it was nothing. No one at Hasbro would ever, ever confirm it, even if it was real.

Really? I never noticed that, Maybe I have to rewatch that episode. Perhabs its because I don't rewatch it much because I hated how they redeemed Discord(Would loved if they had a villain beat him up and made him lose his pride like vegeta did)

If they came true... then they need a lot more voice actors. I don't know how to react to that. There would probably be a lot of negative reviews because MLP doesn't really focus on love. It focuses on FRIENDSHIP.

I think I could be selfish enough to go all "NOOO but now it won't fit with my favourite shipping!" (*quoting Dashabel*) if some of the popular fan shippings - like AppleDash - would became canon. But then again, it's not that I would be forced to let go of my own shippings, since it's all about entertainment after all, no matter how fiery passion you'd love your OTP with. I mean, no one should bash you for having fun, right? Plus, there still would be people who'd be really happy if they made it canon, and that would be enough of a reason to tolerate the idea.

 

Personally, I'd really like to see a homosexual couple in MLP (as for the fan shipping thing, to me it would most likely be Lyra and Bon Bon, but that's just my preference. However, I'd still prefer creating brand new characters for that purpose). Maybe not involving the mane six in the way of one of them being in the relationship, since to me they reflect the show's message of friendship at it's strongest. Also, I'm not going to appeal to the equality thing, as if the show has it's heterosexual relationships, it MUST deal with homosexuality, too. Like, it's not that it would be different kind of love or anything. In that perspective, it would be just adding more lovey dovey things to a show which already has them, which I don't find so necessary.

 

But like it has already been stated in this topic, it's already freaking 2013 and kids are still raised by telling them that homosexuality is wrong. I don't mean only parents, but also other sources of learning about life. I'm not telling you that EVERY cartoon should deal with homosexuality, but in my opinion, MLP has potential to do it. Well, it already encourages people to be themselves, and because of that, I think it's totally ok to not have a single non-hetero couple in the show. But it certainly doesn't stop me thinking there could be some.

 

But after all, I'm not too fond of the idea of making a fan-made shipping canon, or at least some involving a mane six character/characters because I just like them as, you know, fan things. It would also definitely cause a poopstorm like no other. Still, if the creators decided to give a that kind of chance to a fan-made shipping, I'd be ok with it.

 

I don't really think this improved the discussion at all but I felt like stating my opinion.    I also hope it wasn't too off topic (or messy because of my somewhat poor English).

People seem to like AppleDash a lot... but I think it's just because they are both tomboys/tough/Brony attractors. 

 

IF a ship were to ever occur, it would be Princess Bubblegum and Marcili- I mean, Pinkie and Fluttershy. It would be easier because they could say "well Pinkie's crazy anyway" and "Fluttershy needs/wants someone to take care of her/be with". Sounds kind of lame, but that's how it is.

Well i am almost positive the fan shippings won't become cannon, seeing as they really have hardly had any love, much less lesbian love or anything between the mane 6.

 

Not that I personally have a problem, but i feel it might get conflicts from the younger fans parents and stuff. Plus i'll be honest while its cute in fanfics it would feel a bit weird in actual cannon. Maybe its just me though,

Well it depends on which characters that is involved. I do not want any of the mane 6 to be shipped with each other since that would just make everything with the show weird. Even though I think Apple Pie is adorable (and yummy ahh I want apple pie :v )

If you want to see what will happen if you allowed shipping in this children's cartoon in terms of homosexuality, I suggest you look up the MASSIVE outcry against Paranorman. And that was only 1 sentance.

 

The fact is this: Children's shows should NOT be used for a political/moral stand. Period. It should not teach about homosexuality just as it should not teach about sex. That is for the parents to teach their kids. I know people want the world to accept homosexuality and whatnot, but it doesn't need to be taught in children's shows. Kids already don't have an issue about it to begin with as they don't even get the whole deal at the age-range this show is geared towards.

I am a FlutterDash supporter, all the way. They are two of my favourite ponies, and their personalities would balance each other out nicely. And Balance leads to Harmony in relationships.

 

But sadly, making any Mane 6 shipping canon would just cause a massive uproar. Mind, FlutterDash is one of the most supported shippings as far as I've seen, but Dashie is involved in so many pairings, it would be particularly controversial, as opposed to some of the other shippings. Simply put, I don't think any Mane 6 shipping would go well as a canon, except for maybe Sparity, which is pretty much canon anyway.

 

My current hope is that, in the series finale, whenever that comes, we'll see FlutterDash come more out into the open. Since it would be the end of the series, Hasbro could take risks with the plot and such, as everypony would want to see it no matter what. But I don't think they would risk it before that point. The show just brings in too much dough, and the crew wants to make a lasting story. A canon shipping would rock the fandom, and a homosexual shipping would turn off many parents. A canon homosexual shipping would do both of these things, pretty much ending the show right there. So, I'd love a canon FlutterDash, but if it happens at all, it won't happen until the very end.

ahem, i think a good 45-65 percent of the fan base will bluff, threaten to leave get butt hurt an spam angry threads much like they did about alicorn twilight, than shut up and go back to watching the show.

 

And not from just fan shipping, any shipping's.  Maybe the writers have considered paring off characters with someone else on the show and it's presumptuous to assume the fans had to put that in their mind.

 

It can be handled well and it wouldn't take much look at kim possible.  A relationship on the show can be a small back ground matter.  I'm not going to touch lesbianism because you don't see homo sexuality in the majority of kids shows in America.  If this were an Anime,

which it's not,

they already likely would have joked at that already.

 

Now this is a huge irony I want people to consider.  I think fans are worried about one of the main six getting saddled to a guy because,

it might imply she needs someone else, and makes them a less dynamic character.

I like the idea simply put because it would give a male character some importance.  I mean seriously the only important male character on the show (besides spike) is shinning armor. 
He doesn't ruin cadence.

I would love to see Vinyl and Octavia become a canon couple. They've always been my favorite mlp shipping. Reading the fic "University days" just made me like this couple even more!
 

If if did become true, which it won't, I would probably get pretty damn excited as my favorite shipping just became canon.
