Quite a simple one. If you went to sleep and woke up the next morning feeling different, would you rather look in the mirror to see that you have wings or fins?

Me? I'd rather have fins. I'm pretty scared of heights and I'd probably be useless at flying, but fins would be something I could use well.

What about you?

P.S. Of course, you can have neither, if you'd rather stay 'normal'.

I have a fear of heights but I also have a severe fear of drowning or most water, so I'm going with wings.

Despite having a fear of heights, I also wanted to go sky diving.

I'll take wings. I'd rather have the feeling of flying high, instead of swimming in the water. Swimming requires more work and in flying, the work is only gaining height.

I would think fins would feel really weird... But then again, so too would wings! I guess I would go with wings, even if I never used them they would look rather cool aesthetically.

I'd prefer wings... Out of all animals, I actually like birds the most, the bald eagle being my most favourite animal... I also like how you somehow gain freedom out of a generally 2-dimensional flat plane in which we walk or move about in. Well, at least one can get to be airborne with wings, without the aid of external machinery...

And also, I find birds really cute... Somehow... <3  :muffins:

I went paragliding in the Alps this summer, and I can safely say it was one of the best experiences of my life. So I have to go with wings by default. Plus if I grew fins, there's a 99.5% chance of me adopting the name Shark Boy (shudder) :)

Wings, there's nothing better than flying. I'd love to soar through the skies and letting myself free-fall while not giving a damn about the rest of the world. Plus, the sky is a far bigger sea.

Actually, the sea has a mass of 1.4 x 10 to 21st power, while the atmosphere has a mass of 5 x 10 to the 18th power. So the sea is approximately 300 times more massive than the sky is. And has much more life.

That may be so, but the air is much less dense than the sea, due to it being a gas, giving it a much larger apparent size.

I'm also assuming those masses are in kg.

Also, the OP says "fins." Just fins. It never said gills. Based off of this and the larger use of wings in our society (we don't exactly have any settlements underwater, after all), I'm opting for the wings.

I'd rather have wings, even though I don't like to be too high off the ground and not to mention all the planes flying about(or birds)...  I probably wouldn't go that high though, I'd probably just stay a little off the ground or glide.

I was going to go with fins since I personally love swimming and breathing underwater would definitely add to the awesomeness that would insure. But then I thought about sharks. I'd be freaking scared if I had to run into any sharks or other deep sea predators. Plus the ocean has other little dangers too, like pressure differences, volcanic vents, pollution, etc..

So wings would be a lot better, it's way less crowded and dangerous than the ocean, plus I'd get to see the whole world beneath me, rather then see just see the world above me, if that make's sense. :P

It would be a lot more fun to fly with wings now that I think about it! ^_^

I would certainly go with wings, and become the squishiest superhero to ever live. I would die almost immediately to some dastardly criminal. After I die however, I would go down in legend as WINGMAN - the worst superhero to ever live (worse than aquaman).

I don't like swimming either.

Let's not forget that the sea is mostly liquids while the sky is mostly gas. Meaning that gas is far, far wider spread than the sea is. I'm not talking about the mass of the sky or sea, I'm talking about the volume it occupies.

I could get from point A to point B not only faster, but by flying over the land, shortening the distance considerably. Besides, didn't you know that flying is the safest way to travel?

I would have fins, since then I can realize my "last two minutes of my life's" dream and meet the sea ponies. We'd sing the Shoop-be-doop song together.

Shoop-be-doop song... noooooooo!!! D:

The theme song was so scary with these ponies, omg

Look at this :/

So I guess I'll take the wings lol.

Although my favorite animal is a shark (a dragon is my favorite fictional animal), I would totally take wings for obvious reasons. I don't have a large body of water like the ocean nearby as much as the sky is available.

Wings.  Hands down.  No context.  Zero second thoughts.  Wouldn't change my mind.  Can't conceive of the otherwise.

Although flying is a lot of work.  You'd need some pretty terrific stamina and endurance to muster the energy to constantly pump those wings, unless you're lucky enough to find a decent thermal.

I'm actually operating under the assumption that if fins were chosen, a dramatically increased duration for "breathing" would be enacted as well.  Wouldn't really make sense for the purposes of this thread otherwise.

Wings are the obvious answer for me. I'd rather fly than swim in all honesty. All sorts of scary creatures live in water, so there is a reason why I wouldn't fins. The only threat I would have to worry about in the air as far as I can tell are planes. Other than that, it's peaceful up there in the sky.

Although the sky has much better visibility, there's nothing to see that interests me, and you can't stop in mid-flight without falling (unless the deal includes hovering). The ocean has lots of interesting things to see and explore, and tons of place to rest and hide.

I'll choose fins, as long as underwater breathing and eyes that can see through murky water are included.

I love the ocean and marine animals, which is a bit weird since I'm a really bad swimmer. I suppose that's the point of wanting fins: so I can actually go swim without having to worry about being clumsy and/or drowning.

I do have a certain fear of heights, which is a problem even in water; imagine floating around in very deep water with the bottom of the ocean being so far down that you can't even see it.
