NOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ahem. I mean, that's not really my thing. Male characters turning into female characters is kind of interesting, but it doesn't grab me the other way around, for whatever reason. I also notice that most of the Mane 6 look entirely wrong as colts. :P

Considering I've been lining up several rule 63 fanfics to read I'd say yes, I am okay with it. Something about the awkwardness of characters having to deal with the fact they've been switched genders or have met switched gender versions of themselves sounds hilarious to me.

But I don't know, with the Mane Six I've seen a lot of art, read a few fanfics, and most of all, seen a lot of the

. All of these mediums actually try to give the characters the proper male personality of the female ones we all know and love. Something I'd expect from this great fandom, anyway. So I guess I'm perfectly fine with it, seeing as how they aren't just an excuse to sexualize the character, like what Rule 63 is used for almost exclusively in other fandoms. I like all the designs of the characters in male form, I like all the name choices, and I think it's rather interesting to see what kind of situations the characters are put into in art and fan fiction.

I edited my original post back at the end of page five to include something else besides art and fanfics that have greatly inspired me to actually take a liking to the colt versions of the Mane Six. And that's the cover voice acting for the colt Mane Six I've found all over Youtube. This one guy in-particular, philsterman10, does a fantastic job at all six of their voices. It's an example of his work that my quoted post leads to. Here are some other examples of his direct works, or pieces he's had his voice used in:

Song Duets:

-

-

-

Scene Readings:

-What I linked to in my original post. If you still haven't checked it out, now would be a good time to ;)

-

These are all quality works, I mean christ, I'd be fine with this guy's voices being used if Hasbro ever decided to have a dimensional episode where the Mane Six meet their male counterparts.

I feel like a lot of people throw out the idea of Rule 63 in this particular fandom because of specific distasteful art or fanfics they've seen, or because they've had bad experiences with the rule in past fandoms. Trust me, I'm with you on that, like my first post mentions, Rule 63 has been nothing but crap in other fandoms, and I don't doubt there's a lot of badly done Rule 63 in this fandom as well. But I'm finding this rule to open up a lot of creativity in this fandom if you look at the high-quality stuff like I've linked to above, and in my first post, and I think more people should give it a chance.

Rule 63- eh, I don't mind :)

*looks at picy* They look cool humanized and dudes- they actually look like straight men but as ponies I don't think it matches them. I think most people make them look gay and still girly like they originally were(RD: what did you say??? Me: *backs away* heh, not that you, Applejack, Twi, and Fluttershy are that girly...)

I like r63 but more on female ponies so that they turn male :3

One thing I'm wondering is tough why do ppl call the genderbend mane6 colts?

They are grown ups so they technically are stallions.

Colt/ stallion and filly/mare are interchangeable in this fandom. They aren't used by age discrepancy. Babies are called colts or fillies but adults can be referred to as either one.

I don't really like Humanization. As for the r34, the male Applejack looks very decent and so does RD. But the other ponies seem a bit too feminine for my taste. The hairstyle and the colors just don't fit for a guy. Although I love wearing pink... But... just no! :D

foals: young ponies of either gender

colt: young male ponies

fillies: young female ponies

mares: adult female ponies

stallions: adult male ponies

I usually use the terms how they should be used.

Irl you don't call an adult noy or girl either.

But is this thread not actually more about r63.

I just don't want to be offtopic or anything.

Actually, I think R63 ponies are pretty cool. I thought the characters in the picture at the start of the thread were well done and reflected well. I don't have a problem with the concept at all, and consider it a great form of entertainment or amusement.

What I don't understand is why some people get so ridiculously touchy about the subject. It's just a genderswap, if you dislike it no need to unleash the power of human-anonymous-comment-wrath on the artist.

Just saying from what I've seen myself.

I think it's interesting that twice as many people are okay with it than not, but it seems like a majority of the comments in this thread are against. Is there some internet rule where you -need- to comment on something if you hate it? Would explain Youtube, I suppose :3

Nah, I totally don't have a Blitz avatar, and I totally don't love the R63 Mane Six.

Also, OP, honestly I feel like the image and description you gave, gave off the wrong impression for a lot of people. Some random artist-specific human male rendition of the ponies isn't the first thing you want to show someone who's on the fence about R63, or who isn't even sure what's going on and wants to learn more. Since this is our only generic discussion topic for this idea, you want to show them the widely-accepted, normal pony forms of the R63 Mane Six, which have now been shown a few times in the thread by others and myself. I mean, I love the R63 Mane Six, but even I don't care for the OP's image xD It's not too different from if someone who's never seen MLP before wants to see what the characters look like, and instead of showing them the actual ponies, you show them Equestria Girls' version. I've edited it.

I've also hidden a few posts that directly quoted the original image content, or replied to replies of it, and related instances, as to avoid confusion for new folks viewing the thread in the future. If you're confused why you got one or a few posts hidden, it's just thread maintenance.

I don't mind it. It's kind of odd, though, that I don't really like it that much considering that I usually love genderswaps (and the genderbender genre). Maybe it's just the pony aspect; it just doesn't seem to work as well as other swaps such as Kyonko and Haruki (Haruhiko) and co.

Eeyup, without them, the My Little Pony cosplay choices for men would be very limited. Also, it would be awesome to have a canon rule 63 episode of MLP (besides the one where Twi "transformed" AJ into a stallion)!

I am neutral on it, I am not wild about it but I don't really hate it either. If there is an interesting fanfic or something that has it I will read it but I don't seek it out. I chalk up rule 63 to fans are going to do what fans are going to do,

I'm fine with the idea. I wouldn't mind a crossover/alternate universe episode similar to On a Cross and Arrow, provided it was done well and they took it in an interesting direction. I don't like the male designs/names nearly as much as the female ones, but they're made well enough.

For those that are unaware, Trotsworth, the artist who originally created the widely-accepted character designs for the Mane Six in their R63 forms (based off the popular fanfic 'On A Cross and Arrow'), is doing a comic about the show, in R63 form. Lots of awesome humor, and of course, great art. Should definitely check it out.

Page one, and all the consequential pages afterwords are linked in the artist description.

Here's the newly released page four, as it's one of the trademark scenes of the first episode, and has BUBBLE BERRY WHO IS BEST STALLION OMFGBBQ :3

Rather simple, what are your thoughts on the ponies as their opposite genders? The Mane Six as boys/colts, and even Spike as a girl?

img-160736-1-tumblr_m1yzi4w6pF1rn652z.pn

I don't care. It doesn't bother me either way.

I will say though, that R63'd Rarity is terrible. We could've done so much better.

And Twily's mane is...awkward. It makes me think of those plushies Hasbro sells. I don't like those things.
