¿does anthro art make MLP looks bad or good?

Hi! everypony i was wondering... i see in Deviantart all characters in human features, exagered bodytypes and simple cute looking types, you think that antro art is out of the theme? or is just exagerated fanwork? or a simple diferent view point? i admit i see some grotesque drawins of the characters and at the same time i look cute work of art

what do you think?

A style of art is neither "good" or "bad."

It depends on the individual piece of artwork to actually judge. Something made in MS paint in 1 minute is not going to look good, such as an adorable picture of Twilight Sparkle drawn in SAI that takes over 3 hours.

Fanarts reflect the fanbase, not the show. As with any other artwork it says more of the artist than it does the show. You know when you watch interviews and such for a movie or TV show and they always say "These are the thoughts and opinions of each individual and do not reflect the views of the company as a whole" or somesuch? Same deal here. Even if the creators of MLP liked anthro stuff they do not put it into the show and thus it does not reflect the show in any way, shape or form.

Seems most has been said.

It doesn't reflect on anyone really except the artist themselves.

Its not all bad either. And in many cases its kinda good as it gives people the shot at ideas for cosplay that doesn't involve excessive fur suit making :P

Its also kind of expected, as it'll be seen from anything.

I mean, they have humanized GlaDOS after all, and she was just a giant computer!

Hell, seen a few companion cubes too..

As long as it isn't the nightmare inducing promotional designs for Equestria Girls than I'm fine with the style and in some cases find it to look quite nice actually. But other times ugh the horror the horror.

Also it depends on the person's style and how well they are at drawing that matters really.

I think it's just plain weird.

If you want to draw a cute-looking human person, then do that. If you're absolutely obsessed about MLP, draw ponies. Where do the inbetweens get you...?

This applies to Equestria Girls too. If they wanted to start a seperate franchise about high school girls, that's fine by me...

I really like anthro pony artwork, I don't understand why a lot of people cringe over it. A lot of the time I actually prefer anthro ponies over normal ponies.

In the art-verse, I don't think there is a straight good good or bad opinion.

I kinda like the human MLP character, and I like Ponies.

However, I'm a bit rough with the half-breeds. I don't hate them. If they are done in a specific way, I like them.

warning: it's a bit big

It doesn't make MLP look good or bad. It's just a style of art. A style of art I like for the most part. You can draw the ponies however you like. If you want to draw them as anthros or humans, go right ahead. If you want to draw them as ponies, then do it. It shouldn't matter at all, but there are those that say you have to draw them as ponies and nothing else. To those people, I say they are ignorant and close minded. -_-

All my yes in this post.

When it comes to looking at a piece of art, or someone else; our opinion of what we think their exterior is to us is completely subjective to only you. Art can't be seen in black and white when you look at it from a critical stand point. There are too many things that each and every other person may like or dislike about it.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it is bad artwork for example. It's just not your taste =/. Same goes for music, and any other kind of artform.

Pretty much everything that could be said here has been said. It all depends on the quality of the artwork and the tastes of those looking at it.

I enjoy ponies.

Hell I've been enjoying anthro-artwork in some way or shape since I was 4.

Well i agree that EQGirls was way off-topic for Hasbro so thats a huge reason for all the drama (and problems with it making sense within an mlp storyline). Its actually mostly colored humanization then real anthro in my book. But to blame the fanart community for doing anthro is just silly. We are human, ponies are intelligent ponies. At some point artists begin combining the two. In fact some of our best artists are anthro artists. In the end its not far off from furries doing the same and helps connect us to other much large fanbases out there.

So long as the artist adapts it into their own style I’m fine with it. Typically I dislike it when they just take the MLP heads and slap it onto a human body and call it a day, it looks pretty ugly(especially if it’s those 3D renders). On the other hand some of my favorite artwork and artists are anthro

It really depends on the art itself. In some cases antho art can look stunning, but in others it can be the complete opposite.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

As a lot of users mentioned, it's really all about the art style. Artists like Longinious are phenomenal at anthro. Take a look at this one right here for example:
