What other animal types might fit in Equestria?

Tried searching for this, but apparently I'm more original than I thought.

 

So from what we see in the show, 99% of the talking, "humanlike" characters are ponies. But there are some exceptions; Griffins, cows, minotaurs, dragons, sheep, one zebra, and probably several kinds I'm forgetting.

 

That's not every four-legged, medium-sized animal under the sun, though. I'm kind of interested what ideas you all might have in that regard; both based on existing animals form Earth, and even other beasts out of mythology (ie, pegasi, unicorns!) Furthermore, how would you see the personality types being different? Might someone even make an OC that's based off some animal other than a pony? Maybe a giraffe...?

Maybe we could have some lions or tigers in the land of Equestria, that could be something that's pretty spectacular to see in the show.

I'm yet to see any deer (or maybe I'm mistaken) That would seem like a animal that would fit in with the other four legged creatures. Maybe moose and stuff would be additions too. (I think they MAY already be there, I might just not be remembering)

I wonder if deer and moose could use their antlers like tentacles. Would that be too freaky?

They have powerful necks to support the tentacles...kinda makes sense to me.

Hmmm, but what other animals. Well the show has mythological types in. How about a race of sphinx? Lion Bodies and a human head. sounds like it would fit right in.

To be honest, I'd like to know more about the creatures that already are in the show first, but I'd like to see prehistoric ponies. And maybe llamas. Hyenas, as something funny.

Well, baring a few exceptions, anything with hooves seems to have human-level intelligence and we now have a viable desert location thanks to the Saddle-Arabian ponies so...why not camels? Lauren also said at one point she had an idea for "Viking Caribou", which I can't be the only person who would want to see that!

 

I would actually like to see some of the fauna of the icy areas around the Crystal Empire, like literal Ice wolves perhaps.

Well a while back if anyone remember the owls  Gaudians of Caholeo? something i remember thinking "someone put alot thought" into that world just from peaking at the preview.

 

I think they could been a speaking race, i think it would fit but they'd have to do some kind of nibbler thing where owlishes was spying on twilight.

I mean that's not impossible.  He does show up out of the blue suspiciously.

Any animal could be in Equestria. Really it's a fantasy world so anything from mythology or real life animals could be there. I'd like to see something like Camels in Saddle Arabia or however you spell that.

 

Seems to me they'd be low tier in society just like the Donkeys.

On the map in the comic there's: "Elephant sightings reported" Maybe elephants can be a mythological animal in their universe and then they meet some.

It's kinda hard to say really. It's a little inconsistent with animal intelligence  Diamond dogs possessing speech but being kinda dumb. Buffalo forming tribes and having the same cognitive functions of ponies then winona being a pet, tank being a pet, Angel who is obviously smarter than most animals but seemingly can't speak. It seems kinda random whats an animal and whats a more intelligent form of life. I can see giraffes being a thing cuz after all they already did do Zebras

Hoofed animals are all sapient and can talk. Also many mythologicals. I guess the diamond dogs qualify because they're something totally new.

Pets seems unusually intelligent, I guess it's kind of like the way kids think of their pets.

Various cats appear in "Read It and Weep", I'd actually be surprised if Ahuizotal actually exists. I'd also like it if some kind of earth dragons exist too, big ones that sleep so long they're mistaken for mountains until they start moving.

There are definitely white tailed deer, considering the name of the area in Fall Weather Friends. It would be pretty adorable if the CMC make friends with a young deer

Hippogriff is one thing that could exist in some country somewhere or may be not very common in Equistria, like gryphons.  There may be more in other parts of that world and maybe even other parts of the continents where Equistria is, or other continents, unless that world is a 1 continent world.

I feel like sphinxes, deer, and almost DEFFINITELY moose. I also feel like camels may be intelligent like said before, just about anything with hooves. Not sure why that seems so reasonable, but it just does.
