Have you or anyone you know been in a auto accident?

I've never been in anything significant. One time a friend was taking me home and we got rear-ended. It was extremely minor, but I can see how it could be bad if it were even slightly worse because it really jerked me, even though it was so minor.

My parents have been in more significant car accidents, but thankfully nothing too bad.

Once as a kid. Someone slid out in front of us on an icy road and we T-boned them. Luckily nobody was hurt.

One of my friends in high school swerved to avoid hitting a deer and ended up crashing into a tree. He totaled his car and ended up in the hospital for a week.

A few years ago it started snowing when I was about 10 miles from my house. It seemed really light and wasn't sticking to the road, so I just kept going at a pace of about 60 mph. Turns out that the snow was only so light because I was in the shadow of the mountain. I round the curve and find about 6 inches of snow on the road. I had near bald tires at the time. Wound up spinning out and rolling it into a ditch. Luckily I walked away with just a few bruises and cuts, the worst of which only needed 10 stitches.

I slow it down around curves in bad weather now.

I had 3 close calls of rear-ending someone else's car on the freeway. The only real damage I made was bumping the rear corner of a parked car while pulling into a parking spacing. Thankfully no one was hurt. Just the cars slightly which were insured.

I was in two accidents, one was not my fault (somebody hit me while I stopped on a stop sign) but the other was my fault (I hit a parking car). But it was never more than some small scratches. But a friend of me died in a accident with his motorbike a few years ago. I know also other people who had accidents, but luckily always only car body damage.

My brother was totaled on Halloween morning 2017. He was stopped at an intersection, waiting to make a turn when he got rear-ended by a van going 50 mph (the speed limit for that road). His car was thrown twenty feet and into a ditch where it wrapped around a tree. Miraculously there were no serious injuries to either party; and my brother had only some minor cuts and bruises, and a small fracture in his neck. He was able to return to work a few days later. I was notified about it at work because he wasn’t able to think of any other phone numbers in his condition immediately following the accident, and I think I was more upset than he was. It was scary, really scary.

Twice. New years day 2005. There was freezing rain and our car ended up sliding off the road and into a ditch half a mile from our house.

The second time was in 2011 or '12. The inexperienced driver I was attempted to pass a stopped line of cars on the shoulder. Cars that were apparently stopped for a group of bicyclists crossing the road. Except they weren't crossing at the time so we had right of way. So I decided to try and pass them. My mom was telling me to stop right was i was angling to go around then *BAM* we get rear ended. Car hits me. I hit car in front of us. Car up front ends up speeding away. One less issue for the insurance claim I guess.

Though my mistake turned out to be a brilliant stroke of luck, for had we been lined up with the other cars, the damage could've been much worse. But since I was trying to pass, when I got hit I ended up hitting at an angle, which minimized the damage and prevented injury. And yes, the insurance company foudn that we weren't at fault.

Don't know if this third one counts but there was a time I was driving my new moped to work. It had rained earlier in the day so I was trying to avoid puddles. My store sparking lot was full of them and in trying to avoid one i went through another and ended up wiping out. I hit the pavement. The bike hit me. Really scraped up my arm and leg. Had to go to the hospital to get bits of gravel pulled from the wounds. I can still make out the scars to this day. One of them is even discolored. Also I wrote a blog post about it if you want more detail.

I haven't been in an auto accident, but I have a few relatives who have. One of them was actually killed in an auto accident at a young age, it was a hard time for my relatives and my family and it was shocking to me for that to happen.

I was in my first accident two months ago. :sunny:

I went over the median and hit a sign. Somehow I did like 13,000 dollars in damage, which is pretty unbelievable considering I just hit a sign! Thankfully, I didn’t get hurt and now I have a different car! :please:

I hit a bus when I was 18, totaling my grandfather’s car. It wasn’t my fault as it was hit the bus, a tiny car, or the 18 wheeler that had pulled out in front of me, and very short time to decide. I remember running to the front of the bus and asking if anyone was hurt. The driver looked at me like I was crazy. I informed him I had hit the bus. He told me he thought it had been a strong wind. Ouch.

My right hand and foot were casted for two weeks, and I had to buy a new (to me) car. My thumb was crushed between the airbag and the steering wheel, and that shit still hurts when it’s cold out to this day.

I’ve been in three. Two were due to someone else (both individuals were on their cellphones not paying attention). The other one was due to my car hydroplaning. It was an old used car. I hated that care but also loved it because it was my first car.

I have been in three auto accidents but only because reckless drivers mostly on the rear end.:yeahno: Luckily, I have a very good auto insurance to back me up.

*cough (pun unintended)

Well It's more like reckless drivers getting me into an auto accident.

Two out of three I have to say is the most idiotic drivers I have to deal with it.

Spoiler

hStory 1:

So I was driving on my own lane and noticed a car coming closer to mine. I'd think the driver will noticed that she is coming a bit close to my lane. And before I could react to turn my wheel away from her, her car hit my car side. We both look for a spot to stop and just before I step out to complain to her, she stepped out and screaming at me telling me off like fucking bitch that I hit her car. I calmly told her it was her fault for swaying in my lane but she just keep on ranting about it and about her neck surgery and how she have to deal paying the medical bill. I then got out the car and took picture of her license plate and the damage on her car. strangely enough she didn't do the same..except she demanded me to give her my insurance information and phone number. I asked for hers, but she refused. So then I decided to call the police about it.

She refused and said she have no time to deal with the police. And she seem like she's in a rush. I told her I can give her my number and call me instead. so we can talk later because I'm not going to give my insurance if she's not giving hers. Luckily, she agreed and drove off. I then right away called my insurance about the incident and gave them her license plate and send them pictures. They told me once they hear from her side and her insurance I'd get paid. I didn't hear anything from her after four weeks and she called me and asked to meet up and she wants me to pay up out of pocket. I told her no and hang up. I called my insurance about that and boom I won the case. I believe she just want the money to pay for her damn surgery.

Story 2:

Another story,  I was driving my mom and I was waiting to get in the far left lane when existing. Seeing there's no cars coming I drove over the left lane. I saw a sport car coming in on the lane I want to be on, but car is far enough for me to make it there on time. Just as I almost get to the left lane, the car sped up and almost hit me. Luckily I reacted fast and turn the wheel away onto the other lane to avoid the collisions. When both of us stop at the red, a man yelled at me that I hit his car. He told me to park somewhere. He then was throwing threats, saying he'll kill me and my mom if I drive away.  Of course I did as he said and we parked. But I stayed at the car and he stepped out and was looking around at ours. He still shouting at me for hitting his car and want my information. I swore to myself that I didn't hit anything like his car otherwise I'd have heard something. I shouted at him back that I didn't hit his damn car. But..he didn't listen. Knowing this man is a bit deranged, I decided the best way to deal with this is to call the police.

While waiting, that douchebag was calling his friends or whoever he was talking toabout it, laughing. I figure he's not taking this seriouly...When the police came, I shared my story to the officer about what happen especially the part when he threaten us. While the officer goes to listen to his, I stepped out and took picture of his license and his car. My car have no damages whatsoever though, and his car have a lot of tiny scratch marks but not enough to tell if it's from the "crush" or not. The officer doesn't seem to take me side much but she did take a note about his threats, so that gave me a more of advantage. She then encourages us both to exchange information and have the insurance to sort it out. So we did. I called mine right when we got home and filed it. I didn't hear back from his after two week. But either way, both my insurance and his did not see any damage on mine so that's enough to show proof that I did not hit him and not having him win the case. I assumed he just want money to get upgrade and get these scratches he has gotten earlier to get fix for his dipshit looking car.

*sign...the stupid thing people do for money..they might as well jump and rob me at the back alley to save the headache of their stupidity.
