Did anyone else see this?

I have nothing to say!

a heart, with a cloud and an apple near it, and a cannon!!!!!

image to word play? reply if you see anything else

I liked that we got to the see Rarity/Fluttershy and Rainbow/AJ friendships again. Kinda obvious who was the creepy person, but somehow I forgot about Pinkie until towards the end. Did anyone think of SpongeBob when they were going to go see who was playing the organ? A pretty good average episode.

A

Yeah.... Rainbow/AJ......

What is hasbro's message by this?

Notice the cannon in that grouping as well?  I'm guessing it's just a subtle expression of the friendship between Pinkie, Rainbow Dash and Applejack, considering that hearts are featured so prominently everywhere anyway.  I don't think there's anything special going on here.

Ashame the mysterious figure at the end was just a gag. It isn't implemented into Power Ponies then it's appearance would have had significance.

I'm actually not so sure.  We've had two episodes that have ended with something mysterious and (mostly) unexplained.  The mysterious figure shows up at the end of this episode, and then in Power Ponies, the comic book disappears on its own.  The latter can be explained as it just being an "enchanted" comic book, but I'm wondering if they're doing a bit of a build-up to something bigger, kinda like how the Marvel superhero movies all had ending sequences that built up to The Avengers (and in a couple cases, alluded to other character-focus movies).

I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that.

or the cannon could be wordplay for canon, meaning official.

If there's any special symbolism in that picture and the cannon is meant to signify that it's official, I still doubt that it's meant as a sign of lesbianism. I'm sure the staff is aware of all the fan talk about Rainbow Dash being a lesbian from earlier seasons, and everyone there has categorically denied it, saying that she's simply a tomboy.

I'm guessing the deep meaning here, if there is one, is just that despite their rivalry, Applejack and Rainbow are still good friends.

Not that there would be anything wrong with something deeper, in general, but such a thing would be too big a distraction IMO.

(Edit: I swear my phone inserts the wrong words on purpose.)

I noticed that one guy that reviews mlp episodes took off a point just for that scene and I was confused why.

Yeah, TheMrMysteriousMan or something like that. I don't remember his name, really. xD I don't know why he took off a point, either. Maybe it's because this is a children show and we shouldn't show sudden deaths like this.

Why are so many people dismissing the shadow pony shown at the end?

Why can't it be the season 4 villain?
It's supposed to be a part of Nightmare Moon's magic, so it would make for an understandable foe.
It would also save the episode/s from "Villain out of nowhere" syndrome.
Chrysalis and Sombra, while good in design, appeared once and got booted out never to be seen again (so far).

It would actually be quite refreshing and fitting to have a part of Nightmare Moon be the S4 villain.

The mane six acquired the elements of harmony to win in season 1, and they got sealed away in this season.
I think the shadow pony learned of this through watching Twilight doing her research about the chest, and will make itself known during the finale.

Am i the only one who thinks it would be fitting to the point of being perfect?

i wonder will we ever get to see more of the pony of shadows during the rest of the season or will he play more of a part next season, i don't think he should just play a one time antagonist but more of a reoccuring one.

I thought the pony in the shadows was Pinkie?

Huh. I only just watched this, and was a little surprised to see people thinking Twilight was so amusing here.

I'll pick up my thoughts from the beginning:

Each scare-gag was actually pretty darn funny, and I can't say I saw anything amiss with characters as they were walking around getting sprung by traps. Pinkie being the organ-player was also pretty endearing. Still, the episode kept having two nagging problems in my head.

One: No conflictual setup. The "resolution" to the episode was "Hey, knock if off, you four, there's nothing there." Having a collection of gags is funny, but by the end of the episode you're searching for just a bit of meaning to tie it all together. Random, 5-minute plotline example: The organ player was a scared kid who got lost in the castle, and was using the traps to try to scare away the 6 "monsters" that were trying to find her and eat her.

Two: So I had held off of this season because of illogical Princess Wingicorn hate. I'm a bit weirded out by her show-stealing enormous wingspan during the theme song, but felt some reprieve under the idea that she'd still be just as dorky and fallible as the others. See, I was fine with Rainbow Dash, the bravado-filled showoff, being scared out of her wits...but NOT if the helpless nerd is going to be a tongue-clicking parental figure like Celestia.

"Ohhhh....what would a brave pony like Rainbow Dash do?" - Tw, S1, in an episode where slapstick comedy had crushed her with a piano

They at least tried to explain it with the books she was reading; though honestly, in a game like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, or 5 Days a Stranger, I don't think reading about the house's past (from the documents in those games) would make me any LESS creeped out by it all. *Sigh* I still know I should think it illogical, but even based on the 4 or so S4 episodes I've seen, I'm pretty worried that Princess Winglight Huffiness is going to continue to be just a bit too "infallible". The Celestia analogy is perhaps a good one...everyone could agree as a guardian figure, our favorite immortal goddess shouldn't be overstaying in any episodes.

This episode was altogether extremely funny. Knowing what was behind each scare made it funnier. Though it seemed pretty obvious that Pinkie was the Pony of Shadows. The bright blue eye in the painting totally gave it away.

Speaking of the Pony of Shadows, is anyone else totally confused by the dark figure that showed up at the end? I doubt even Pinkie could make her eyes glow gold. It was probably just there to add irony to the whole thing, though.

Favorite part: Obviously when AJ made the duck noise while shaking her head

Favorite line: "The everypony come to he creepy old castle and scare each other while I play the organ party!"

Favorite character as of right now: Still Rarity

This was probably one of my favorite episodes all together

I love the spooky castle concept, because I'm a fan of spooky things myself >w<

And it also made me laugh how scared everypony was because they didn't know the others were there

Overall, I'd sort of like to see more spooky episodes :D

Fluttershy's petty concerns ruined the episode for me otherwise it was great.  :D

This scene :

is just amazing, my favorite moment of the show.

The episode is decent, but this scene is amazing, I love the music, the ambiance, how they walk while wondering who it can be...
