This is hard, because to me this question is like asking a parent " who their favorite kid is"? Most of the time they can't say because they love them all for different reasons.

 

Rainbow Dash: I love Rainbow Dash, because I am very competitive just like she is. And besides what's not to love?

 

Fluttershy: if I was a pony I'd be kind of a carbon copy of a Male Fluttershy. I am really shy around new people, I absolutely love animals and I basically have no confidence in myself whatsoever.

 

Twilight Sparkle: for her I love her because of her social awkwardness and her ability to turn some of her strong problems, to huge problems, just like me.

Fluttershy. I relate to her the most because I'm shy and uncomfortable around new people, but know when I need to stand up for myself. Also, I try to live a compassionate life and love animals.

My favorite pony is Rarity and I think it's because I'm a bit of a tomboy and Rarity helps me remember that you can be tough and still be a lady at the same time. I used to despise things like dresses, makeup, and heels, but now they're an everyday occurrence and I think Rarity has really helped me discover that about myself. She reminds me just how important it is to work toward your dreams and just how important your friends are as well. I have horrible anxiety and depression and a lot of times, I don't want to do schoolwork or artwork or anything, but when I think about Rarity, it really helps me want to do something to strive toward my goals. It might sound cheesy, but she's kind of like a light at the end of a tunnel for me.

Of course I should say Lyra, since we're both anthropologists, right?  However, until that becomes canon I'll have to stick with Twilight.  Like most everyone else in this thread, I can see some of my own traits in her character: Obsessive/Compulsive, bibliophile, student, et cetera.  It's easy to grow fond of a character when you can empathize with them so easily.

 

On the other hand, one could also interperet the question of favorite pony as "which pony do you find the most entertaining?"  In that case I would have to say Applejack or Fluttershy.  Applejack's dialogue and voicing is always top notch, and the facial expressions she makes often make me laugh.  Fluttershy, especially in 'Castle Mane-ia' i also a cute character and her timidness can be hilarious at times, such as in episode one where she first meets Twilight.

everyone that knows me enough knows that my favorite is pinkie pie but I doubt if they know why. Pinkie in my favorite because of her extreme hyperness, her always happy attitude, and the fact that her songs raise the spirits of anyone that hears them. Pinkie is my favorite not just because I like these things about her, but because I want to be like her. she is one of those ponies that brights everyones day no matter what. She is always super happy because she is able to make her friends happy. this is how I want to be, I want to be the guy that makes everyone smile, the guy that brights your day just be seeing him, the guy that can cheer you up when you'er sad. I want to be just like pinkie pie and I do my best everyday to make this happen.

For me, Applejack is a source of inspiration. Of all the characters in the show, I wish I was more like Applejack. I just admire her in almost every way I can think of. She has tremendous integrity and strength of character. Everything from her genuine personality, her work ethic and dedication, her reliability and trustworthiness, and her selflessness and modesty. She's truly a role model in every sense of the word without even trying to be. She takes life as it comes and treats others how she'd like to be treated while always showing a greater interest in them than her own self. Applejack is an example to me. She's a friendly reminder of the kind of person that I strive to be like each and every day.

 

Not only that, but she speaks to me on a personal level in an even more heartfelt way. While I didn't grow up as an orphan like AJ is implied to be, I did lose my father at a fairly young age which led to a lot of hardships for my family. Applejack is a keen example of someone who does her best to hold her friends and family together through thick and thin, and I had to try my hand at that for a time too.

I always find it kind of hard to answer this types of questions, since I don't really have just ONE favourite pony, I do really love the whole mane-six team. But I tend to use Rainbow Dash as a reference point, since she's the character I can rely the most on.

For me, she represents passion, strength, willingness and loyalty. Four traits that, even thougt I use have some time in the past, I feel like giving up on them a little more every day.
My whole family dissapointed me, most my friends have already dissapointed me. Each time I take a look upon this world, it's just painful. I never had the chance to find the only person I ever loved in my entire life, even though I made the promess to remain alone for her, and that was seven years ago.

So at this point it's kind of hard to be loyal, when most people you knew, have already failed to you. It's hard to be strong, when I can't seem to find where, or from who, I could take that strength from. It's even harder to be willing, when you don't have any reason to keep going on. Without out any kind reason, there is not passion at all. So, I just admire Rainbow Dash 'cause she always reminds me the way I use to be. She looks so alive.

Rainbow Dash. Even when things get hard, she never gives up, and she always tries her hardest. She is also loyal, which is a very admirable trait in my opinion. I get ditched by friends a lot, so to have one that's always by your side sounds good to me. I also love her voice, her little antics, and her snazzy rainbow mane. Her personality is one of my favorites in the show too.

Rarity.  I've gone on and on about her, and I suspect most people who have been here for a while know that.  Really, she's the most interesting character to me.  She's the epitome of the idea of throwing initial expectations out the window, and is a reconstruction of the high class fashionista character type.  Yes, she's vain and wants the best for herself, but she also wants the best for others as well.  I mean, if you think about it, her job is inherently selfless- it's to make *other ponies* look like a million bucks.  And when she does show flaws it's really more a case of her just going overboard and not really thinking rather than any poor attitude on her part.

 

To me, she basically represents what makes this show so good.

Well explaining RD, and Aj would be difficult. But for Ditzy, well I kinda connect with her. More than I do with Wolverine. She's disabled like I am. I'm not exactly like her. I love seeing her in an episode. But when the whole bullcrap about Ditzy offending people because they have disabled kids. And were wanting her to be removed I was sad, afraid, and angry. Sad because an icon for the disabled was being tormented. I was afraid because if Ditzy was removed, I wouldn't see her anymore. I was angry because people have no right to be offended by her. But complaining about her. I remember that besides hoping Ditzy would stay, I was also hoping those offended would have the crap beat out of them and common sense beat in to them. In short Ditzy Doo means more to me than almost anything.
