Why do members say girls are more popular on here?

Wow, that's some incredible deciphering, Batman! You should win an award for not missing the original intent of the previous post!

My opinion about what is right and what is wrong will not change based on whatever you say unless you've got a point. In this case you didn't have a point and I just gave you my message differently. I am in the process of proving you wrong and you haven't answered any of my questions, which is why I assume I wasn't clear enough.

That was some incredible ignorance Superman, I guess you deserve some medals now.

I'm not popular and I'm a girl.

It's actually the girls that post photos that usually get the most popular (note usually) because I do think, whatever they say, a lot of people are going to be more interested in you than before if you are physically attractive.

Also crass girls get a lot of attention, LOL.

Well, if you go look at the "Special Somepony" topic, that'd give you a good reason :D

It's 95% dudes wanting a girlfriend.

I feel sorta popular, though. Maybe not insanely popular, but I feel known :D Like, my profile has gotten 5,000+ views since I joined back on October 24th, so nothing to sneeze over there.

*sneezes*

Anyway, dude, I think it'd probably be doubled if I was a girl. Why? Because a lot of the dudes on here want a girlfriend on here.

That is my honest opinion on the matter, shamefully. Maybe I'll be proven wrong up in the replies above me. :D

I guess it might be true that some of us guys aren't really good at hiding their more primal sides  . I don't understand the girlfriend part though, is it really fun to have a gf if she lives on the other side of the world .

I guess it's just me being silly but seriously guys, coming to a forum and brohoofing pictures of attractive girs....

Maybe, but logic seems to fall by the wayside when you are hornier than a hedgehog family reunion. Seriously though I think part of it is a desire for companionship in addition to wanting to sate particular urges. I guess that is part of the reason why some guys figure that a girlfriend that lives far away is better than none at all. I myself may want a girlfriend but want one that lives reasonably close by.

Mine has over 6,000, and I joined in October of this year ^-^

Mine has 11,000  I win! :P  Seriously though im not bothered about that, it's probably because I yap too much xD

Anyway ontopic :  I think that the forum has more male members, maybe a 70 / 30 split?   or 65 / 35? Im not sure but it seems there are more boys / men :)

I think there are also more Single Males here than ones in relationships too so I guess and (know for a fact) when some people see a female member their all over them, not in a creepy way or anything, but they would put in alot more effort in than if they were a male member if that makes sense :P

Anywhere with a bigger male to female ratio girls are likely to seem more popular and perhaps guys see more competition? xD I really don't know, im just talking crap likely :P

Personally though I don't tend to treat anyone differently based on their Sex, I do perhaps be a little more careful / polite around girls though until you get to know them better etc and maybe can ease up a bit :)

At the end of the day though, this isn't Facebook, you shouldn't be concerned about being Popular , everyone here is equal and thats what MLP teaches us ;)

Besides it would be quite fun being the new guy / girl nobody knows! :P

I don't think that girls are more popular, just because of minority. However, for them is easier to become popular on here because this forum is full of wild wolves waiting on their pray to show off of their gender and this site has a majority of males by far.

The picture thread is the fastest way especially if you're pretty, but there are also other ways to become popular, gender aside, roleplaying a lot and being active on all subforums can help, and you can still keep your gender as a secret.

I was popular back then, but I doubt new members know me now XD

Err. Completely honest here but I haven't really seen this...

And judging popularity by a picture sort of makes me a bit sad. Even as a guy... Judging popularity by a picture... seriously >_>

I think it depends on how and what members post here. Gals tend to be more distinct with words, and or going on about nothing. That or they flaunt their femine-ness all over the place. Girls act the same here as they do in real life.  If you put a female teacher in an all boys school, of course that teacher will be popular. Same here, most members are guys, the minority are girls, so of course they are getting more attention, especially if they act like girls.....It's annoying in my eyes more than anything. :okiedokielokie:

I...honestly don't feel popular, and I'm a girl. I have a wonderful select group of friends whom I see all the time, but I'm not "popular". But I do think it has to do with the fact that there aren't a whole lot of girls here.

Er, no? For months people assumed I was a guy, which made me change my name to Miss Earl Grey. I even had a bright pink signature/avatar for a while to give people a hint. But it didn't work, I suppose I type in a masculine manner or something. /shrug

On a forum like this, pink means nothing >_>

Names do tend to give off a "first impression" when on any kind of forum, so Earl Grey can easily be seen as a guy.

Other than that, it's how you present yourself in the manner of how you respond to topics, what your interests are, and how far you will go to allow people to know the "real you".....

also, there is no EXACT mold in terms of how people of either sex fit into in terms of roles and assumptions, so being considered a 'guy' on a forum with the majority being men is not an insult at all...it just means you fit in easier than the steryotypical girls.

There seems to be quite a lot of guys on here and when there's finally a girl who makes respectable posts, of course she's going to become popular. As to why people say females are more popular on here, it's because there's less of them so they're bound to get more attention.

Yeah, I think almost every guy want's. At least I do, but I'd rather prefer a girlfriend who lives close too.

I don't think girls are too much more popular, other than in the Post a Picture of Yourself thread. I've seen a few girls posting pictures every day, that's really fishing for attention. I can't stand when people do that, it really bugs me.

I think it depends on how and what members post here. Gals tend to be more distinct with words, and or going on about nothing. That or they flaunt their femine-ness all over the place. Girls act the same here as they do in real life.

Not really for me. People always assume I'm a guy. And I assume most the girls here are guys. Most of us aren't flaunting our femininity everywhere, unless we have a pic of us as our avatar or complain about boys it's kinda hard to tell... :P

This one is tricky for me to answer. After using the scientific method and testing my hypothesis in a controlled environment, I have come to a sensible solution as to why people say girls are more popular here. Magic

In all seriousness though, I don't know why people say girls are more popular. I consider them normal like everyone else here. Popularity is something I never cared for and is something I don't want.

Have often claimed that myself, to be honest I don't pay more attention to either genders though I have often had girls as my avatar and let's all be honest who doesn't like an attractive girl.

Of course you go on their profiles to check them out, especially in a forum where there isn't a high percentage of girls though I would say it's decent and since you're all so good looking you can't blame us for checking up on you. Though personally I don't pay that much attention to the members gender, if a person is awesome I like them, that's it. Doesn't matter whether you're male or female, so I wouldn't say that girls are more popular. There are plenty of popular guys on here but the same goes for girls so I would say that girls or guys don't get more attention then the other.

If you're a girl and you're popular it's more likely that it's because of your personality rather then gender since unless you have a picture of yourself as an avatar you can't really tell which gender that person is.

Girls on the internet > Guys on the internet.

It's just the same as why girls are more popular in online games and stuff. They're a Rarity so when you find them, you appreciate them xD #BadPuns

I don't think so, people get popular on here for different reasons. (The level of cool people is very high)

When I see new ponies here I usually check their profile and leave them to their business.

(Girls seem to be mad when I call them dude... Is not it ment for both genders or something?)

The person above me can exsplain the reason in a very good way.  ^_^

This question is pretty easy to answer. xp

Because girls are more rare to find on the internet. If you play an online game or go on a forum (like this one for example), most of the people there are guys, I'm sure everyone has noticed.

Also, I don't think I'm very popular. Atleast, not very much anymore.

I didn't really notice it, to be honest.  I don't even bother to check the gender of members and I just assume everyone is male until proven otherwise.  Just go see the ''guess the above member's gender'' thread.  Every time I say someone is female, I'm wrong xD.  They seem to be rare, and people like rarities.
